Monday

Back to the grind. How was everyone’s weekend?  I had a productive but not overly crazy last couple days - hoping this week passes without too much craziness for anyone!

Re: Monday

  • I had a really nice weekend. We got to leave work early Friday. As soon as I got home, I put on my pjs and poured myself a glass of wine.
Saturday I cleaned the house and ran some errands. Made a pecan pie and then enchiladas for dinner. Watched TV with the kids.
Sunday was equally as relaxing. N made blueberry jam. We caught up on The Last of Us. I made artichokes for dinner.

We're finally get an actual snow storm tonight into tomorrow. 5-8 inches. Not sure what's going on for tomorrow - hoping my company will do a late start at least.
  • Weekend was OK.  I was bored if anything.  Glad it wasn’t so crazy for you @ei34.
i purchased tickets to see Ashley McBryde in June on Friday.  Super stoked for that! It’s a birthday gift for my mom, we’re all into country.  She’s awesome! Well, her last album dropped wasn’t, but I need to buy the one from 2020 so I know the songs lol.
Dad is home but Grandpa is back in the hospital.  May need surgery (appendicitis) and they’re thinking of long term care for him. He’s dead set against that and likes living with my aunt.  I don’t know how that’ll turn out, but I think it’ll be best for him and my aunt tbh.

  • Weekend was productive!  Saturday we stayed in and I spent the afternoon doing laundry and house cleaning.  Once I was done I grabbed the St. Patrick's Day decorations and set up the house.  The pillows on the couch are now ready to celebrate!

Sunday we went to church, finished celebrating and then I ran to the store while DH was chilling on the couch and masked.  So far I'm feeling like myself so I'm crossing my fingers that Covid spared me.

We're bracing for snow tomorrow out here and I have a feeling that based on the winter it's going to be a dud but hey, I guess I can get excited for a couple inches.
  • Back finally. G was in the hospital for 4 days and his oncologist didn't like his blood counts enough for him to go to school last week so i was off and home with him. N had his EEG last Monday and we don't have results yet but i'm hoping it's nothing. Both boys are back at school and did great at dropoff this morning!

I'm back at work after 10 days off and it feels like it's been forever. Getting caught up on email and projects and hoping i can just right back in.

Catching up on posts from the last week too!
  • I have a really important superficial question.  I woke up seeing Aubrey Plaza hitting the social media posts due to her face at the SAG and then saw people saying she's wearing a cutout dress.

IS it?  Or did she just make a choice to wear a dress BACKWARDS??
  • Even though last week was a short week for me anyway, it was a really tough one.  I was so glad to have the weekend.

Friday turned into a complete shitshow.  I've complained about him before, but I wasn't seen for my doctor's appointment until it was 2 1/2 hours past my appointment time!  I can always count on my appointment being 90 minutes late from this dysfunctional office.  But 2 1/2 hours was the worst it has ever been.  I'm not exaggerating, I think they forgot about me.  I know at least two people who came in 1+ hours after me that got seen first.

I finally leave the office at around 1:30.  But then I get an important phone call.  Now it's 2:00 and I haven't eaten since 9am because of that appointment fiasco.  I place a to-go order on the Taco Bell app and then start driving to the store.  The app tells me it's ready at 2:08, which was right before I got there.  At least that is going well!  Oh, but wait.  No.  My order is not ready.  It takes them 25 minutes to prepare my order and they weren't even that busy.  I finally got home at 3:00pm!!!  So much for having my half-day Friday as a sick day.  That was a way longer day then if I had gone to work.

I had originally planned to switch to a different doctor.  But now that I am moving out of state, it makes more sense to suffer through with this one.  Unfortunately, it is a lot of suffering.

I should have run some errands over the weekend.  But I just said "screw it!"  Stayed home and decompressed.

Rant over.  Onto more positive news.  The client just e-mailed the info this morning about the new WFH system.  That's one of the things the big boss was waiting for to give me the go ahead to WFH, once I move.  I think he wants to see how well it works, first.  But definitely a step in the right direction!

There is still so much to do before I could even list my personal home anyway and it's discouraging.  But I keep reminding myself to look at the big picture and, although there has been a delay, I will be leaving this whole toxic city in the relatively near future.

I also have a showing today for one of our duplexes.  We also had one last week that went well.  No offer yet, but the buyer is interested.  It would be her first investment property and it was also the first one she saw.  So she wanted to see a few more properties before making a decision.

  • @CharmedPam, sorry to hear your grandpa is back in the hospital.  Hopefully he doesn't need surgery.

@VarunaTT, Happy Birthday!  I hope your birthday it went well yesterday.

@Casadena, I'm sorry to her G was in the hospital for so long.  Poor little guy!  At least it sounds like things are getting back to normal.  Good luck catching up with work.  I know that's always a slog.

The dress is weird. It looked normal on the red carpet, but then super odd when she was on stage presenting. I haven't seen any pictures of the back of it though, so it's hard to tell.
  • This weekend was great.  We didn't have many set plans and that was nice.

