Feels like no one wants to start posting.

I'm sooooooooo glad it's Friday. It's also payday and I felt rich for about 10 minutes, then I paid bills.

No big plans for the weekend. One of the movie theatres in town has started offering an unlimited movie pass for $18/month, no restrictions, so even opening weekend are fair game. I'm
really tempted as $18 is basically 2-3 movies. I love going to see movies, it's just cost prohibitive.
I was thinking about that work post from Prudie. Work is having an issue w/our clock in/out system. It's something IP address/internet portal related. They've identified the issue, they're trying to find a fix.
Everyone feels the need to complain about it, incessantly, and for long periods of time. Just let it TF go, there's nothing to be done and your bitching is just making it worse. They know you're here, everyone is being clocked in/out manually, so you're not losing money. STFU already.
No big weekend plans here except continuing to clean/organize.
Re: Fri-Yay
I worked out hard this week, and my body is so sore. I'm feeling my age for sure. I signed up for a Tough Mudder in October so I've been running again to prepare. Ugh. Sprints have killed me.
No plans for tonight. Tomorrow night my friends are all coming over to hang out. No plans Sunday. It's going to be beautiful all weekend!
Tiny child decided sleep was for the weak, meanwhile mama would like to sleep for a week.
Idk what her problem was. She faught bed time so we let her roam a bit in the living room. She went down, I went to bed, and obv around 1145 she's up again. She went back down quickly, so I was hopeful but apparently only for an hour. Then she was up for an hour.
I am tired a.f today. Large iced coffee day.
Tonight a friend is coming over for dinner.
Saturday is a Food Truck Rally by my mum's place, so we're going around 2ish so we can eat and that way we can check out Little Ray's Reptiles. I might suggest my mum setting up BabyKitten's pool for afterwards.
M's gonna see about us visiting his nanny on Sunday. If she's busy, then we'll prob do something else. Maybe I'll convince him to do splash pad for BabyKitten?
We pay $23 for our unlimited movie pass and it’s 100% worth it! Well, it’s not unlimited unlimited - we can only go 3 times a week... but we had that pass for a year now and we were only able to do 3 movies a week once. If my H had a steady schedule we could do it! I should start going alone.
Tonight is my pre op appointment and final payment. Yay. Then my friend lives 20 minutes from the doc office and if I went home after it, I’d be stuck in rush hour so I’m heading to her place for dinner. Sat is my first ever mammogram and if H is in town - impractical jokers tour, but it doesn’t look like he’ll make it. Such is life.
Edit for: my 2nd cousin had her baby at 2:48 this morning. I only know this because she posted at 4:30 am. How does a new mother find time!?
Sunday, is family pics and dinner out. We're going to a German restaurant my sister really likes and the menu looks awesome, so I'm excited. Bring on the schnitzel and bavarian pretzels with beer cheese.
DH leaves Monday for a business trip. He'll be back late Weds.
DH is asking for a 10% raise today because he's been asked to take over for the guy who was fired from their other facility. I'm crossing my crossables. He's got a list of points as to why he's worth it. His manager has been hitting him up A LOT recently and leaning on DH's expertise, so I think he knows how valuable DH is to him and the success of upholding their contract (a gov't contract with a huge internationally known company).
I'm getting afternoon tea and macarons with a coworker and laying by the pool for the rest of the afternoon!
Today I am heading over to FSIL’s new place to help them out with deliveries and then tonight FI, FSIL, and her FI are going to dinner and a movie. Tomorrow FI and I are supposed to do date night. No plans for Sunday yet and I’ll probably keep it that way. I’m trying to decide if today should be my rest day from the gym or if it should be Sunday. I’m leaning towards Sunday because the extra calories I’m going to consume the next two days could probably use the assist.
Not sure what is up for tonight. I suggested a BJ's run, so we will probably be picking up bulk goods. Tomorrow, I'm heading over to my BFFs new house to help her unpack and set stuff up. Can't wait to see it! I will bring the sign I made for her tomorrow too. We will probably hit up Church on Saturday, like usual. Sunday is nothing right now, so it will probably turn into some house work.
My sister texted this morning and asked if we could come over tomorrow and help them with some yard stuff. I said maybe and asked what it was and it’s like big, hard work (moving dirt, laying down pavers, digging holes for them to build a deck, and oh maybe if we finish then we can actually build the deck). That’s like all day. And she just messaged me this morning.
We don’t have plans tomorrow and we could probably help out, but I feel a bit like it’s bait and switch. It sent from “oh just a little help” to redoing their entire backyard and building a deck.
Am am I wrong for being a little annoyed by this?
@mrsconn23, good luck to your H! But didn't he read that Prudie letter from yesterday? He's supposed to ask for his salary to be doubled, lol.
