Re: Hello? Is there anybody out there?

  • White as in gray white. I started getting them when I was 16. I have almost a patch of it on the top of my head. I feel like it is really noticeable when it isn't colored.

Ahh. I am afraid of greying early too. I have the same hair as my dad and he was almost completely grey by age 30.

  • I think I have similar hair color to my dad and he has a lot of grey's at 63, but doesn't really look like he's all that grey.  But I think with longer hair it will be more noticable.  If I had my mom's hair color I could go grey with grace and style.
  • Musu, my grandpa was a redhead and was completely white by 25. I have heard that red hair goes white earlier. I have red in my hair but it's faded out a lot from when I was younger. The good news is that it really is a white color and not so much grey so it will be pretty when I'm old and ready to let it be natural.

  • Yeah, I will be happy to drive 2 hours and pay upwards of 100 dollars for a stylist that knows wtf she's doing. I can't find anyone here and after this last one, I am 100% going to the chick who did my wedding hair from now on.
  • I paid $175 last time I got my hair cut and colored. That was with tip, and I also got a glaze since I'm super blonde, but I won't pretend that didn't hurt my wallet. It was a new stylist because my old one never got my blonde right. This lady finally did, so I will pay a ridiculous amount of money for the color I want. I get more upset about bad hair color than I do about bad hair cuts. Maybe because I've never really had a bad haircut.

I just got back from the gym. I hadn't been in months. I've been getting exercise all week riding the bike at the shore though, so I feel like I'm already getting back on track.

  • My FIL still had red hair when he passed away at age 85.

My hair is brown...but the white (as in gray) has been coming in fast and furious.  It started when I was in HS...but the last couple of years it has become really noticeable.  I was dying it...but I haven't since March.

I saw my parents Thursday and my mom exclaimed "Oh you lightened your hair!"  no mom, the white is just more noticeable.
  • Natural highlights Hockey.

My hair dresser did say the white started increasing rapidly once I started teaching. I'm willing to buy into all these reasons it's going white and ignore the fact that I'm getting old.

  • I'm going to be pretty bummed when I find my first gray hair. It would be hard to see since I don't usually let my roots grow in very far though. I guess once the whole root IS gray, I'll be able to tell.

  • My dandruff shampoo washed out some of the blue out of my hair this morning.  There's still a lot of color left, but I was kind of pissed because I just had it done this week.

  • I think my H gives me all my white hair hahaha but it is probably my students....nothing to do with the fact that I am 33.

My dad has really nice white hair.  Part of me keeps going back and forth about just going natural color vs coloring it.
  • I will absolutely not go gray. I will be the 90 year old woman who still dyes her hair. My nana didn't stop coloring her hair until she went into assisted living/nursing homes and couldn't do it anymore. My nana was also a hair dresser when she was working, so there's that.

Your hair is blue?  I want to see.

Ugh, it took me way too long to get my stupid pictures on FB.  StupidFB's photo uploader thing sucks.  I miss the way it was when it opened all the photos and you checked the ones you wanted uploaded.

I think it looks better in person than it comes across in the picture.  Also, it looks better when it's curled but I'm lazy and my curling iron is a piece of shiiiit.  There's purple, blue and teal mixed in there.

  • I hate uploading pics to facebook, it always takes forever. My engagement pictures took a ridiculously long time. Of course, that didn't stop me from uploading 130 out of 169 of them. Heh.

  • Hi everyone!

I'm back home after over two weeks away.  My pool is a swamp with large tadpoles, and the boy kit is now 8.5 pounds and completely unafraid of Berkeley.  Girl kit has also hopped the dog gate to explore the rest of the house, despite the dog's presence.

I'm currently muddling through a shitton of work-related emails.  :/
  • Welcome home, Mica! Are you guys going to name the kitties at some points or have you settled on just boy/girl kitty?

  • The boy kitty is Pepo and the girl is Isabella.  Isabella was a queen of Spain, and Pepo was the most annoying kid on the Spanish reality tv about poorly behaved kids.

Fun!  Colored hair is totally NMS for me, but I love it on other people.

  • I love the names, Mica.  How was your trip?

J, I've been wanting to do colored hair FOR-FREAKING-EVER.  I'm taking advantage of the fact that I'm a) no longer 12 so my mom can't say no, and b) no longer part of corporate America.

My hair has an awful streak of gray in the front that look skunk-like if I don't shell out $100 every five weeks for cut/color/wax. Gah. My mom greyed so pretty around her face  in her late 50s and here's  me with skunk stripe at 41. Actually it started at about 36. My hair is dark brown with kind of an auburn-y tinge, but I dye it more auburn. Sometimes with highlights, sometimes not. Depends on the mood.

ETA: I also have a shiiitton of hair. Super thick. And it's wavy but when it gets long, it's so  heavy that it pulls itself straight.

  • J&K - did you answer this earlier and I missed it.. how did Box Kitty do while you were gone?
  • I have some greys as well, but I'm not ready to admit defeat yet, so it just stays the way it is.
  • Yay that Mica's kitties have names! Holy cripes on the boy one. BIG! And welcome home from your trip!

  • Mica, your kitty names are cute!
  • Yeah, when I dye mine, I dye it a medium brown color with auburn low lights and caramel highlights.  All this talk has me wanting to dye again.

  • Oh, no, I missed that you asked, Loops!  She actually did pretty well.  I think the Feliway diffuser helped a lot.  She was pretty twitchy, because ILs were only getting her about half her normal doses of medicine, but she didn't seem too stressed out.  She's tired though. S he's been sleeping since we got her home today.

  • That's probably close to the best that could be expected then J&K.  Are you still thinking of trialing a second kitty now that you're back?
  • The trip was awesome.  I'm just bummed to have missed out on two weeks of kittendom.  But I love Spain and can't wait to return.