Friday night, we made easy stuff for dinner and then we watched some 1923 and Drive to Survive.  Saturday, we woke up and went on a 3+ mile walk/run.  We took DefConn to help set up for the wrestling tournament and went to lunch and did some shopping.  My younger sister was sick, so she gave me her ticket to Hairspray.  I'd never really been into the show or anything, but the cast was great.  All the leads were really strong.  Yesterday, we did a 4+ mile hike.  Afterward, DH and I got pedis and went grocery shopping.  We grilled steaks for dinner and just chilled for the rest of the night.

It's rainy and crappy today.  SSDD otherwise.
  • It’s hard to say about her dress. Not in love with it but it looks like the designer wanted it that way…

OK - the curve in the back looks like it and obviously with a woman's curves all of this needs to be taken into account.

But I feel like I want to yell, "Kriss Kross will make ya.....JUMP JUMP"!
  • Good morning.

IDK what's up with my mental health, but it is all over the place.  I'm going back on the Lexapro at 5 mg and see if that helps enough or if I'm back to the 10mg.  I didn't do anything this weekend, I cancelled all plans except for seeing my mother on Saturday.  I turned off all social media and just...well, it just wasn't a great weekend.  Weirdly, I can totally tell not just from what I"m feeling, but b/c I've been using the Finch app and watching it compare this month with all the previous months in what it tracks?  Yeah, I am very much falling and I need to get it stopped.  So, highly recommend that app, I've stuck with it for almost 200 days now, which is the longest I've ever stuck with any app that tracks habits.

I did watch all of Drive to Survive.  This is the first time I've watched the race season itself, before the seaon of DTS about it came out.  I don't ever want to hear someone complain about how DTS dramatizes F1, b/c DTS left out so much juicy stuff that I wanted to hear/celebrate.  Team orders drama in Red Bull and Ferrari, K-Mag getting a pole position, Russell's first F1 win, WTF was really going on in Ferrari, etc.  I was hoping to get some real "t" about some of those things and they just left it all out.  I'm wondering if the F1 structure isn't tired of it and barely gave them anything to work with.  However, the F1 fan here at the office (he calls himself a fair weather fan) seems to be really enjoying it, so maybe it's just like reading the book before seeing the movie?

I am almost all caught up on Mayor of Kingstown though.  That show is excellent, so well written and acted, but it is so damn dark.  It makes Peaky Blinders look fairly uplifting.  I'm really enjoying seeing Jeremy Renner doing something that shows off his skill as an actor, but even the supporting actors are just amazing.  Except for the story with Iris.  I don't like her, I don't trust her, and I want her to go away (the actress is doing an excellent job with what she's been given, but it feels like a "the show needs a romantic interest" angle).  If McLursky sleeps with her or starts a romantic relationship with her, I will stop watching the show, b/c it just doesn't make sense at all.

My friend is coming over today after work to help me with a project that I need to get going on and I just can't seem to.  Otherwise, SSDD.
  • Weekend was so nice! I had a dance competition Saturday that went really well and then Sunday was a good combo of couch time, laundry, groceries, and cooking. And I got a good long walk in which I never want to do in winter even though it always makes me feel great.
  • @short+sassy. 2.5 hour wait is ridic.  I guess I’m lucky in that I’ve never waited over 5 minutes before. And 1/2 hour for fast food? Get out of that state ASAP! Lol.  But I see why there’s no reason to switch docs now.

  • I spent 90% of my weekend on tiktok because of Pedro Pascal.
If you can, watch him on SNL - they found the most giggly human to host lol!

I watched Last of Us ep 5 last night and stayed up later to watch Big Bang Theory ep because that ending had me sobbing. :') This show will ruin me.
I joked with M that I wanted to go back to ep 3 for happy crying over a beautiful episode.
  • @VarunaTT we only watched the first episode.  Right now we're seesawing between that, Shrinking and we'll probably start The Last of Us.

I'm thinking I need to plan a trip to the Montreal Grand Prix for DH sometime  in the next few years.
  • @banana468 I'm going to try and go to Miami next year, I think.  Maybe Vegas?  Those are both cities I've always wanted to visit, so it might happen.  Though I do have friends in Austin, which might make it easier.
  • Weekend weather was so nice after a week of snow storms, wind and cold temps.  I got out Saturday and raked some of the snow off the roof in critical areas.  Then cleaned up the patio and areas the plow guys missed.  Sunday was recliner church and then I ran a bunch of errands.  It was sunny and mid-30s so I ran around in a sweatshirt.  Back to work today and we have rain.  Everything is very slushy with the foot of snow we got last week.  I had to run out and do a blood draw this morning before work and hope to get to the post office over lunch.  We have chili in the crockpot for supper so no planning for that.  Most of adulting is spent trying to figure out what's for dinner!

