Wedding Woes

Friday Eve

Whew, I'm glad we're getting to the end of the week.  I think this is the first full week I've worked in awhile between holidays/emotional breakdowns/covid, so it feels abnormally long.

Nothing too much going on.  I've got an unofficial employee improvement plan happening today and then more training of newbies.  At some point, I'll have fewer new employees, but that's not happening soon.  We're letting go of one of the new ones b/c it's just not a good fit and I think there's at least 2-3 on the horizon for the build up.

Otherwise, SSDD.  No big plans for the weekend.

Re: Friday Eve

  • We're at a stay at home orders. We're essential services but our company decided to take it down a notch and alter who works at home.
Next week I'm Mon, Wed, Fri and week after it's Tues, Thurs.
We'll see in February because my boss has to fully WFH for 2 weeks because she's having surgery.

Funeral isn't changed because we're 8 people and funerals they consider essential under certain measures.

    Is covid over yet?
  • Starmoon - That is great!  I'm already in Phase 1C, but I may make the BMI limit too.  I should check.  I read that Smoking is a complicated condition?  If true, I don't think they should jump the line...

Work is still busy, but not like yesterday.  I also just got a back up outfit for DDs photo shoot since the Poshmark dress I bought still hasn't shipped.  I didn't see anything until after the purchase that the seller has 7-10 days before they have to ship with Covid.  I wouldn't have made the purchase then!

Guys, we are under 7 days until Biden is sworn in!  Woot!

My read is as of today, 1c is in for New Jersey! It includes smoking and I think that’s fair- it’s about your risk of dying if you get Covid not judging why you might be at risk.
  • Our HR department sent us the NJ state vaccine website to sign up reminding us that we're considered an essential business and that might get us further up the line. LOL - when I signed up last week and noted the business I work for, I don't think it improved my position on the list. Maybe if you work for an essential business AND have a pre-existing conditon? But my mostly-healthy 40 year old self is going to have to wait.

I'm just ready for this week to be over. I have a sneaking suspicion that I'm in peri-menpause which would explain my insane mood swings and irritability lately out of nowhere. I'm so annoyed and bothered by everything.
  • DH and I are who knows how far from our vaccines.  We still have a vacation planned for the summer and I am hopeful that we'll be vaccinated by then.  Our state should start vaccinating teachers soon which is progress.  It's nice to start seeing those I know personally reporting that they have received at least their first dose.

  • Very SSDD vibes here. Just super looking forward to the long weekend!
  • I heard the Johnson and Johnson vaccine will be coming out in 2 weeks as well.  Apparently high immunity and low side effects are reported from the studies.  If I get to choose which one I get, I want to choose this one. I wont get it in the next two weeks anyway.

Homedepot lost my cabinet during shipment, well, the shipping company admitted they didnt even put the order in correctly and it wasn’t even caught till the 11th.  Even after paying $99 for priority shipping on DECEMBER 23rd! I have a new one on it’s way, but I waited to long to figure why it was taking so long and wont get the new one by this weekend now, when my contractor was scheduled to come out. So now my contractor cant come till the 23rd (weekends work best for both of us), and who knows when they can remeasure for countertops?  This is a big headache but I know once it’s all said and done, it’ll be worth it.
    right?

  • Busy day, busy season. I hate people that schedule lunch time meetings.

Ugh.   That is sometimes me.  But can I say in my defense that when you try to schedule meetings with people and coworkers across multiple time zones this sometimes needs to happen or I'll have at least two hours of a day that are "no meeting zones".
  • ugh Charlotte - lunch meetings are the WORST.

Finishing up a project this morning and will probably be with the babe most of the afternoon.  He's going to spend the day at my IL's on Saturday and I'm SO excited to drink coffee alone and get some stuff done in the house.  Our basement is a huge mess and I need to put everything back (organized!) in the storage room.  We also need to paint our family room and get some general cleaning done.

