Happy to have power again. We lost ours Tuesday right after I wrote my comment about square pizza

and it didn't come back until Saturday morning. Ouch. And it wasn't even a hurricane, just a tropical storm. It was the worst damage sustained in our area since Hurricane Sandy.

How was everyone's weekend? @charlotte989875 have two become three?

Weekend was good. Went to dinner at some friend's house. They have a really nice patio with comfy furniture. It was a great evening. (may have had a bit too much to drink). It was the last evening of decent temperatures and lower humidity. That all came roaring back yesterday. Yesterday just lazed around binging Alias. Today I'm having lunch with a friend. Luckily the restaurant's outdoor area is covered!

Been thinking about you @charlotte989875 hope the little guy is here and all is well with you both.

Hows it going @charlotte989875 ?

Not much going on here. Good day at home Sat and then Sunday went to my parents' to go swimming. While I don't love the 40 min drive each way to visit them it does always make the day go faster so can't complain.

Have to make a video for work this week and I'm dreading it because stuff like that is awkward. It also means I have to do hair/makeup for the first time since the end of Feb. Dreading both the video and looking nice!

@ei34, Ugh! Sorry to hear about the long power outage. We had "just" a tropical storm hit NOLA in (I think) 2012 and had the same thing happen! The power went out Tues. night and didn't come back on until Sat.

I had a busy Fri. and Sat. I went on a mammoth grocery shopping trip. They had whole chickens on clearance for $3-$4. I grabbed one of those and we cooked it over potatoes and onions on Sat. It was delicious! We never cook with whole chickens, but I was impressed with the results and will have to keep my eye out now for other sales. It took a long time to cook, but the prep was really fast and easy.

I also had six mystery shop/audits to complete. They start as a mystery shop, then I reveal myself as the "mystery shopper" and do an audit. Each location takes about 30 minutes and then another 30 minutes to enter the report. I did two on Fri. and four on Sat. It was a lot! But decent money for the time spent.

Sunday was total relaxation!

Edited to add: I also discovered the city pool that's a block from my house is open! I didn't think it was going to be open at all this summer because of COVID. I've been craving going to a pool. It's just been so miserably hot and humid. My H and I are planning to go this coming weekend in the morning(s).

It was good. The picnic on Friday was really nice and a success. I had also bought 3 desserts at this amazing dessert place near me. I hate their owners, but their food is top notch and there's no other place like it, so I have to suck it up sometimes. We splurged and just chilled outside until my allergies became too bad to stay out there.

Saturday was my lazy day. So we watched Doom Patrol (this is an amazing show and I highly recommend) and gamed and that's about it. Sunday was cleaning and laundry. It took all day, blech.

SSDD at work today. Found out some more info that continues to make me unhappy about management and how dumb they are, but I'm attempting to find my peace with that. They're not actively interfering with me, so that's something I hold onto.

It's crazy how many people were without power for that long after the storm. I know we still have roads closed by us, and people were still getting power back over the weekend.

I got my nails done Saturday. Was very impressed with my salon. They have plexiglass partitions hanging from the ceiling for the pedicure stations. Partitions up over every nail station. Temp checks for everyone on the way, along with filling out a form with all of your information. No walk-ins. Very socially distanced.

Pretty much SSDD here. Thankfully asshole BIL was not around this weekend. No idea where he was - just happy to not have to see him.

Thanks everyone! Glad the power has returned for all of you!!

We are now, finally, a family of 3! Things didn’t go as planned (really at all) but TL;DR: we had a csection early Saturday morning and Maximus finally joined us!

Longer version: we were induced again Friday, they had to break my water and I was still not making any progress. We had to carefully monitor him because he wasn’t tolerating the pitocin after breaking the water. My doctor recommended the csection and it was good because he was crooked (face up but also turned) and had the cord around his neck. They said he would not have come vaginally.

I was taking to my SIL when she talked to someone at coned on her street about the power. 3 hours later she texted me that she was up with power again! Yay! i don’t know how you NE’ers did it. No one, not even mother nature, forces me to read books again!

I had a date Saturday evening with the person whom I talked to till 2 in the morning last week. It lasted till 3 a.m., probably would have lasted longer had the police not shown up to ask what we were doing in the parking lot (we were just talking). Felt like I was 16 again! Lol But I dunno, hard to get vibes from him. We’re still texting but no mention of anything in the future and I got ghosted after my last good date, so anything could happen.

Tonight I have to go home to make dinner and then have a 7 pm zoom meeting.

ETA: congrats @charlotte989875! Just read this now. Maximus is a daring!

