Re: Wonderful Wednesday

  • @CMGragain ... I'm sorry you went through that and am pleased to hear that you were released from the hospital.
  • @CMGragain I'm glad to hear you're feeling better. I hope you're back to normal soon

  • Hope you're feeling better CMG
  • Yes, glad you're home @CMGragain, and as other PP's said - I'm sure he did that out of concern. :)

  • @CMGragain hospitals suck. Glad you're home.

@sparklepants41 Did the give you an epidural finally?
  • @CMGragain glad to hear you're feeling better!!!
  • Good luck @sparklepants41!! Here's hoping for smooth sailing from here on out.
  • It wasn't the hospital that sucked.  It was the procedure!  I had a small bowel obstruction.  First treatment was to clean me out.  OMG!!!!!!!!!  Disgusting, but it worked to unblock the kink in my small bowel.  Every few hours they came and took x-rays of my abdomen to check if it was working.

The next step would have been surgery.  They had the surgeon ready.  Wasn't necessary, thank God.

Last week I had a case of food poisoning.  (Chinese buffet.  DH had it, too, but milder.)  They theorized that the adhesions from my many abdominal surgeries, in combination with the sever vomiting and diarrhea, might have caused the kink.   Nothing to do with my cancer.  Ewww!

  • @lyndausvi go do Kili!!  We just finished climbing it last week. It was a very easy hike, but it's the altitude that gets you. If I remember correctly, you regularly hike 14 000 foot mountains??  Maybe it was someone else. Anyway, DH used Diamox and felt fine. I have it up on day 3 with severe stomach cramping and made it just fine after. I just needed to stop to breath every 3 mins. It was the 2 of us, 13 porters/cook/guides and we did 8 days on the Lemosho route. I almost cried at the top and I'm not an emotional person. PM me if you want more details

On the other hand, we're currently in Amsterdam for 3 days stopover on the way home and I haven't been feeling well. Went to a doctor today and I have an upper respiratory infection with pink eye, all of which is viral so no drugs for me.  It's the third time I've been sick on this trip (though once was the bad reaction to Diamox), and travelling which sick is the absolute worst
OMG - thank you for this.     Now I really want to do it.  PM coming your way.

I wouldn't say I hike 14ers regularly.  I've done 4 so far.  2 last year.  2 this year, with more to come.   However, I do hike in the 10+K range a few days a week.  So I'm sure that will help.

Sorry you haven't felt well during your trip.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

  • We went to the Astros game last night, which was really fun bc we had awesome seats.  My BIL actually caught a home run!  I'm just annoyed bc we're having a great season & I've been to 3 games, but they've lost all the games I've attended.  I'm going again on Thursday, so fingers crossed!

Since the Phillies or the Astros moved to a different division a few years ago (i don't remember which), we haven't been to any games in Houston. I'm not a baseball fan at all - but I'll get tickets for DK when the Phillies are in town, and then just drink margaritas, check out players' butts, and cheer for the train.

Houston moved to the American league.

The train is super fun.   Do you live in Houston?

    Yay for BCBC!

I'm so glad you posted this, because I was just thinking "Is there a Tuesday post?  Should I start one?"  Uh, it's actually Wednesday.  D'oh!

Work has been busy, which is good.  I was sort of bored, but we have a new boss now and we're actually working on some good stuff.  It's seriously cutting into my Knot time, though. ;)  Yesterday we were in a meeting from 11:00 - 1:00 and I swear I was afraid people were going to hear my stomach growling.  Then at 1:00 we had to watch a video of our new CEO giving a speech, which was exactly as exciting as it sounds.  I inhaled half a yogurt on the way, like I was in an eating contest or something.  I finally got to eat my salad during a conference call after--thank you, mute button!

Also checking in for news of babysparklepants, looks like nothing yet?

Leaving for the beach in a couple of weeks.  I don't love FIL's condo, but it is right on the beach.  And it's free.  And DH says FIL's feelings would be hurt if we went and didn't stay there.  I'd be at least as happy going somewhere else, but I also think it's kind of #FWP to complain about your free beach accommodations, so...  I kind of want to hire short+sassy to come in and gut it and totally redo it, though

This is the time of year when my animal instincts kick in and I start prepping for fall.  I think it must be the shorter days or something.  I have like 20 house projects I want to do, and I'm pinning crockpot recipes like a madwoman.

Work meetings should be like wedding receptions.  If they extend over a meal period, a free meal MUST be provided.

Have your FIL throw in a few free trips a year and we'll talk, lol.