I'm going to schedule a hair appointment in the next week and I can't wait!!  I have not had a haircut in almost 2 years (other than me cutting it in my bathroom).

Totally get the time zone thing. These people are all on the East coast (are largely all in the same city).
  • I have an appointment to get the vaccine next week! My state just opened it up to 65+ and 18-65 with a complicating condition. I’d def prefer not to meet the BMI criteria but I do, and got on the website at the right time. And my dad is getting it tmrw. I’m excited and also kind of just emotionally reeling.
I'm glad you are able to get it that fast!

I realize this will vary by state but, I am curious, if you or anyone else knows, what kind of "proof" does a person need to provide that they have a complicating condition?  A doctor's note?  Something else?  I haven't seen this discussed anywhere, which is annoying.  Including ZERO information on the official Louisiana Department of Health's website.

Right now in my state, it's only been expanded to people 65 or older.  But I want all my ducks in a row and ready to go, for when it opens up further, because I'll (probably) be in the next tier.

I came across info for TX in my Google search.  It was interesting that they specifically designated WHICH complicating condition a person needs to have at this time.  Not all of them were included.  They mentioned something about "proof", but that was just throwing up their hands and saying, "We don't know.  It depends on the county."  Not very helpful.  I looked to see if you had to be a resident of TX also!  Yeah, ya do.  Oh well.  I figured as much, but had to check, lol.

Proof of instate residency might be requested. No proof of complicating conditions required. The rationale is not everyone has proof, it’s a huge burden to get, requiring proof is going to have a disparate impact on different economic and racial groups, and demanding proof would slow down an already slow process
  • Honestly the vaccine situation is bullshit over here. I haven’t received mine. Our clinic still doesn’t have the okay to give the ones we have and there aren’t any appointments open for county. The shenanigans surrounding administration of this have been infuriating.

Otherwise SSDD. I did a leg workout two days ago that was my first one in like 8 weeks and now I’m not sure I even have legs anymore.

  • that is ridiculous that they have them but can't give them still @levioosa

I nearly got a leftover/last minute vaccine and actually had an appt scheduled but then they reversed course and said only those 60+ could get it. Which I'm totally fine with, but I did like the idea of being able to get one.
  • DD's class is now closed with a positive case.  Last exposure was Monday and they won't reopen until the 25th.  We will get DD tested in a few more days when she is at Days 5-7 of last exposure.

Oh no!  I hope DD and all the other children are okay and come back negative.  But I'm sure it's worrisome to have to wait ((hugs)).

Does her school follow masking protocols and distanced eating?

FWIW, we're finding that when a class has a forced quarantine due to exposure additional kids are not testing positive.

We are also finding that. The school where I work has had 9 cases (4 students and 5 staff) over the last year, and none of them seem to have come from school.
  • Boo @OliveOilsMom!  I hope that she's negative.  My nephew's class all got quarantined and they didn't have any issues with additional positives.

They mask most of the day, but it depends on if the masks are "distractions" to the kid wearing them.  They are also supposed to eat spread out too.  Her class is the 3rd that has closed since they reopened in June.  I don't know if once they closed a class, if subsequent kids tested positive.  They don't provide that extra information to the other classes.

  • Stolen and sent to my sisters.  :D
  • My 2021 is just that, but it's making me tired...
  • Teachers in Ontario were slated to get vaccines earlier, so hubby will get his sooner than me.  I'm happy for him - there was a study he read that people with gut issues have been having more severe cases when they get COVID.

I'm so busy at work lately I don't have time to post during the day.  But I'm trying to keep up with everyone's news!

  • In my book club there are several women who are 70 or older ( I am the youngest member at almost 60). All of them have gotten the vaccine or have appointments by this weekend. I don't know if Indiana is vaccinating people under 70 with co-morbidities. I'll have to look into that because unfortunately I too meet the BMI requirement. But hey at least there would be one perk to being overweight! H would meet it too. He keeps up with all of that stuff so I'm kind of doubting it since he hasn't mentioned it.
