Tropical Storm Tuesday

We still have power, that's my main concern. How is everyone today?

Re: Tropical Storm Tuesday

  • I have power now. We didn't get hit by Isiasis, unless it was a storm kicked up by an outer band. But there was a huge band of thunderstorms that came through yesterday afternoon. Apparently a big tree went down about a mile from my house, so everyone within a 5 mile radius was out of power until after midnight. It was a rough night with no A/C. Whine.

Otherwise, nothing much going on. Trying to get caught up with work after missing the last couple of hours yesterday.
  • I guess the worst of the storm is hitting this afternoon here? Hoping we don't lose power.
  • A bit chilly this morning which is a nice change. Need to get out for a walk this morning.

Found out one of my good friends is pregnant which is exciting!

If you want to weigh in on a friend situation I posted something toward the end of the Monday thread. Would love some WW opinions
  • @climbingwife will the divorce getting finalized determine what is happening with the house? Or did you guys already decide that?

@banana468 FX for the boat and HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! I hope you guys are able to enjoy it.

SSDD here. We ran out of cooking gas this afternoon and I am too lazy to go get more so I told DH we were ordering in tonight. Then DS ate an adult sized amount after he woke up from his nap so I doubt he will be hungry at all anyway.

I am going to bed early tonight, I have been fighting a nap all afternoon.
  • Have to go vote this evening.  Hopefully it goes smoothly.  The last few times I haven't felt like the poll workers really knew what they were doing.  Sometimes I miss the old books that they just found your name and you signed, it seemed like it was faster and easier at the polls than using the tablets.  I also argue with them every time, so some of the slowness is probably my fault (b/c they want my driver's license when I have my voter card out and I'm not playing this game, Missouri).

Otherwise, SSDD.  My rowing program has futzed out 2 workouts in a row at 30 minutes.  I checked everything I could and finally just reset the app, so hopefully tomorrow it works fine.
  • I have a lot of personal business that's been hanging over my head, so I'm hoping to finally knock most of that out today.

At least I got a good night's sleep last night (for once), so I feel about as energized as I'm going to feel for being at work, lol.

I forgot I have a doctor's appointment on the 13th!  Which means I need to take the day off from work on Fri. to get bloodwork done...so I'm not going to take a random vacation day on Wed...and I need to re-juggle some mystery shops I was planning to do after work on Fri.  Some of them are really close to my work, but not so much my house.  So I need to fit them in on my lunch hours/after work on Wed.-Thurs.  I'm just glad I realized that today and have time to make alternate plans!

  • @climbingwife will the divorce getting finalized determine what is happening with the house? Or did you guys already decide that?

It will determine what is happening, which will be the judge telling him that he has to buy me out of my share, since he will not sell the house. By law, he owes me the increase value, and he refuses to pay me anything.
Do you think hearing that will make him reconsider selling or will that be the binding, final decision? What if he doesn't have the money? (Sorry for all of the questions, don't answer if you don't feel like it, I just don't know how any of that works)

Good god he's a douche.  I have a friend going through something similar and it's maddening.  She's trying to stay IN the house and buy him out.  He's refusing to leave and she's waiting on the judge to hand down a ruling.

Also, I saw your f/u about your kidney infection.  My BFF went through something similar, but she didn't have to go home on a PICC.  I hope you're feeling better.

Happy anniversary, @banana468!  I understand it's hard to feel like celebrating.  My last 2 were difficult because of family stuff that was going on at the time.  ((hugs))

It's Tuesday.  That's about it.  We have a Scouts meeting tonight.

Our neighbor took down the tree that lost a giant limb last week (well, he hired it out).  It makes our backyard look so weird now.  Even DefConn has commented on it.

DH and I had a funny conversation about school pizza this morning.  So, did you have the square pizza or the french bread?  I experienced both since I went to 3 different school districts from elementary through HS.
  • I slept like crap last night but feel surprisingly good and energetic today.  Probably because it's 65 degrees and sunny with low humidity.  This weather is so my jam and I hope we're done with the super hot and humid.

Hope everyone in the storms path stays safe and experiences little to no damage!!!
  • Yes, hope everyone is safe in this storm!
sorry there’s so much time from now and then @climbingwife.  I know you want this over with! Ugh I hate how everything takes so long in the court systems.

Nothing exciting for me.  Have a microblade appt after work. Lotsa deliveries coming my way today too. Everytime I say I’m done shopping - i end up never being truly done shopping.

  • . Everytime I say I’m done shopping - i end up never being truly done shopping.
I totally feel you on that.  I've gotten so on board with online shopping.  It's too easy!!!!!
  • @mrsconn23, French bread pizza only.  For both jr. high and high school.  I still love French bread pizza.  Except now that I have to actually "adult" and procure it myself, Stouffers is my hook up, lol.

