Dexter Finale anyone? (Spoilers inside)

Re: Dexter Finale anyone? (Spoilers inside)

  • I loved that season.

I also loved the Ice Truck Killer and I wish we'd see more of the brother.

  • Me too, J. It would be hard to ever top the 1st season, but I feel like that kind of villain needs to return. Someone who is just as smart as Dexter. Travis was a bumbling idiot.

  • I also feel like a lot of random things were introduced into the plot of this season that didn't need to be there, and then not really resolved.

Like the Trinity killer's kid.  WTF?  And I also don't like that Astor and Cody just up and went to Grandma and Grandpa's never to be heard from again, except random drunk Astor (that was last season though, but still) for an episode.  Well...alright then.

  • I know I thought that was weird too, that whole episode had so little point to it.

I also thought that about Astor and Cody. I want to see them again, because it seemed like things ended on a good note for them and Dexter. Plus wouldn't they want to see their brother, ever?

I read a review of the finale today on a website and laughed out loud at the line "And then Deb wanted to go and tell Dexter she wanted to be his sister wife" bahaha.

  • HA!

  • Do you watch Homeland at all? I started watching it a few episodes in and got caught up and haven't watched the finale yet but I'm soooo excited. It is so so good.

  • No, it never really interested me, but we ARE looking for something new to watch now.  Sell me.

  • Yeah I'm sad that we never see the kids anymore.

[QUOTE]Chiming in a bit late on Dexter here, but I am so frustrated!  Mostly because, in the beginning, it seemed like Dexter went after bad guys the police couldn't catch or prosecute.  From what I remember, he wasn't intentionally preventing the police from doing their jobs.  And now he has, for the last few seasons.  It came back to hurt him big time with Trinity (losing Rita) and now he's sacrificing Harrison and many others because he wanted Travis for himself?  What about the code?!

YES.  That's EXACTLY IT.  You're amazing.

<div>Exactly.  Lately, it seems like he's racing against Miami PD, trying to beat them at their own game.  I thought the reason he was involved with the police was to help out, not to hinder investigations.  </div>

I just finished watching it since the kids are resting and OMFG HOLY CRAP is all I had to say.  I do agree with this line of thinking though, I think it's ridiculous that Dexter is trying to hinder investigations now.  But honestly, a lot of the shiit he finds out via his own investigations would NEVER hold up in court, so if they catch a murderer, they would have a hard time finding evidence to hold him (based on some of Dexter's discoveries at least).
I'm still firmly convinced that the therapist is being paid by LaGuerta to distract Deb and plant random ideas so that she fvcks up (because we know that's what LaGuerta wants).
I'm really intrigued where the next season will pick up.  Right there in the Church?  Years later?  Hmm.
Thanks for starting this thread btw.  I was about to come do that myself :)
  • Sorry I lagged on this J, but.. not sure how much you saw of previews but Homeland's basic premise is that it is about a CIA agent (Claire Danes) that suspects a recently returned home POW is actually working for Al Quaeda (prob didn't spell that right) now and the season is a lot of her trying to figure out if he is or not on her own (since the CIA doesn't think its a credible threat). It also deals a lot with the POW's home life after he returns and the audience also trying to figure out if he is "turned" or not. The acting is really phenomenal. Claire Danes is great.

  • I can see what you guys mean about the hindering investigations vs. finding out himself and whatnot. I am guessing they are making it that way to help set up "the end"? Maybe? Since presumably Dexter had been doing this for years before the series started so the seasons might represent his slow decline into more sloppy work.
    image
  • That does sound interesting, MuSu.  Maybe we'll check it out!

Yeah, I think this is the set up to Dexter's slow demise.

  • I'm totally late. I don't get Showtime so DH has to DL the episodes and I had to wait until he got off work today so we could watch the finale together.

I agree - I don't like how he's hindering investigations. And I'm curious why Astor and Cody don't visit. LaGuerta is being nice. Too nice. wtf.

I was surprised Angel's sister didn't die. I'll let it go that there were Cheerios on the floor and a knife on the counter. But the black duffel bag, really? Ugh. However, I like Angel and I'd feel bad if he lost his sister.

That intern is cray cray. I'm curious for things to go off of that and I want Dexter to find the hand before anyone else does!

I don't like how I have to wait 9 months until the next season. Ugh. There are only 2 seasons left... hopefully things will get better than season 6, and not just go downhill or something.
