Songs as table numbers

My fiance and I love Dave Matthews. We got engaged at his concert last year. Because not everyone loves the band like we do, we wanted to have the table numbers actually be songs. Anyone have a good way of doing this or any suggestions other than just printing them out and putting then in a frame? Thanks!

Re: Songs as table numbers

  • Table runners are a waste of $$. No one will look at what they say. No one is going to care. At the end of the day it's a minute detail of your wedding.

That said, if you still decide you want them, are you saying you are going to have the lyrics printed out on the runners? I am confused by your wording "have the table runners actually be songs" - as songs are not tangible items that can go on a table runner... So I'm kind of confused about what you are trying to do.

  • I think it's a good idea, as long as they are different enough and in large enough print that people can find their tables easily without having to closely read every single table's song title. We want to go with traditional table numbers but we also want a different quote at each table relating to our theme, so we have sign holders that will have a double-sided table number card as well as a double-sided quote card side by side in them. I can't find a picture online to show you, but I did a trial at home and it holds very well (everything will be printed on cardstock). Just an idea so that way you can have the best of both worlds.
  • I'm confused as to where the conversation of runners is coming from.

I dislike table numbers/names that don't follow some type of sequence. If you have more than 5 or 6 tables, it just makes it difficult to find your table because you have to look at every single table rather than knowing "if this is table 4, table 14 must be a ways away." Stick with numbers or letters. You can still incorporate the titles into the signage.

  • I was thinking they would be pretty much alphabetical. Its a way to incorporate our love of Dave Matthews without playing a ton of songs (our first and last song are both by them however.) I do understand that there might be confusion though, so thanks for the heads up on that =) Our venue is somewhat smaller so I'm hoping that too many guests won't wander around.
  • If it were me, I'd number the tables and just put the song name under the number. Numbers are easier to work with for guests, and you can still have song titles or lyrics if it's special to you.
  • I think that even if you have some kind of name scheme because it's "you" or it's cute, which is fine, you should have a numbering scheme as well to make it easier for your guests to find their respective tables.

I agree that table numbers or letters work much better in some sort of sequence. Song titles may be confusing to guests. Maybe consider having the lyrics printed in the background in a much lighter shade and then have the number printed over the top in a much darker shade. Like if I was doing black and white, I would consider having some of our favorite lyrics in a light gray in the background with a black number overlayed. Does that make sense?

How about a "Billboard Top 20" style sign with all Dave Matthews songs? That way, you can incorporate your songs in a logical sequence.
