@PrettyGirlLost, I know you weren't; shreks was the one who posted the gif and said "in response to the apparent stripper shaming, shame on you all." I don't care what title you want to adorn yourself with, but if you do things like sticking an oblong fruit into a genital cavity and accepting cash in exchange for a person to orally extract it from said cavity, I think that is DISGUSTING and I think you're a person with measurably low morals. The feminist movement and this idea it's concocted about "slut shaming" does not protect nor preclude you from judgement.

@lc07 Yep. Exhanging your body for cash is gross. Like I said in an earlier post, if this is your chosen profession, it leads me to believe that you have absolutely nothing else to offer society, so you degrade yourself to the lowest form of being--a purely physical one--and you better not have a single problem with anybody else degrading you in a similar way.

  • I'm just not sure. I'm not a stripper or a porn star. I don't really think about them or their professions much. So I don't really feel one way or the other about it. The topic is interesting to me to consider.

I do have more to offer society than my chosen profession, however, so I'm not sure I follow that line of thought.
  • I'm sure your chosen profession involves much more than what strippers, porn stars, or prostitutes do. I guess the difference for me is profiting from an essentially skill-less endeavor. Granted, some strippers have some serious dance skills--I won't deny that. But to get nearly or completely naked and bend over in front of a crowd or a camera for the pleasure of countless numbers of strangers, to make a buck? I just can't defend it. But that's just me.
  • In the spirit of hike's post, I think I'll retire from my soap box about the nude industry and try to stop laughing.

In other news, on whatever show is on my TV, somebody just said something about eating a banana. I think I'm all set on that particular fruit for a while.
  • Lucky for me, FI and I are on the same page with this! Lol! I did take a pole dancing class for a friends Bachelorette party and I'm not going to lie, it was a hell of a lot of fun! I even suggested the idea to the friend who is planning mine. However the thing is, I wouldn't be doing this in front of a bunch of dudes, I'd be utilizing what I learned to benefit my future hubby. ;)

As for going to a strip club, honestly I wouldn't be turned on, I'd probably just start laughing if a guy tried shaking his junk in my face, and I have no desire to go to one. My fi has been to at least one in the past for friend's bachelor parties and he told me he finds them gross and shallow, and he doesn't every pay for lap dances. He thinks they're shallow because these women are only pretending to be into you so they can get your money, and gross because you don't know where these chicks have been and he's in a room with a bunch of other dudes who are getting turned on. Nuff said, but you get the idea. YUCK!

I was just going to ignore the stripper thing to avoid derailment, but now that it's past the point of no return I'll just say the "ew strippers making money off their bodies!" thing always gets me.

so do athletes. and models. and trophy wives. Everybody makes money off something they have, and even if the money were the same I think working retail or fast food would be way more demeaning, and most of us have done something like that at some point in our lives.

I won't ever understand what guys get out of it, but then I don't get ice fishing either.
There was a whole thread here recently about the Kartrashians and isn't Kim the most infamous of all? Kanye West said in an interview, when asked what Kim is talented at, that she's "talented at being beautiful." We ALL agreed that her success is deplorable and she's trash. She's no different than a porn star or a stripper to me.

As for athletes, it's inaccurate to say that they profit from just their bodies. They train and hone their skills for years and years, and what athletes are capable of is far beyond the average person picking up a ball.
  • That sucks that the B&G are willing to lose all of these friendships over something so trivial... it's just a party....

Honestly though, if they are acting like this because of your SO and friends suggested a party, you are all probably better off being away from that cray-cray.

I've had friends who have been to bachelor parties where hookers were hired and slept with and I've had friends who have gone to bachelor parties where strippers were hired for the hotel and the groom was then enticed to use a jackhammer attached to a dildo on the stripper or, in another case, pull a banana out of her vajayjay with his mouth. Shame on all of those guys for degrading those women like that!  Their behavior is disgusting.  And I think the strippers' behavior is gross as well and bordering on prostitution.  I'm not going to get into a debate on prostitute shaming here; as I said earlier in this thread, people have to do what they have to do to survive sometimes, but that doesn't mean I think their life choices or actions are necessarily ok.

I already told FI that he is not to partake in any sort of "dollar tricks" if there are strippers present at his b-party, but now I have to show him this post and tell him all of that shit is right out as well.  WTF is wrong with guys? ><
Uh.... but no shame on the women for sticking a banana in her vag and letting a man who's about to be married eat it out of her in exchange for some cash? How is it degrading her if she's willing to do it, especially for money? If anything, shame on HIM for being so gross with another woman that's not his fiancee.

Sorry, but I'm not going to accused of "shaming" anyone who willingly does shit like this FOR A LIVING. I don't have to bite my tongue and hold back my opinion of disgusting behavior like this because someone wants to put a cape on and cry "power to the pole dancers!" There's a reason why strippers aren't universally adored for their profession: they're willing to engage in the most intimate of acts with people in exchange for money. And I don't discriminate between male and female strippers.
Nobody has to be a prostitute or a stripper to survive. Absolutely nobody. Not buying that poor-little-strippers scam for a second.

    (Fucking quote boxes.)

Whoa. What the hell kind of 'strip club' are
    you going to?

