Thursday

I'm sure you're all on the edge of your seats waiting for updates of my dating life.

We have a 2ndary parking lot that most people have to park in.  You get moved up to the building parking lot with seniority.  I am in the building parking lot.  I usually take a carload of people to the 2ndary lot after work, b/c it's 1/4 mile and when the weather is extreme, it's a poopy walk.  Somehow I managed to just end up with L alone yesterday, so I asked.  He sat there for a second and then said he was very flattered, he was going to go home and have a smile on his face all day, but he keeps things separated and b/c of work, no.  Then he said again, it's just b/c of work and I'm very flattered.  So, it was a sweet no and I don't think things will be awkward between us.

I was trying to watch a fun science show last night and realized my brain was just not there.  So, I took a long hot bath and went to bed early.  I've done some research on the covid brain fog and I'm trying to implement some things to help this along.  It is getting a lot better (names are good now, I don't seem to be having issues with long term recall anymore, and words are a lot easier), but I'm having a lot of focus issues (I cannot keep my damn time sheet straight at all, I'll log in and then forget to clock in/out, I cannot multi task or switch tasks easily, etc) and then just stamina (I am finished at 3, every day, no matter if I worked my butt off or tried to take it easy).  It's really annoying.  I'm trying to be honest with my employer, b/c they are used to me carrying one of the highest caseloads with no issue, but I just don't have the capacity right now.  We're also short handed, so they need me to be doing that; I told them today I just can't.  Blerg.  I am not used to, or really good at, not performing at my best levels.  If it isn't a lot better by the end of this month (that will be the 3 month mark of a negative test), I'm going to the doctor for help.

Otherwise, SSDD.

@VarunaTT, I DO love hearing the dating life updates from the singles on this board!  I appreciate your sharing so I can live vicariously, lol.  I'm sorry to hear that L said no.  But it was a "nice" no, that makes sense and is nothing personal against yourself.  I hope your COVID fatigue/brain fog continues to get better and you get back to 100%.

My usual very long Thursday, lol.  A busy day at work and then I start my weekly Costco scanning afterwards.  Not much else going on.

I'm trying to make a concerted effort to get my home more organized this weekend and next weekend.  Our poor Izzy dog is getting older and sometimes has trouble jumping up on the bed.  I want to get her one of those little stair steps, but I need to clear out space around our bed to fit them.

Our bedroom layout is frustrating.  It's a pretty large room, but the only place a bed with a mounted tv on the wall (my H's requirement) will fit is in one corner of the room.  It's a typical 10' wide room, but then it's 20' long.  But the bed, which is a CA King, only makes sense sitting along the short length.  So there isn't much room at all on three sides of it.  It would make the most sense to put the little stairs on my H's side, which is the only side that has a lot of room.  But he uses the bathroom multiple times a night and is barely awake.  I know he'd constantly kick the stairs or maybe even trip over them.

Maybe we can try switching sides of the bed!  Hmmm, is that too crazy and radical, lol?  I feel like we'd both get used to it pretty quickly.

At any rate, the other half of our bedroom looks like a storage unit and I want something more tranquil.  It could be a gorgeous, spacious room.  But it feels cramped because of all the stuff.  We also need to replace the hideous flooring.  However, I envision hardwood floors with a large throw rug and sppaacceee with nothing on the rug.  Set up an office area on the other side of the rug and room.  It would be so much more functional.

It’s Covid. Got a fever and the rapid test finally came back positive. I don’t feel all the bad but very tired.

Allergy hell. Had to step up my game, which I typically reserve for fall but apparently it's nuts.

BK was in such a silly mood. She discovered she can make waves with her hands in the bath .... that's fkn great lol

BK has a remaining cough, so we did eucalyptus bath and vapo rub on her. I think it's  made her a little better, very minimal coughing this morning.

@STARMOON44, that sucks! Glad you at least have an answer and aren't feeling too bad.
@VarunaTT, Disappointing, but at least it was a good no.
@climbingsingle, I want to know more about this vision quest! Where do they go, what do they do? What's the outcome?

Today is a Thursday that feels like a Tuesday. I cannot seem to focus and everything is annoying. I need a nap or a weekend or something.

Oh no @STARMOON44, I’m sorry! Hope this is the worst of it and you start feeling better soon.

Everything is chaos and I’m struggling. Daycare is closed, we’re having work on the HVAC, baby M now has a runny nose (but thankfully hasn’t puked again), my MIL came over thankfully. I have like 6 hours of meetings today that I’m going to have to duck out of at some point to get M to nap. Just chaos.

So, it's actually associated with a survivalist school that he's been involved with for about 20 years. He'll spend 4 days in the woods on a spiritual journey in the forested areas of NJ.  No food, only water. He's said that in the past it's helped greatly with overcoming challenges he's felt in his life. He's had some personal issues that he's been trying to work through and feels this quest is sort of the last puzzle piece.

@charlotte989875, so shots for lunch?  LOL  What a mess.  That totally sucks.