Welcome sweet Maximus! Hope you're feeling alright @charlotte989875 I didn't mention it at the time bc I didn't want to share scary stuff but my sister's labor was also tricky...cord around my nephew's neck. The dr used a vacuum but i 100% think she should've had a c-section. Glad you're both okay

@CharmedPam, I was wondering what had happened to the guy from the date you went on a week ago or so. Don't take the ghosting personal! It's a mystery and a lot of times people do it for reasons totally unrelated to the date/person. Good luck with potential new guy. Sounds promising! He might be waiting for you to suggest a second date.

That's the impression I got when I was single. That men wanted the encouragement I was interested, by contacting/asking them out for the second date. They'd especially do things like say they wanted to go out again at the end of the first date and then suggest I contact them to set up a night. I always assumed that was their way to give me a gentler "out" so they didn't have to risk rejection in the moment. If I wasn't interested, I just wouldn't follow up.

Congrats @charlotte989875!! He's beautiful!

It was a nice weekend here. Friday my friend gathering fell through (not my doing) when everyone lost their childcare and no one really wanted a play date, so H and I stayed home and got takeout. There was a massive thunderstorm, so we sat outside and watched lightning for a bit. Saturday we did chores and errands, and then watched a little Umbrella Academy. Yesterday we did the yard work, which was a ton of storm clean up and then went tubing. I think they closed the dam, because the water was going super slow. We were out on the river for 5 hours. I got a little more sun than I'd hoped, but I'm not burnt. I think I've got to stop doing big activities on Sundays, though. I'm so tired every Monday.

My weekend was nice. DS and I dipped out to a nearby hotel Friday night. It was fantastic. DS had so much fun swimming and running, he was such a good boy too, didn't cause his mama any problems. But it Wore Me Out! Saturday night I went to bed at like 9 and slept all night until DS woke up the next day.

@CharmedPam *tsk tsk* you're so naughty, lol. 3am police involvement, lol.

@short+sassy, all good advise. Maybe if I pushed harder on the other guy he would have came up with date #2... but I also felt little chemistry. At least not as much as with this guy. I was telling my friend last night also going through dating woes, that it’s 2020. I can ask him out!

Ladies of WW, help me out if you can! Any recommendations for tooth pain? Extreme, torturous pain (sigh).

I have a tooth that got damaged a few months ago. It's been fine up until now. But, last night, it was really hurting for about an hour. And now it is back at it. I suspect the nerve has gotten exposed or something. I tried to make an emergency dental appointment, but the soonest they could get me in is tomorrow at 3:30. I guess I'll need to hang on until then. I just hope the pain subsides like it did last night because I'm not sure I can handle over 24 hours of this.

I took two generic Naproxen Sodium, but it's not making a dent on the pain. I have Orajel at home, but not here at work. Though I've never found Orajel that helpful anyway.

I'm going to try wrapping some ice in paper towels and putting it against my cheek. That's an interwebz suggestion. Any other ideas? Other than getting some pliers and ripping the tooth out myself. Considered (not really) and rejected because it sounds even more painful, lol.

Apparently I am an hour or two away from experiencing a derecho! Parts of Iowa got slammed with winds from 75-99 MPH and it is headed straight for the northern part of Illinois. I used to love a good storm, but in my advanced age, all I can think about are the "what if's". At least it is daylight, so I can literally see when it starts to blow over.

SIL went back into his school building today for professional development. I warned him to watch the skies as typically he would be headed home right when the storms are about to hit. All is eerily calm at the moment.

Good luck! The bad news is that this forecast was DEAD ON in terms of timing and expectations. The good news is that as it came towards our area, it was still a fast moving storm and the worst was over within 15 minutes. I have actually been in worse, underplayed t-storms that linger and stall. My immediate neighborhood was relatively unscathed, but a few blocks north there was more damage. Towns just several miles north and east really got clobbered, but I had heard the storm had slowed in its pace. Bright sunshine now! If I have to deal with storms, I definitely prefer the daylight ones! Much easier to put away all the flashlights, lanterns, and transistor radio than clearing tree debris!

Ice against the cheek should help. Have you tried swishing and holding salt water in your mouth and especially toward the tooth? Sleeping up slightly elevated might help. I believe trying to elevate anything helps keep blood away from the source of the pain, and therefore, reduces the blood source and throbbing.

By the time it got here it lost some of its strength but some still lost power. Fortunately, we did not. Our daughter's house didn't suffer in damage in the Chicago area. She did go to the basement with the boys though - all those tornado drills paid off. Glad you are safe. Yes much prefer daytime then night time storms.

Glad everyone is safe! It was so insane and fast. Dh got done mowing with just a few minutes to spare. The clouds built up in record time. We lost half a tree. Dh saw it swaying and moved our cars. That middle branch is hanging on by a thread and needs to come down. We’re probably going to look into having the whole thing taken down. It’s been suspect for while now.
