• I would bet anything that there is a much higher divorce rate in couples who smash vs those who feed each other a bite respectfully.
• Too aggressive for me.

• It's fucking ridiculous. I judge everyone who did cake smashing. EVERYONE.

• I think it's so passive agressive. Plus, gee, you have cake all over your face. Oh gosh thats just so funny and wacky. lol lol lol. ::rolls eyes::

• This definitely will not be happening at my wedding. Tacky!

• It's trashy AND messy. Nobody wants a trashy and messy wedding.
• So inappropriate, disrespectful, and creepy. I really have to wonder who the first guy was who thought that up. I bet their marriage was annulled on the spot.
• We will definitely not be smashing cake. It's rude and unnecessary.

• We fed each other nicely with a fork ;)

I think DH would have been shocked if I'd smashed him with the cake since that's really an American thing, isn't it?
• Expat, I think it's a gross people thing.
• I've told FI that if he did this, I seriously wouldn't speak to him for the rest of the day/night. It's so disrespectful.

I probably would've done it with a fork, but there were no forks nearby.

ETA: I re-read that and it seems like I'm defending doing a cake smash. I did not do a cake smash.

I told FI that as far as I'm concerned, cake smash is grounds for annulment.

• Honestly I could not care less. We didnt' do it just because I didn't want to have sugar all over my face, but I find it very difficult to work up that much energy over whether it's trashy or not for other people to do it. To each her own.

• I'm against it when I've spent so much time trying to look perfect and spent so much on my dress - I would not risk screwing that up for a little cake smash.

But we might do it for the groom's dinner.

• We are considering not even having a cake. Neither of us like it, but I'm not sure if you can really be married w/o spending $1000 on a cake.

I'm not into the smashing mainly because I don't get it. It's one of those traditions that I feel like the meaning is lost. We aren't doing a bouquet toss (I always hated them when I was single) or a garter toss (um... awkward) either, so take my opinion based on that. I apparently hate all wedding traditions.