That's so cool, climbing! I'm so in awe of how people can survive, but it really puts everything else into perspective.

Also, has anyone seen @levioosa lately? I'm wondering how the bullshit job situation shook out and hope she's doing ok.

@short+sassy Switching sides of bed?  Heresy!  Hubby and I jokingly do this every once and a while, and it is always short lived even as a joke.  I don't do well on the one side - I get punchy.

Busy week, which is weird because I am finally FINALLY out of training classes.  It has been three months straight.  On the plus side I got a raise and a bonus for all my hard work, so hooray more money!  And I'm getting a lot back for taxes this year.

@STARMOON44 I'm sorry to hear that you got it!  I hope that you get over it quick.

I need clarification.  Is it no food at all?  Or they just can't bring food, but can eat what they can forage?

    I hope they can forage.

I couldn't imagine going 4 days without food.  I tried a fasting diet a few years ago.  It was supposed to keep your metabolism "shaken up".  One day, you would eat whatever you wanted to, the next day it was only drinking water and only eating a small amount of veggies for each meal.  And that was the pattern.

They warned you to have a lot of food for your first few eating days, so your body could better adjust to the fasting days.  That the first few fasting days would be tough, but then you would get used to it and feel full and satiated, even on those days.

I made it all the way through the first fasting day.  I expected to feel hungry.  But what I didn't expect was to feel so weak and sick.  I was also so tired.  They claimed you would lose 4-7 pounds a week, in the beginning.  The next morning, I'd only lost half a pound after that miserable day.  Maybe if I'd stuck to the whole week it would accumulate.  But a diet that made me feel that sick, didn't seem like it was healthy or right, so I abandoned it.

I am sitting here gob-smacked that a guy just referred to his wife as 'my heifer' in an e-mail. I...just...I'm...what?

Also, we got a supremely racist e-mail from someone about the type of people featured in stock photos on a marketing piece.

People are fucking out there today.

I know, it feels like that!  But I think we might have a good shot.

When we're at a hotel, my H doesn't even remember which "side is his side" and I neither one feels "wrong" to me.  But maybe it's different when it is your own bed and room.  I shall see.

No food at all, and I also cannot imagine it. I've passed out before from not eating and my blood sugar dropping very low.

I am here. DH has both kids upstairs in bed with him. DD is passed out after screaming her head off and DS is watching Superman on his tablet. He has finally moved on from his Nightmare Before Christmas stage and into the superhero stage. I am eager to take him to the Warner Brothers theme park now that he knows who some of the characters are, last time he didn't. He had his first swim class with the new instructor this afternoon. It went really well. I was nervous how he would take to it since he hated his last instructor so much.

I am starting back at the gym next week. So excited. And I also reached out to my riding coach and will return to that soon too. I just need to get the schedule worked out with DH. He is doing scuba certification but I don't think there is too much of a conflict.

I love that you asked @VarunaTT!

Cold dreary day here.  After work it's counseling for the kids and me and leftovers for dinner.  I really needed it to be Friday too.

@climbingsingle, I’m thinking the quest from Yellowstone.  Amipartlyright?
@short+sassy change the sides of the bed this late in? You wild ‘n crazy woman you!
@STARMOON44 nooo! Hope the worst of it’s gone?
and @VarunaTT I’m very proud of you for even initiating that talk. I’m to shy to do anything of the sort.  So good on you deapite the verdict.  Although I totes get why. I probably wouldn’t mix business and personal life either.

Last night I had a thermalift facial again. I’m paying a lot for them and driving pretty far. I’m finding that it really isn’t doing much for my skin, but as I’m talking to the admin today about something, she goes “your make up is really nice today”.  I switched foundations a week ago so maybe that and the facials ARE working? I did buy an at home thermalift device JIC, but maybe I should keep up with the pro stuff if it’s really working?
Last night I made some keto brownies but ran out of eggs (I rarley use them).  My recently turned vegan friend said try “vegan eggs” for baking.  1 tbsp of ground flax seen, 3 tbsp of water = one replacement egg. And let sit for 15 before mixing. Brownies turned out pretty good…took longer to cook, which I think is a mix of my cooler than normal oven and the “vegan eggs”.

I've done that before when I was out of eggs!  It seems to work pretty good.  I always have ground flax since I put it in my homemade oatmeal.

Oh good idea. I put a 8 oz bag on my walmart order but they were out so I got a 16 oz for the same price! Lots of flax seed and I eat oatmeal almost every day!

They had one in a Family Guy episode.  I wouldn't be surprised if N's "critique" would be throwing up his hands in horror and rage deleting the episode.

In that same episode, I had an uncomfortable experience of seeing myself in Lois.

She sat down at a slot machine and became totally in-tranced.  Her family would come over and talk to her and all she would reply, without looking away from the screen, is something like "Yeah, yeah, yeah."  Eeeek.  I am a lot like that, except with video poker, instead of slots.

But then I've also never gambled away my car to the casino (that was part of the episode), so at least there is that, lol.
