Re: So sad... Bride stabs Groom the night before the wedding...

  • I was just going to post that!  I wonder what they were arguing about.  ...and why if family and children were around no one intervened before it got to the stabbing part.

Sounds INSANE!  Also, wonder if she was a knottie by chance....

But if they were awake and fighting I'd assume yelling if she's about to stab him, you'd think the family would be awake.  Anyway, yes, don't feel sorry for her, she'll plead temporary insanity and get off easy most likely.

Just want to throw this out there, that the Insanity Plea actually doesn't come out in actual court as much as people think. Can she try? Sure. Will it work? Most likely not.

I feel for those who lost their loved one (minus the person that killed him).

    1. No, its just we all have similar thoughts and post them in relatively short amounts of time. While I'm responding to a post, I can't see what others are saying. Visa Versa.

    2. That is YOUR opinion. There are laws that dictate what kind of punishment a person can / can't receive. We don't all agree with them, in fact, most people don't agree with them (even the criminal as they'll usually want less of a punishment). However, just because it's our opinion that we don't like something, doesn't mean it's 'incorrect'. Also, who are you to determine what someone else deserves? This is why we have a justice system in place.

  • I doubt she would get off on an insanity plea, I learned in psych and law that the vast majority of people it works for have very serious, documented psychological conditions (like schizophrenia), they didn't just haul off and kill someone, and they don't go free, they go to a psych ward.

I don't get feeling sad for her, or implying that it was any kind of 'accident' FI and I have had a serious fight or two, but I ended up screaming at him, not Stabbing him twice with a knife.  That doesn't seem like an 'accident' kind of thing. Of course she's in shock, she murdered someone and is going to jail.  That has a jarring effect on an individual.

Are you insane? This woman committed a horrific act of domestic violence and your response is "Oh noes! Her wedding day is ruined!" Please let me know when you've exited your happy bride fantasy land bubble and have relocated your ability to think reasonably so we can have a rational conversation.

Also, side note, you cannot tell me your reaction would be the same if the genders were reversed.

  • Also, my guess is the family that was present didn't want to get involved because fights like this were not unusual. It is extremely rare for a couple to go from "awesome" to "whoops I stabbed and killed you" in the course of a single argument. And she may not have intended to kill him, but I can't se how she didn't intend to stab him. You pretty much know that you're stabbing someone when you drive a knife into their body, KWIM? And FTR I have extensive volunteer work with victims of domestic violence, which is why I think the way I do about this. This is now reminding me of the musical Chicago. "He ran into my knife. He ran into my knife ten times."

I can't remember the specifics of PA's criminal code (I don't practice criminal law) but in most states an intent to inflict serious bodily harm transfers into the intent to kill if death results.
