[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Question: RE: Weddings in 2013 and beyond... : I am on the same soapbox as you.   Really ladies to each their own.  Relationships are unique and the reasons for some having long engagements, while not rationale to you, is very rationale to someone else.

This!! For a second I almost got offended by the initial question. In the end its about what works best for each couple. For us that will be 2.5 yrs from engagement to " I do". But that's for our reasons and choice. I just choose not to judge. I'm happy for ahy

I'm happy for any bride. That's what I meant to say.

I hope you aren't offended. When I posted the question, it wasn't to offend anyone, it was to get clarity or some type of examples form others...which I did. I realize that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and thoughts, which is why I felt comfortable enough to ask the question. It's good to share stories (I feel), because then you can see what others are going through compared to you.Smile

We decided in January 2011 that we wanted to get married in October of this year. I told FI I would wait for him to purchase my engagement ring.  We didn't do any actual planning until April and that was only finding a venue.  Other things would be easy to do because I have access to vendors as a planner.  I received my engagement ring on June 24 and the wedding is well on its way to be on track ofr our October 14 date.

I never wanted to be engaged for more than 6-8 months, but I wish it was a little longer than the 3.5 months before the wedding.

    Anniversary

Naw! I put on my big girl panties - LOL!! You are definitely right, here is the best place to ask the question because it is a good discussion.  Initially it felt like judgement rather than inquiry but it's all good because if the question isn't asked, how would you know?   But it's all good - for real.

The beauty about all of our weddings is that they are made for us individually.

[QUOTE]Like flawlessfay, hubby and I were engaged in 2009 and got married this past April. We did what worked for us. <strong>I'd rather hear of a long engagement than a wedding that's paid for on credit cards. I think everyone has to do what works best for them.

I honestly think it takes at least a year to plan a wedding properly and have all the details come together so longer than a year doesn't seem that strange...besides most ppl usually wait because of money