  • What in the hell did I miss?! Strippers with bananas in their vajayjays?!
    Anniversary

I'm gonna go with 'not my circus, not my monkeys.'
  • I know someone who is not allowed to leave her husband's side. If she spent anytime with her family (not like she was boozing with her girlfriends), her husband would HAVE to come.  If he chose not to come, he would call her every 15 minutes.  One time, I invited this relative over to watch a movie.  Her husband called her 6 times while we were watching the movie.  The convo went like this: "Nothing.... watching a movie... yeah... still..... no we didn't go anywhere... yeah, I'm sure."  She has alienated herself from everyone to have a relationship with him.  She also had to hide candy wrappers from her husband.  RIDICULOUSLY CONTROLLING!I  I no longer talk to this person. The shitshow that was her husband just got to be too much drama to handle.
  • I'm calling bullshit that any guy has really done the dildo/banana things with actual strippers. They're either just making shit up for the sake of bragging (sounds like something they might have seen in a porno, which granted would be degrading but not the same as a stripper doing it) or they hired hookers, not strippers.

They were strippers, not hookers. At least not to anyone else's knowledge. And I guarantee you that my guy friends weren't "bragging" about untruths in an effort to impress me, as they know I'd find that kind of thing repulsive. To each other? Maybe. But they'd have no reason to lie to me. If anything, the only incentive they'd have to lie would be in the OTHER direction, claiming to never have partaken in such activities. But we're extremely close and tell each other everything, so I got the full run down of events whether I agreed with them or not. From your other posts in this thread, you seem to hold strippers in high regard, so I'm sorry if these stories have done anything to detract from that. I'm by no means suggesting that all strippers engage in this type of behavior, just that some do and have at past events. My only point being, crazy things happen at some of these bachelor parties and since, in a lot of instances, the wives/girlfriends are none the wiser, I find it impossible to judge the couple without knowing the full extent of what was being planned.
  • I've heard first hand from dudes about things that go on at some bachelor parties. I've heard about ping pong balls being shot out of the stripper's crotchal area. I've heard about guys eating things out of there. That stuff does happen.
I think calling it degrading and horrifying is quite a stretch. No one is forcing the stripper to do this against her will. THAT would be horrifying.

And I have no problems with strippers or porn. It's all OK with me.
  • I'd guess that, if people weren't willing to pay for it, the entertainment wouldn't be willing to do it. And if the guys in attendance didn't say anything and let it go on/encouraged it, they're far more gross and disgusting than the entertainer. It wouldn't behoove a stripper to continue doing certain things if people kept complaining about them, right? Supply/demand. If she/they are doing stuff that people don't like, they're not going to keep getting hired.

I have seen this. It was at a live sex show, though, not a strip club. For those wondering how it works, the performer put the unpeeled banana in her vagina and then peeled it halfway. So the audience participant was eating banana "out" of her vagina, but not anything that had actually been in her vagina, if that makes sense.

I have no idea if this is how it is usually done. I don't go to enough of those sorts of shows to have a sense of best practices. :)

To be clear, the banana act that my friends were a part of did not take place in a strip club. They had hired a stripper to do a private performance in their hotel room and that was part of her "act." Same with the jackhammer dildo stripper.
  • Look, @jenniferurs, I don't give a fuck about strippers. But you're putting all the blame on them when the demand/market for sex acts (and performing sex acts for money is illegal in most of the U.S., though stripping is not, ergo these women who were hired were not strippers whatever they/the guys claimed) comes from men. I place the lion's share of the blame therefore on the shoulders of our society that dictates that men are entitled to women's bodies like they are objects and not people.

I am fucking disgusted by your friends. Sure, get up to all the kinky shit you want with consenting partners/groups/whatever, but if you're having to pay someone to do it and there is anything beyond simply naked dancing, prostitution is involved. And I wouldn't be opposed to sex work itself necessarily if it wasn't so blatantly one-sided and full of rampant abuse. But it is, so I am.

You must have me confused with another poster. I didn't put any blame on anybody. I just relayed the story.

Okay, you only said you'd find it repulsive. JellyBean was the one saying strippers are gross. I'm still disgusted that your friends would do such things and find it normal and acceptable behavior.

It is a great workout! I've taken pole dance classes for about 4 years off and on. I'm in the process of buying my own pole for my place so that I can do it at home. It's great because it builds confidence and muscle at the same time. Just start slow.

As do women who dance around a pole. It's very hard work to do some of the moves strippers do, especially wearing as little as they are. Also, you seem to be under the impression that stripping in the only job these women might have. It's entirely possible that this is a side job or a second job for them. Either way, if it puts food on the table and a roof over their head, why do you care?

Also, while I don't disagree with the whole "they're told to be nice to wives/girlfriends/etc.", they don't know if you are in fact a significant other of the guy you are with until they ask. It could very well be a guy friend taking their friend who happens to be a girl out for a fun time at a strip club. It also depends on what kind of strip club you go to. In my area there are very few where couples can go in and one of them happens to be a high end club. Maybe that's why my view on it is different than yours. Either way, some women who strip happen to be very intelligent and more than likely working multiple jobs.

  • This thread took a turn for the awkward.

And yes, I agree that there is a lot of lady hate going on here.  You all sound like the @preloo girl.

Simmer down.  Not all strippers have secks with the men.  And who cares if people get nekked for money.  It doesn't hurt you.
