WR Help

So FI works with his mom and she gave us a bunch of things for the wedding from a friend who gets free stuff (suntan lotion, foot pads ect.) anyways.   She gave me a card with a note about how excited she was for us and to welcome me into the family and there was a small gift two hankerchief pieces of cloth about size of a square folded up, one had a white lace fringe the other a blue lace fringe.  She gave me them to be my something old and something blue, they go back to FI's great grandmother.  I'm so excited to have them but I don't know where to keep them day of.  I want to use them somehow, but I'm not sure where.

My only thought was pinning them to the inside of my dress.  I wouldn't want to use them as actual hankerchiefs because them seem to delicate for the washing machine.  It's my last day of work I have a few things to do and a few meetings but I really don't feel like working today. blah....

Re: WR Help

  • @Peaseblossom55- I received two handkerchiefs for my wedding as well from my great grandmother and I had my florist pin them to the stem of my bouquet. I had white ribbon wrapped around the stem and she just used these small pearl pins to attach them to the side. They were my something old.

It was really pretty and I had them with me except when @Lapeanut1018 was holding my bouquet during the ceremony when I needed them the most lol. I had snot running down my face!

  • @Southernpeach89 I'm so afraid of crying during the ceremony I'm pretty sure it will happen.

I didn't think about using it around the bouquet honestly, that's a good idea.  I may bring one of them with me when I visit the florist see if it will work somehow.

  • My mother had her ring bearer pillow (a heart shaped) split in half, the stuffing taken out, and sewn into two flat pieces of lace/satin, giving one to my sister and one to me. We each carried it around the stem of our bouquets.

I have no idea how it ended up back in our stuff, but luckily it did. I think it was a great way to honor my parents, and I'm glad I got it back so that I can pass it on.

BTW: screw my photographer who never got a picture of it.

    Still here and still fabulous!

  • I agree with PP. I think the best place for them would be on your bouquet.

Wow that is great you got a part of your mom's wedding day stuff. It sucks your photographer never got a photo of it though.

Awhile back I asked my mom about help, for something old, new, blue, ect and she had nothing for me.  I'm glad now I don't have to resort to my old blue underwear Saturday....

  • I pinned handkerchiefs to the inside of my dress on the bottom.

  • @swazzle that was my original idea too to pin them to the dress

  • I wrapped my great grandma's handkerchief around my bouquet.  So apparently you have two options, haha.  We are boring on this NEY board :)
I guess, to tell you the truth, I've never had much of a desire to grow facial hair. I think I've managed to play quarterback just fine without a mustache. - Peyton
  • It looks like I will have to bring the fabric with me when I go see my florist on Friday!

  • You could be like that lady who pinned her newborn baby to her train and just do that with the fabric. :-P

    hahaha just kidding!

I really like the idea of adding it to your bouquet. And by the way, that is incredibly sweet of your FMIL. I think I would have started bawling.