Montreal is drivable which is the appeal for us.  The other part is that we could theoretically take the kids if it worked out.  Right now it's a bit of a PITA with childcare and while I'd love to go to Vegas and Miami I'd want to enjoy the nightlife without the kiddos.   My mom is my dad's caretaker and an hour away and while my ILs are in town it's really not fair to my kids or my MIL to ask that of them.

At least for FF, it's not that bad at other chains.  But, every since the pandemic, I seem to always have trouble at TB.  That's why I hardly ever go to one now.

But I still highly concur about getting out of this state ASAP, lol!

  • My Girl Scout cookies order arrived this morning!  I had ordered it from a coworker.  Nothing like a couple cookies for breakfast dessert, lol.

My work is kinda pissing me off again.  This is actually pretty ridiculous, but at least it is primarily someone else who is going to be wasting hours of their time.

One of my main tasks is preparing steel packages.  It is a lot of steps and extremely detailed Excel work.  I wrote the manual on it.  I have FINE-TUNED this process so that it is as fast and efficient as possible.

But now one of the engineers...who doesn't even know how to complete one of these packages...is using the steps in my manual to "streamline" the process and remove the "repetitive steps".

Oh really?  Well, good f**king luck with that.  There are no "repetitive steps" and if he doesn't even know what the process is, I don't know how he'll be able to "streamline it".  But, whatever.

I was asked to answer any question he might have.  Me, sweet as pie, "Sure, of course."  Though I'm actually insulted and think all of this is an exercise in futility.  Though if he actually has any grand ideas, I will be open to them.  But my other worry is they are going to change how they want things done, but will actually make it worse and be more complicated.

We got some GS cookies last weekend and then we were walking out of Lowe's yesterday, where there were GS's selling some, and we were all, "We've already bought 10 boxes." The girl says, "Thanks for supporting the Girl Scouts!...But you could get 2 more and have cookies for the whole year!!" Which was a great sales pitch.

    She's going places, LOL
  • Weekend was good. We really enjoyed Les Mis and dinner with DD. SIL stayed home with the kids. DD and I had a fun girls' day on Saturday. H and SIL had boy duty. We got home yesterday and the puppy is exhausted after 2.5 days with the grandsons! I'm leaving on Saturday for a girls' trip to Florida so I've started pulling together some stuff. I had to make a run to Ulta to get get some travel size skincare stuff. I also just placed an order with Beauty counter. It probably won 't be here before I leave, but that is ok. We have our church book club tonight. The book was good - Wine into Water. It is about the water crisis in the world and how the founder of Wine into Water did it. Interesting read but not well written.
  • GS cookies are in full swing for us and today in our local council you can finally place orders for delivery and the new Raspberry Rally is only available that way.

DH and I have to get our orders in and then stockpile.  It's a way to support Chiquita and her group and that's by far been the best thing she's been involved in over the last year and a half.

Do you know why the Raspberry Rally is only available online?  I'd love to try it, but don't want to pay for the shipping on 1-2 boxes of cookies, lol.  Maybe next year.

I did get one box of the Toast-Yays.  I think they are fairly new and I hadn't tried them before.  They're good, but not as good as some of the other flavors.  At least for me.  I wouldn't buy them again.

I think you must have a different bakery near you if you can get the Toast-Yays!  Our NE bakeries don't make that variety.

I'm thinking that Girl Scouts of America is forcing the Raspberry Rally online due to supply chain.  By doing it that way it's giving each troop an allocated amount rather than allow people to stock up with the door to door sales that aren't entered yet.  And by making them mail order only they're serviced from one location.  Last year there were some supply chain issues for new varieties and I think this is an effort to combat that.

But I DO NOT think that cookie itself is worth it and the pricing of mail order is not worth it unless you're going to get so many cookies delivered that the freight works itself out.  Maybe they'll be on tables for sales but after trying it I'm still a standard GS cookie flavor kind of girl and can enjoy the new Adventurefulls flavor too.

I like the Adventurefuls also!  So does my H.  I tried them last year and got another box this year.

I also got two "classics".  The Thin Mints and the Samoas/Caramel Delites.  I heard that last cookie is marketed with a different name, depending on which factory they came from.  Down here, they are Caramel Delites.  But I've always remembered them as Samoas.

The Toast-Yay is supposed to be a nod to Cinnamon Toast.  Because of the cinnamon flavor, it tastes a lot like a snickerdoodle.  It also has white icing on the bottom that adds a bit of vanilla flavor.

I declined girl scout cookies this year and now I wish I hadn’t. Someone I know has a daughter who sells them and apparently online starts today?
I guess I’m boring because I like the lemon ups lol.  Apparently raspberry rally and samoas are already sold out online…

Edit; as soon as I posted this, our admin informed us that my boss overbought and brought some into work! So I don’t have to pay the shipping.  However, the choices are minimal.  Lol. Oh well.

  • Raspberry rally is likely not sold out everywhere but may be for your specific council.  I think each one has an allocated qty and once it is hit orders are going to be canceled.

That said, if you want to order online and pay to ship them to you I know a way to make it happen.....
