My altered dress now has "puckers"

Oh geez. I'm about to have a heart attack. My beautiful, beautiful gown...i ordered it at the beginning of the year and it was delivered in April. Due to the salon's advice, I scheduled my alteration appointment for mid September. I went last night to try it on and they screwed it up ! They took it in on the sides and now both seams on my hips have pucker marks where they didn't! I told them about it and she said it just needs to be pressed. She then took the dress the back to iron it and came back out with it all zipped up in the bag. I said, "no way," I'm trying that on again. Thank God I did. The wrinkles are still there. So, next they started pinning some more areas to take in to get rid of the wrinkles. Then one of the girls remarked that they wouldn't be able to get it to go completely flat. That's when I lost it. A garment should not have puckers when it is altered to fit my own body!!!! My alterations charge is $500 and it must fit perfectly!!! Is this an unreasonable request? Now they're going to "fix" it. My next appointment is November 5. My wedding is November 15. I'm freaking out. Talk me off of a ledge here....

OP, I am so sorry that this happened.  $500 is a lot for alterations, what did you have done??

I know they said they will fix it, but I wuld consider getting a different seamstress and having them fix it...then see if the first place will give you any compensation.

I loved my gown, but the alterations were terrible.  The gown had puckers all the way down the back.  I'm having to have each of my photos edited to soften the look where you can see them, thankfully it isn't all of them.  I had a custom Lazaro gown, at a high price, so the salon included alterations.  I'd rather have paid and gone elsewhere in hindsight.  Moral of the story: give them one chance to fix it.  If they don't, they're either incapable or they don't care.  Go somewhere else that can get it exactly right.  If you don't, it will burn when you see the pics.

Go some where else.  They tried to fix it twice and it still isn't right so I wouldn't let them touch your dress anymore.

Yeesh, I do not think you are overreacting at all. $500 for alterations?!?!? I guess that probably varies by market but it seems expensive to me. With the final fitting so close to your wedding, I would get a back-up plan. Find out what other seamstresses are really good in your area and see if they can fit in a rush order. Either call the salon and tell them you will be taking it somewhere else immediately or wait (at your own risk) until the final fitting to see if it is fixed.

I am sorry you are experiencing this - I had the same exact thing happen with my gown.  I ordered it slightly big so it could be altered to fit exactly and after alterations it had puckers across the stomach and hips.  Does your gown have any boning in the front?  Mine had a few pieces and the seamstress removed two of them.  It didn't change the shape but somehow removed most of the puckers.  Also, your gown will stretch within the first hour of wearing it; I freaked out that it was too tight, but it "gave" pretty quickly and stayed up the entire night, and the rest of the puckers disappeared.  Good luck.
