[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Too early for an evening thread? : I never did figure out who the asshole was that put the dent in my car.  One of my neighbors (or of their visitors) wasn't paying attention when they backed out of the parking spot next to me and put a nice big dent in the driver's side of my car.

That happened to me when I was parked at a friend's house a few years ago... I came out, there was a big dent, with no note, no nothing. We knocked on the people across the street's door, no answer. So we called the cops... funny how quickly the people across the street came out of the house at that point to "explain" that they were going to ring the bell later and let us know they'd hit the car. I'd be really angry if I'd never found out who did it, because it was more than a dent... it was like $1200 worth of damage.

  • Beer I have Heineken, Bondington, Abita Strawberry, Abita Amber, Abita somethings else (the house guests bought an Abita variety pack and left it here).

Wines have I mostly pinot noirs.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • There's a wine lable called "Layer Cake" that does some really nice wines affordably too.
  • I'm a big fan of amber's so I vote for that.

  • I am a beer snob.  Part of the reason I won't play on my brother's beer league kickball team is cause they drink cheap beer.

At least they said something though! That's good.
I wish people would realize that shiit like that sometimes happens and just own up to it.  I was visiting a friend in Chicago a few years ago and someone broke in my front window.  I didn't have anything in the car to steal but my GPS mount was still in there.  My broken window cost more than the damn GPS.  I'd rather have just handed it over to whoever did it.  Never found out who did it.

Yesterday I was shopping at walmart. I picked up a bunch of stuff and then went back to the site to store spot and picked up something I had shipped.  It ended up covering up one of my items, so I didn't end up checking out with it.  I got to the car and realized it and went right back in.  It wasn't even a question for me.  Granted I was scared to go in.  I've heard stories of peole doing that, going back in, being honest, and getting in trouble.  But I couldn't just steal like that lol.  Thankfully it went over fine.
  • I called my insurance company but never got it fixed because I didn't have the money to pay the deductible as I was dirt poor at the time.
  • Loopy, my old cat was a beer snob.  If you put a Bud or Coors in front of her she'd turn away but she'd climb over your head to get to a Fat Tire.

<div>I'm not really a snob, but HATE, like HATE all domestic light beers.   Coors light , Bud light , Miller Lite never touch my lips.</div>

  • I was excited to try the Cupcake Red Velvet wine, so FI and I bought a botlle... Thank God it was cheap because it was terrible. We ended up pouring it out. However, we're picky, so maybe you'll like it.

It's been a long week. I've been at my job for a month and I really like it, but I work all the time (or it seems like I do). Also, I have to work the last Saturday of every month, so I have to go in tomorrow at 6AM. The pay will be good, though, because I put in 56 hours this week.

Oh, and, FMIL, who is usually super nice and sweet, has been getting on FI's nerves the past few days and is being to annoy me. She is questioning/criticizing all of our future decisions. (FI told her were looking at houses and she said we should get a condo or a new house. We don't want a condo and can't afford a brand new house). I don't know if she thinks we have a money tree or what... Anyway, I told him to stop talking to her about it, so we'll see... Sorry, it's been irritating.

Hope everyone has a good night.

Haha that's pretty much all I'll drink, because it barely tastes like beer. Although Bud Light is pretty awful.

  • I want m&m cookies.  I bought a variety pack at the grocery store bakery the other day (they didn't have a pack with just m&m cookies) and I've eaten the 4 m&m cookies out of the pack and I keep looking at the rest of them and passing them up.  WTF?
  • What are the rest of them, Loopy? There are very few cookies that I'll pass up. I love cookies.

  • Is Cupcake wine sweet?  I'm not a huge fan of wine but I love sweet wines.

Bay - Some of them are... I imagine the riesling probably will be. I'll let you know once I open it!

ETA - Try Bonny Doon Sweet Riesling sometime... I love it, and it's definitely sweet.

  • Bay, have you tried a Schlink Haus Spatlese?  It's my favorite sweet wine.  And it's $8 a bottle (Here, anyway).  I love cheap wine.  I mean, not like super cheap wine, but I usually spend 8-12 bucks a bottle and I'm good with that.

I'm eating dinner and relaxing a little from work before we get busy.  We're not nearly as motivated to pack tonight because we're in pretty good shape....and we're tired.  But I'm sure we'll get plenty done!

<div>Than maybe I'm more like this.  I worked part time during wedding planning (and paying for) at a restaurant that did a world tour of beer every year.  They had over 200 beers available throughout the year from all over the place and I really enjoyed trying different kinds and stuff.  It gave me a new appreciation for GOOD beer - stuff with flavor.  the domestic light beers are too much like icky water.</div>
  • Angel, the moving truck comes tomorrow at 10, but the walkthrough isn't until Sunday night or Monday morning (it's not scheduled yet), so basically we just need to make sure all the furniture is ready to go and with a clear path, and we can keep moving boxes and smaller stuff on our own after the truck, so that's nice.

  • Anyone who likes the sweeter wines.. have you ever tried moscato? Riesling used to be my fav, but then I tried moscato and now it's my new favorite
  • Hi JK - you'll get the packing done.  Are you going one room at a time or randomly?  I'm a little scared for H to help me unpack cause a lot of my boxes are so random.  I packed over like 6 months so if I ran out of things in one room that I thought I could live without, or if a box got too heavy, I'd wander the house looking for something else to put in the box, or something lighter to put in the box to fill it up.  I have the most random stuff in boxes together as a result.  LOL.

Angel, I think there's chocolate chip, oatmeal, and maybe peanut butter?

I bought a pack of sugar cookies the other day and they were all gone by the next morning.  Clearly I have no willpower.
  • I'm drinking a Heineken right now.  I might switch to a Chateauneuf-Du-Pape wine next.

  • Moscato is so sweet I can only drink a glass.  And I love sweet wines.

Loops, right now our priority is things that the movers won't/can't move, and stuff that's on furniture or in the way of furniture being moved.  It's mostly been the bedroom and K's gun room stuff so far.  So it's pretty random.  But I'm an excellent box labeler.

  • I really like moscato, Chelsea.
  • It took me 2 days to eat the 4 m&m cookies, but still..
  • Hi!

We just got in from dinner.  I had a NZ Sav Blanc and a red Cotes du Rhone.  And good food.

  • I can drink maybe half a glass of moscato.  With a dessert cheese plate.
  • I haven't tried Moscato, but I may next time I'm at the liquor store.

Loopy, I would house all of those cookies in under 5 minutes.