In elementary school, there were no choices.  It was whatever was being served on the tray that day.  I think we occasionally had pizza, but I don't think those were French bread.  Though my mom usually made my lunch anyway.

Probably weird for people from other places, but all the serving tables with trays/the line/the picnic tables for seating where all outside.  Coastal Southern CA.  What I can I say, lol.  On the rare rainy day, they'd move the serving set-up to the assembly room and then we'd go back to our classrooms and eat in there.

  • We had square pizza in elementary. It was so bad that even 8 year old me wouldn't eat it. In middle school, we had pizza hut. It was a weird strange program that was the opposite of healthy. I have no idea what we had in high school, because I just ate out of the vending machines. A muffin and a diet coke were my go-to.
  • In HS, we had open campus for lunches. SIL/BFF and I went out to lunch most days.  However, we did have a cart in our lunch room that had these bagel sandwiches that were super tasty.

We did also.  It was awesome!  Especially when I was old enough to drive.  But there was also a McDonalds that was next door to my HS.  Super convenient.

  • Oh no @charlotte989875.  I hope you feel better being at home.  Also, give him a little talking-to.  Heee.

    I hope he comes soon.
  • Well, @charlotte989875 here's to more sex, spicy food and bumpy car rides.   Good luck!

  • Oh @charlotte989875 I'm sorry the induction didn't work! Clearly he's quite comfortable in there. Fingers crossed he makes his way into the world before Friday and you get to meet him!

I think we had square pizza in elementary and middle school but I never ate school lunch so I can't quite remember. In high school it was pizza from Domino's, which was a huge improvement. We also were not allowed to go off campus for lunch.

Just another Tuesday for me. We got a ton of rain late morning/early afternoon but the sun is out now. I need to start doing some sort of physical activity if I want to get back into a bathing suit by Labor Day (in-laws rented a cottage on the lake for the week of Labor Day) so I'm going to try doing a few miles on the treadmill after the baby goes to bed.

Ugh sorry @charlotte989875 ...hope you're keeping comfortable enough. I felt very apprehensive right before having my kids...if you are, sending calming vibes too

@short+sassy the outdoor dining sounds really nice!  Ah SoCal..
@mrsconn23 my small Catholic elementary school didn't have a cafeteria, we ate lunch from home in our classrooms.  BUT every Wednesday was pizza day...for $1 ($1.25 towards 7th-8th grade) your parents could fill out an order form for a slice from the local pizzeria.  We lived right near the school so it was actually our go-to pizzeria.  It was delicious.  Good times.  In high school there was a cafeteria but it was also pretty typical NYC pizza (triangle slice cut from a round pie).  Also delish.  I can't comment on French bread pizza, but in college an out of state friend introduced me to square pizza...she kept it in the freezer, I think it was Elvio's or Ellio's.  Honestly I thought it was also pretty good (I only ate it drunk at 3am, but it always hit the spot :) )
You can be jealous of my childhood almost always outdoor lunches.  I'll be jealous of your childhood NYC pizza slices on Wed., lol.

It doesn't usually register with me.  But, every once in awhile, if I'm watching South Park or another tv show/movie with an inside school cafeteria it will hit me, "Oh yeah!  That's not just how that school does it.  That's most schools, lol."

  • Oh!  I forgot to tell you all the good news I got from Norwegian cruise lines.

As a recap, I was supposed to go on a western Mediterranean cruise (Barcelona, Spain embarkation) this last May.  Obviously that was a no-go and I rebooked it for May 2021 back in April.

But now I've even been stressing about that a little bit because COVID is not the "few months and it'll be under control" we all thought it would be.

Norwegian is one step ahead of me.  They sent a general e-mail last week that all cruises from now through the end of 2021 can be postponed through Dec. 31, 2022.  As long as they are notified within at least 14 days of the sailing.

I certainly HOPE things are under control enough or there is a vaccine by the time my cruise comes around next year.  Not just for the sake of my cruise but for the sake of everybody!  But it's good piece of mind that I can move it out, if I need to.

On a different note, Air France refused to refund my airfare and would only give me a one-year credit to use it.  Even though they cancelled the flight.  So I put in a dispute with my credit card.  They had until June 30th to refute it.  They didn't.  So my dispute was successful and I permanently have my money back ((sticking my tongue out at Air France)).  I'm so glad I just went straight to my credit card after being told no, instead of trying to make a bunch of frustrating, international phone calls to fight Air France.

I have bought so many clothes that I haven't worn because who needs to dress in anything other than workout clothes these days?