My new tenants are moving in tomorrow morning. It was supposed to be today, but I just got word they won't be coming into town until tomorrow. One of them already lives here in NOLA, but the other three people are coming from New York. I hope they remembered to turn the utilities on. It's in my lease and I also sent her a reminder text message on Mon. Not that it's my problem, but I always worry people will forget to do that with so much other stuff going on with their move.
The main contact is one of the people traveling. She is killin' me, lol. She told me they will probably be in NOLA at 6:30AM tomorrow. On a Sat. morning
At least that frees up my day, today. I'd left it pretty open because I was originally expecting them, but didn't know what time.
So that's my weekend. Help new tenants settle in tomorrow. Take their rent money to the bank and pay down my HELOC. Yay! That balance needs all the help it can get after my duplex down payments, lol. Go to the new duplexes on Sat. and help my H with my reno. Sunday...relax!
It's also restaurant month in NOLA (Coolinary) with all kinds of great specials at dozens of restaurants. I'm hoping to hit one up for dinner on Sat., but we might be too exhausted, lol.
We’re spending today at the science center then getting ice cream. Tonight is practices for all. Tomorrow am maybe the farmers market. Maybe not. Tomorrow night is he Columbus vs Cincinnati soccer match. We’re tailgating with friends. Should be a fun time.
I'd absolutely tell her I was busy.
That is some serious tough, manual labor. And in the heat of August, no less!
Though I might be a bit jaded because I really hate that kind of work. I have to drag my own self kicking and screaming to do these kinds of things for my own house or properties, lol.
At any rate, if it were me and I was okay with doing some help, I'd say something like, "Sure, but we can only come by for a few hours after lunch (or a few hours in the morning)."
@short+sassy
If you wanna help, I would draw the line on what you're willing to do. Even if it means making an excuse ....
That's some gal she has to ask last minute!
@CharmedPam I was going to ask where you got a PS flavored drink but then saw your pumpkin spice sweetener...cool! Im not a big pumpkin fan but can't wait for fall myself
Making my lists and checking them twice for our trip...this time tomorrow we'll be in the White Mountain National Forest (NH...my second home. Rural Eileen is ready to emerge.) Everything that can be packed is packed. Toothbrushes, phone chargers and the other last minute stuff will be added before we leave tomorrow morning.
I sent my dad a gift card to the casino when he came over and worked all day to wire our new boiler and we compensated FIL too. The idea of using a full day of manual labor is a huge ask and I don't know that you need to say your compensation method but it rubs me the wrong way that there wasn't more of an understanding of your time involved.
SSDD here. I'm exhausted from my workouts this week. I think I just want to veg on the couch and watch TV this afternoon. Last night we went out to dinner with friends. The construction traffic plus a storm coming through at rush hour made what would normally be a 20 minute drive over an hour!! Good thing margaritas were available. I might have had one more than normal!
Have a great weekend everyone.
The sweet-drops are from amazon! Its stevia which is the best for diabetics, it’s all natural. I have a chocolate and peppermint coming in my subscribe & save for a peppermint mocha one!
I mean, FIL pitched in once with mulching when he was here because of house showings. But we didn't expect him to.
Besides, how much can you actually do with your hurt arm? I may go over to offer keeping your niece occupied while they work, this includes your H not going to assist either.
I would also like to LOL that your sister is going to do ALL OF THAT IN ONE DAY! Unless this area and deck about about 5x5, I don't see it getting done in one day.
It is really helpful to hear this from someone else; I love my sister and I want her to be happy but H pointed out that my sister is pretty selfish, and not intentionally, she just doesn’t really think about other people. And I always want everyone to get along. Clearly I’m the fixer in the family.
The issue is that BIL lives a longer distance away so sometimes he presents his plans like "This is a great idea and what we're doing" and doesn't stop to listen to what others are doing or hear that sometimes his plans are the suck. I don't think he is intentionally selfish but sometimes it....obtuse?
What your sister listed would be worth nearly $1000 for out of pocket labor if you and your H charged her. I think it's more than fine to say, "Oh with my finger I can't do that but I'm happy to pick up your kiddo and take her in the pool/put her down for a nap while you do this."
For us we have a busy Fri / Sat ahead of us. It's an annual fishing tournament weekend at the marina so tonight is a casting / karaoke event and tomorrow is the tournament followed by a potluck. DH is fishing with FIL and I'll cook orzo salad and brownies. The food will be judged and I'm hoping that one of them is a winner.
Another concern, do they even know how to build a deck? Because thinking they could build a deck in one day, much less all the other stuff, makes me think they don't. All that wood needs to be stained, usually at least twice. And there needs to be 1-2 days between the stainings. Of course, you can stain wood after it's already been assembled into a deck and that's necessary for occasional re-staining. But when you're first assembling a deck, it's much faster and easier to stain the wood BEFORE the deck is built.
At any rate, decks are a structure. And, unless it is only a few inches off the ground, they need to be built/braced correctly or they can potentially injure people.
