Sunday Morning (and meal plans?)

Morning everyone! It's a lazy day here so far.  H got up, fed the dogs, let them out, and fell asleep on the couch.  When I walked out to the living room, one dog was curled up on his feet, and the other was on the floor by his head.  Rough life.

I really need to go grocery shopping today, but I'm completely blanking out on food. Anyone want to share recent delicious recipes? Or meal plan for the week?

Re: Sunday Morning (and meal plans?)

  • Morning. I'm at work, was alone but another CW just showed up.

Our meal plan is kind of taking it day by day. H will be on a diet of ice cream, jello, oatmeal, mashed potatoes, and whatever else is soft enough to eat. Depending on how he feels, I'll either just make something simple for myself or what's on the menu:

    Lasagna
    Chunky Beef Chili
    Out to Sea Pasta
    Zesty Southwest Mac & Cheese
  • Ohh corn on the cob sounds good :) I can't wait for our farmers' markets to open. I think the one in our city starts next week!

Glad you're starting to feel better, Duds!

Sesh- is he having tooth work done, I assume?
  • Steph, gum surgery in 2 places. We're not sure how he'll feel, so we're preparing for soft foods just in case.
  • Morning. This week we will probably have: Chicken piccata Fried pork chops with roasted new potatoes and peas Hamburgers, corn on the cob, and rice Grilled chicken, vegetable medley, mashed potatoes Spaghetti and meatballs with garlic bread We typically just pick the main dish an then make whatever sides we feel like that day so those may be swapped a little bit.

  • Morning and happy Sunday!

I wish I could be more of a help with meal plans but I'm in deployment mode which pretty much means I eat the same thing every night. I was like that before I met H and lived with him. It's basically spicy grilled chicken every night with either a baked potato or quinoa salad and a side of veggies. I'm boring.

I downloaded the free trial of Netflix yesterday and I got really into The United States of Tara. I'll probably watch an episode or two today.

  • boo to deployment.  How are you doing? How are the pups doing?

<div>I'm good. Sometimes I'm just okay. But I'm never doing crappy which is good, I think. :-) Ike cries at the garage door sometimes or tries to go find him in one of the other rooms of the house. That's probably the saddest part for me. I know they miss him so much. Hopefully I'll get an e-mail in the next week or two though. </div><div>
</div><div>Until then, I will continue to organize the shhit out of the house and watch these awesome shows on Netflix!</div>

  • Morning! Another relaxing day- just going to work out soon and we are going to the Snow White movie today!

    Sesh -good luck to H!

I am annoyed with one of my brothers. I don't really like to stay up late drinking anymore (plus I easily get sick from alcohol, which is also not fun) and he texted me last night that if we go to the cabin for the 4th to "leave my skirt at home". So sorry if I don't enjoy getting wasted as much as the rest of them. It makes me want to plan my vacation up there for a different week than the 4th. I am just really frustrated.

    My meal plan includes:
    Cheesy tuna hotdish
    Beer- in the rear chicken
    Marinated Flank Steak
    hamburgers on the grill
    Potatoes with meat gravy
    Chicken and spinach manicotti
    Tacos
  • Kate- my brother is the exact same way. He's 7 years younger than me though so his hangovers haven't gotten as bad as mine yet!
    imageBabyFruit Ticker
  • That would annoy me too, Kate. I'm not a big drinker and always get comments like that.

Speaking of meals, I recently discovered tuna with cucumbers. I love tuna, I love cucumbers, so why didn't I ever think to combine the two? I've found my new favorite lunch sandwich.

I wonder if a chicken salad sandwich would be good with cucumbers too? It sounds good in my head right now.

I don't blame you. I'm not as big of a drinker as the rest of my Irish family. My parents are 60 and drink more than I do. I hear it from everyone.

Dexter has seriously gone downhill after Trinity.  I'm betting that this upcoming season is either the last or penultimate.  I still watch it though!

All I have so far is:
Caribbean pork medallions (http://www.weightwatchers.com/food/rcp/RecipePage.aspx?recipeid=56241) with rice and salad
    chicken parmesan with pasta
    Hamburgers

I had a sub, so it was Subway tuna with American cheese, cucumbers, and lettuce.

But when I make it at home I'll forgo the lettuce. When I make tuna, I use mayo, a bit of mustard, and a bit of cayenne pepper.
  • Dammit! The station pulled Dexter and Californication from Netflix and I can't watch it there anymore. But I can watch every episode of Battlestar Galactica. I am cancelling Netflix.
    imageVacation
  • Californication is another awesome show
    imageBabyFruit Ticker
  • I've never seen Dexter, or Californication. Our favorites are:

    Deadliest Catch
    True Blood
    Justified
    Boardwalk Empire
    Game of Thrones
    The Big Bang Theory
    New Girl
    The Walking Dead
    Falling Skies
The River (sadly, I don't think it will see a second season)

Ha, that makes us look like total TV junkies. But we really only watch a few of them on their designated days. Mostly we jsut catch up with On Demand.
  • I have a major crush on Hank Moody, the main character of Californication. He's crude and a slut but he's freaking hot.
    imageBabyFruit Ticker
  • H and I skipped cable/dish when we first moved into our house and just did Hulu+.  We watched the entire series of Battlestar Gallactica, and it was awesome.

    Update on my meal plan:

    Greek chicken salad
Baked parmesan tilapia with corn and quinoa
Fajitas with beef tenderloin and peppers/onions (probably over brown rice instead of actual tortilla shells though)
turkey burgers with baked sweet potatoes and steamed veggies

I might just do brinner another night, because we have eggs to use up too.
  • Ben wasn't feeling well this morning so we missed church. But hoping to still make it to brunch. For dinner this week, Asian glaze drumsticks with rice and cheese wontons, crock pot Mac and cheese, some kind of chicken and probably spaghetti and turkey meatballs. My sister is coming over later today and is going to help me bake some cream cheese lemon bars.

  • I have no meal plans for the week.  We kind of just go with whatever we feel like or have.

Im going to ask H to make my favorite this week.  He makes this pasta verdichio sauce with artichoke hearts, kalamata olive, roasted red peppers, mushrooms and feta.  Its really yummy.
