It's not a matter of them not wanting to, it's just never happened. Sad part? We all live within a 2 hour radius. It's possible, we've just never arranged it.
I keep saying I'm going to plan a dinner and invite them, I've just never carried through with my own plans.
Have your parents and SOs parents met? No, they have not. Although my mom and FI's mom are Facebook friends.
If not... Why haven't they met?
My parents live in Upstate NY, his parents live in Suburban Denver in Colorado, so it is kinda hard to get them together for dinner I'm hoping they'll meet before the wedding, but I'm not sure it'll happen.
One week in? I think. That was a long time ago. We were in high school then.
How was the meeting? Did you set it up?
Meeting went fine. It happened because BF when was coming over to hang out. I think it's easier to get your parents and BF together when you're living in the same house as them (and they're asking why you want a "strange" boy to come over lol).

Yes, our parents have met. It was actually pretty long into our dating relationship, about a year or so, even though they live in the same city. My parents had FI's parents, me, and FI to their house for a cookout in the summer. All parties involved wanted it to happen, but my mom took the initiative to invite everyone over. The parents hit it off really well and everything went surprisingly well
If so... How far in to the relationship? I don't remember exactly...Maybe about a year into our relationship?
How was the meeting? Did you set it up? It went really well. My mom is in MD and came out to visit. BF and I hosted a dinner at my place with my mom and his parents. All got along really well...but we've both grown up with very similar traditions & family "styles" , so it was no surprise.
My BF's parents and my parents met Christmas of 2009, about a year and a half after we started dating. My parents flew to AZ (from NY) to spend Christmas with us, and we planned a day trip down to Tucson (about 2 hours) so they could all meet.
Our moms loved each other (I knew they would) and everyone got along great. Now whenever we go to BFs parents house for a holiday, we skype with my parents so they can all say hi to each other, and they send each other little gifts from time to time.
Have your parents and SOs parents met? Yes, they met last August.
If so... How far in to the relationship? It was a year into the relationship. We live in MD/PA and his mom lives in NC... so that's why it took so long.
How was the meeting? Did you set it up? It went well. Dad broke the ice by getting BBQ sauce all over himself, the table and my mom. We set it up. BF and I were visiting his family and my parents were down visiting my dad's side of the family. We met inbetween to hand me off to my parents... and brought his mom along for dinner so they could meet.
If so... How far in to the relationship? I guess they didn't meet until I was moving my stuff to SA. So a year ago, two years into our relationship. We had to pick up some of my stuff from their house (FI had brought it down from school with him so I wouldn't need a uhaul) and his parents made burgers.
Their second meeting was at my parent's house for my graduation party. My FI's dad walked up to one of my uncles and started talking to him not realizing that he wasn't my dad. It was hilarious.
How was the meeting? Did you set it up? Both meetings went better than expected. I was really nervous about his parents seeing my dad's crazy huge family.

Oh, my... let's see.
Yes, they have all met. Mom and MIL met a little bit into our engagement. I can't remember when exactly it was, but Mom came to visit to help me with wedding stuff, and we went for coffee with MIL and SIL.
The rest of the family met at the wedding rehearsal the night before we got married. LOL
To be fair, though- my parents live in West Virginia and we live in Louisiana. It's a bit of a trek.
If so... How far in to the relationship? How was the meeting? Did you set it up?
It was 10 months after Danish man and I started dating. We knew we were getting serious and so we thought it was time for them to meet. I set it up at a Cheesecake factory that was located between the two families, they live like 80 miles apart. It went fine, though a language barrier was quite awkward, Danish man and I sat in the middle and had to do some translating and clarification. Good thing my adorable 2 year old niece was there to entertain everyone with her cuteness. Food was awesome! A little awkward when they started talking about Danish man and I and how FI's mom would disown him if he let me get away.
If so... How far in to the relationship? About 2 years into our relationship...
How was the meeting? Did you set it up? They all met right after the bf and I moved in together. We invited my parents and his parents over for dinner and so they could see our apartment. Neither family lives in the same area as we do, so we had to do some planning to get them over for dinner and whatnot, but it went really well.... everyone got along pretty well.
My parents and BF's parents met before we were dating. Our brothers were in the same baseball programs.
Once we were dating, we've had them both over for BBQs or to go out to eat. We're both super close to our families, though, so inviting them with us isn't really a big "omg, they're meeting each other" moment - it's just a "let's go get some dinner with our parents".
I'm not sure that his dad has met ALL my siblings, but pretty much everyone else has.
I guess, to tell you the truth, I've never had much of a desire to grow facial hair. I think I've managed to play quarterback just fine without a mustache. - Peyton
Nope and I highly doubt they ever will. Mostly because I speak to my mother about twice a year - I don't want to see them so I wouldn't subject his awesome family to it.
If so... How far in to the relationship? How was the meeting? Did you set it up?
It was a couple months into the relationship. I was in my undergrad’s dance show so all of my fam (grandparents included) and BF and his parents all planned to come to see me and go out for dinner afterward. However, BF realized at the last minute that he had this nationwide mathmatics contest that Saturday (lame) so I got to referee all the introducing all be myself.
The two families get along really well. In fact, we’re pretty sure BF’s brother got a bit cranky at another party because our families seem to mesh better than their family and his wife’s.
How far in to the relationship? The first time was probably a year or so into our relationship. His parents came to visit from Germany, and we went for a road trip. We made a stop at my parents' house for a BBQ.
The second time was the Thanksgiving before last. Both sets of parents came to New York City and we attempted to host a full Thanksgiving dinner in our tiny apartment.
How was the meeting? Did you set it up?
Interesting. Our parents get along well, despite the language barrier. FI usually does most of the translating, so it is a bit awkward when he isn't around. (I really need to step up more with the translating.) They've actually been communicating much more through Facebook, with the help of Google translator in the past few weeks since our engagement.
Seven months in. His parents came down from PA to visit him and they met my parents.
How was the meeting? Did you set it up?
The meeting went okay. Our dads got along really well because they have a lot of the same interests. Our mothers were decent to one another but they didn't have much to talk about. I didn't set it up my boyfriend did however. He figured it would be nice for our parents to meet.
They met my mom about a year into the relationship and they met my dad about a year and a half into the relationship
How was the meeting? Did you set it up?
It was okay. They met when my mom when she helped move me down to Colorado the first time. There was so much drama that trip though that they didn't get to really talk much. They met both of my parents when I moved down here the second time and it went much better. They've also met Jeff who is a close family friend who is really protective of me. That was an interesting meeting because they are all so different. They all seem to get along pretty well though
My favorite uncle is coming down in April with my cousin to look at colleges, it will be interesting to see how the meeting between him and BF goes.
Yes. Our Mom's met unofficially when we were in high school and both still living at home and my Mom came and picked me up at his Mom's place on her way into town. Both my parents officially met both his parents at his brother's wedding in April.
How far in to the relationship?
It would have been around 2.5 years by the time the Dads met, and the Moms met the Dads. The Moms would have met a couple of years ago.
How was the meeting? Did you set it up?
My Dad was taking pictures at BF's brother's wedding. It wasn't really a set up meeting, but obviously both sets of parents were there, and therefore they met. Since then, they've met on a couple other occasions, but never anything formal.
No, my parents and BF's parents have never met. We've been dating for almost two years!!! But there is an hour drive between the two points...so I don't know. Eventually they will meet, but I'm not worried about it right now.

I joked about how they could meet up in LA without us when my parents were flying to Australia.
There are plans for them to meet this summer, his parents have to fly 8 hours for us and my parents have to drive 8 hours for us, so I guess it is fair?
