Did you watch the Oscars? If so, what did you think? I did not. I did enjoy my friends making commentary on FB about it all night, though.

[QUOTE] Anyone else glad that Avatar didn't win best picture? I'm glad. I didn't even see it, but I've always been a huge fan of "Avatar: The Last Air Bender" (Which, I'm getting nervous about being a movie this summer) ... so I'm still a little mad that I keep hearing "Avatar this" and "Avatar that" and think for a second "Oh, yes, awesome series" ... and then of course, it being about the "blue people movie", lol.

Meg, I saw a couple episiodes of the show on Cartoon Network. It was pretty good. I have a couple friends, sister included, who are big fans of the show so I will be hearing if the movie is any good. I think I was the only one in the theater that knew that it was also called Avatar. They pretty much illiminated that title. Maybe for confusion?

It's a girl!
Anyone else glad that Avatar didn't win best picture? I was rooting for "Up".
Favorite Johnny Depp movie: "Pirates of the Carribbean" (the first one), "Sleepy Hollow" and "Edward Scissorhands". The man is such a chameleon I'd watch him in anything.
Most expensive jeans you've ever purchased: Full price jeans at GAP. Which were totally worth it--3 years later they're like new.

Avatar? Yeah. I don't think they did as well as they thought they would.

Expensive Jeans? $40

Haven't seen it, and have no desire to

Yay, I'm not alone! I keep getting confused and I *did* see the movie.
The series is amazing, although I think they could have used an extra episode or two to tie up some of the loose ends they left. I'm definitely nervous for the movie this summer, considering the disaster that is the casting. How much clearer did they have to make it that these characters are not white???

DH and I looooooooooovvvvvvveeeee "Avatar" ... however, we know better than to trust M. Knight ... and the trailers already have us scared (Ok, seriously? That was the best they could do for Katara? And while Sokka looks just like the cartoon character ... he looks like a frickin' chartoon character!!!!!). But we loved the series so much, we know we're going to see it.

Yeah, I don't trust him either. The saving grace for me right now is that the bending looks AMAZING. So I'm definitely going to see it. I just may need to come home afterward and put on my DVDs and watch Book 1 straight through to get the taste out of my mouth after.
Have you seen aing-aint-white @ livejournal? They'd made some great casting suggestions. It's a shame MKS didn't care about actually representing the characters. I don't actually see the resemblance with either Katara or Sokka, except for Sokka's hair. They're supposed to be Inuit!! And Zuko's face looks barely scarred at all.
Okay, rant over. But nice to see a fellow fan. I got my nephews (to be) hooked on it, but they like it on a different level than I do, lol.
