  • I can't sleep without the TV either. H hates it but has just dealt with it for 8+ years now.

Last month we got one of those sleep sound machines and I. LOVE. IT. Enough noise to not keep me up with complete silence and much less annoying than the TV for H.

There's a funny commercial for exactly what you are talking about.  It's a couple sleeping in their home.  Tossing and turning because they are obviously in a big city, urban environment and you can hear sirens and cars and all kinds of noises outside.

Then you see them excitedly packing for a camping trip.  Fast forward to the evening and they are in their tent.  Wide awake.  Because it is TOO quiet.  The next scene, they are sleeping soundly and there is a machine on that is quietly playing city noises, lol.

LOL!! I love the sound of traffic. My best friend growing up lived on a big state highway. I remember loving sleeping there because it was never actually quiet.

I was surprised that I liked the white noise options on the machine. When we were shopping for it, we found that so many models only have white noise. I was all, " WTF? No way. I want rain or the ocean or something". I hated the rain and the ocean ones. White noise lulls me right to sleep.

We bring a sound machine with us when we go up to the house in New Hampshire.  I can’t fall asleep if there’s silence.
  • Yeah I don't have a whole lot of hobbies either. H has like 1,000 (and they're all expensive, that ass).

I cook and bake and go to bears and hawks games. That's about it. But I'm also the type of person that needs a lot of sleep and a significant about of "down time" to function. So working 9 hours a day, commuting for one, plus cooking probably 2 hours, working out, doesn't give me a ton of free time on a daily basis. Plus, like LW, I do a lot more of the cleaning and day-to-day household stuff.

If my H told me it bothered him, I'd probably try to show him how much I actually do do. Like, okay, dude. You get and sort the mail, pay the bills, make dinner and lunches, clean, walk the dog, make grocery lists and meal plan, meal prep on the weekends, budget, get the oil changed and do the laundry. I'll be working on my interpretive dance.

M's hobbies are expensive too lol
    What's your H into?

Hunting, fishing, shooting. He plays bass, he has a motorcycle that's older than I am that constantly needs work and parts. Tattoos. I'm sure there's more.

Bolded plus gaming is M lol
Tatts too, but idk if M has enough to consider it a hobby - we both have 5 lol

I consider the tattoos a hobby mostly because they cost a couple grand a year and he tries to go about once a month. His arms are both full sleeves and he's working on his legs now.
Ah yeh, in your H's case I would consider that a hobby.

M has 5 tatts but none are huge pieces that would have him go back more than once. One arm has a theme happening, and he wants to turn it into a piece {more piece-meal tbh} but nothing set in stone.
  • @TrixieJess Do you mind me asking how he sold them? DH tries to sell some of his every once in a while, but it's on a local site and he has a bunch of people basically lowballing him or arranging to buy but then not showing up and wasting his time. And ebay is a bit of a shipping nightmare when it comes to fragile models.

But yeah, they are worth a crazy amount of money.

Believe it or not FB Marketplace. It connected him to gaming groups within 50 km of our area. He had someone who wanted to buy the whole set for his teenage son. He's selling a bunch of other stuff on there now. It's stuff that he hasn't used in years and doesn't plan to.

That's fantastic - so telling DH!  I had no idea.

  • We have become big FB Marketplace sellers too! I am pretty big into the local baby buy/sell group and it automatically posts your sale stuff on Marketplace and once I started getting hits there we continued. We've recently sold H's drone (another expensive hobby), some motorcycle stuff, and a bunch of random stuff around the house. I joke that every week he would just walk into a room and pick out stuff he hasn't used in forever and ask me to list.
  • @TrixieJess @kvruns would you say FB Marketplace > online selling {like Kijiji or CraigsList?}
  • We dont have Kijiji but I feel like I trust selling via FB Marketplace a bit more than CL since I can at least look at someone's profile, see if we have friends in common, have a name/pic, etc. Of course someone can have a fake name/picture but I think I prefer it this way.

Similar to CL - except doesn't have the 'missed connections' lmao

FI tells me it's similar to Kijiji (I don't know Craigslist).

I've never heard of Kijiji either.  Maybe it's a Canada thing?

I've heard good things about FB Marketplace.  I really need to try it out.  I've tried to sell things on Craig's List before and it's always just been crickets.

I've also been curious about some of those other ones that (I think) are apps.  Like Let It Go.

Hey don't knock the missed connections! An old reg here married the guy who posted about her and found her on CL missed connections!!!

  • I've bought and sold things on FB garage sale sites but not the marketplace. The garage sale sites I use are more area specific. I got a great deal on some baby clothes for DD two weekends ago!
  • I proudly watch Fuller House among other ridiculous shows and if my man didn't like it, I'd tell him where to go. You can watch whatever you want, ok? If you are happy with the way you unwind and it brings you happiness, he needs to leave you alone.

Not really the whole point ^^.
