Double Digits!!!

Re: Double Digits!!!

  • Okay, slight freak out:

I got all excited today... I got my invites from Etsy sent to the printer, got my RSVP postcard stamps ordered and my ridiculous "I totally don't need these but I'm buying them anyways" envelopes all ordered. I sent my invites to the printer and I got back heart breaking news :(

They're too dark and the printer is very worried that they're unreadable. I had FI go and check them out since I'm away at work and he agrees. I have to start over with the graphic designer from Etsy. Wah. I really liked those invites too. Damnit.

I did get FI to agree to a time to go look at suits and I nailed down the rehearsal dinner as well. So those are pluses. Just gotta get these stupid invites nailed down.

I'm sorry!  That's super frustrating!!  At least you realized it before they were actually printed, though?

Yeah, they were just samples. Oh well. Onward and upward. To the bar.

I'm gonna AW my invitations to you guys, because they were such a total pain in the ass and I'm so proud of myself for getting that over with!

ETA: Is anyone else having a terrible time trying to attach photos?! WTF!

  • OP and I are date twins.

I had all my invites ordered, and I had received everything and started addressing the envelopes (more than half way done now I think) when I realized that I had the wrong address on the invitations. I only realized this from looking at another couple's wedding website who is also getting married in the same chapel. Apparently, the entire internet, including the website FOR THE CHAPEL ITSELF gives you the wrong address. Maybe it is the mailing address, I don't know, but I do know (now) that the physical address is something different.

So, anyway, I flipped out for several minutes, corrected the mistake, re-ordered the invitations.

Then, when the invitations came in, I realized I had re-ordered in the mother loving wrong size. Seriously, I ordered 5x7 instead of 6x9.  The problem being that the envelopes, most of which I have addressed, are for 6x9.  The only shining light is that we are spending less than a dollar per invite and Vistaprint is so nice they actually refunded me for the ones I ordered in the wrong size. So, I guess I'll be ordering my invitations for the third time now.

If it works, one is an AW of the invitations and the other is my wedding band. I'm sorry Mae, I just remembered you asked the other day to see a photo of it and I totally forgot to post one, so here it is!

ugh that would be so frustrating! That's awesome that you got a refund, though. I hate when you're trying to get something done and out of the way, and then stupid little crap goes wrong! Boo!

Totally. I was so on top of it. It is certainly better than the alternative, ie, sending everyone to the wrong address on the day of the wedding. I don't know how I managed to order the wrong size since I generally triple check stuff like that, but oh well.

Btw, ring and invites are awesome looking!

  • Thanks Novella!

I like the simplicity of your ring. That's why I am leaning toward no diamonds on the band. Plus, it's not something we want to put a ton more money into.

Your invites look great! I dig that envelope.

    Thanks!

The simple band kind of had a dual purpose for us. 1) is that traditionally Jewish wedding bands were supposed to be "unbroken" gold with no stones. 2) we didn't really have the budget for anything fancier.

Now he can get me a more bling-y band for our 5-year anniversary or something if he ever wants to, and if I ever decide I want one, but my Ering is so fancy and so pretty on its own that I didn't care much about having a fancy wedding band.

I have never heard this before. That is beautiful!

Yeah I really love the message behind it!
Here's what it's supposed to mean:

    Giving of the Ring

The ring is made of plain gold, without blemishes or ornamentation (e.g. stones) to symbolize an unbroken union, and a marriage of simple beauty. The ring is traditionally worn on the right index finger because of the belief that a vein in this finger leads directly the the heart.

  • We didn't do anything fancy with our invitations, just ordered stock and printed them at home (with no inserts), but they are sitting at home and I'm so friggin' antsy to drop them in the mail!  ugh!!!  It's so close, yet feels so far...

@novella1186, I love hearing about your wedding band and its symbolism!  So neat and beautiful sentiments behind them.

If the photo works (somewhat doubtful), here's a picture of my invitation!  I redacted names and locations in hot pink, but the rest is there.  In person, the color is more of a peal, though.  The gold band at the bottom is the belly band to go around the invites.  Now I just need to get stamps and start numbering the RSVP cards!

This weekend I'm getting the shoes to wear with my dress!  Crossing one more thing off the list!

Thanks!!  I wanted to keep it more classic and streamlined - mostly because I don't know how to make different colors and patterns work together haha.  If I were creative like you, I definitely would have done something fun and colorful like you have :)

I have the opposite problem. I want ALL THE COLORS AND PATTERNS! And I have to struggle to narrow it down so it doesn't become a big mess. I love the simple, elegant look. I'm just not capable of it lol

Y'all I have made no effort on the invitation front. I mean I looked at a lot, but after reading this thread, I went and looked at the calendar to figure out what date I should send them. Probably should've ordered them already. Whoopsy.
    What's your date?

I am finishing the design process THIS weekend. Must order by Monday. I SUCK.
    mygatsby.com AMAZiNG ONES!

Before a friend of mine suggested making them {she has a small business} I was looking here. She still took the idea I was looking at and put it into new idea.

BUT GUYS THEY DELIVER IN LESS THAN A WEEK

    Proud Bride Moment:

    I am on the ball like you wouldn't believe! I'm still 6 months away {okay so 176 days}

Invites are being started; cake done; head table decor done; centerpieces decided on but still need to buy BUT DECIDED ON {bane of my existence}; found some faux flowers that I love {because I'm picky as fuck and real flowers die to quick}; deposit to photographer this month; deposit to dj next month; end of April/early May we are getting the wedding favours together and the license.

Guys .... I got this *throws on sunglasses*

FI on other hand is being a pest because he hates the little details I do. Centerpieces lately. seriously, took me 3 trips and almost a month to figure this shit out! You know what we're doing? 3 mix sized flameless candles, on top of a black picture frame {table prizes!} and some glitter tape on candles to make them a little nicer.
    JESUS FUCK

Edit: OH! and since one of my bridesmaids is a hairstylist and i desperately need a hair cut, we may do some ideas next month when I see her
  • I'm feeling pretty good about where we are right now. Our invitations are here and I've mostly put them together! Tomorrow I'm having my (hopefully last) dress fitting (with my Spanx for the first time, I'm pumped to see how the dress looks with them lol) and figuring out whether or not I can wear my pearl necklace with the dress.

Hopefully I can decide on a veil too! There's one I like, but I want it in ivory and that design is discontinued

FI has been working on brewing beer for our escort cards so that's been fun.
  • I don't know what happened yesterday but the light of good fortune was shining on FI and I yesterday. We manged to do the following
    • Buy FI shoes
    • Drop off FIs pants to be altered
    • Bought 5 ties for all the men in the wedding at 2 different macys in 2 different towns on clearance and the associate gave me extra $$ off too!
    • Made a more detailed timeline with the photographer
    • picked a backdrop for the photobooth (silver and kinda sparkly)
    • got another copy of the engagement pictures on CD
    • picked out the type of guestbook, now I have to decide on pictures
    • made another payment to the photographer.

What a great day that was! I also bought a dress for my shower and some spanks for under my wedding dress. Now if I could just call about a cake and meet with the caterer again, I'd be doing excellent.

  • I got FI's wedding gift (a watch) out of layaway yesterday.  I had a coupon for a free pearl bracelet, so I also gave the salesperson that, and I didn't notice the coupon on the bottom for $50 off - even though I bought that watch back in October and have been making layaway payments on it, he took the $50 off so my last payment was only $28 instead of $83!  I was pumped.  :)

Invitations are going out this week - finally!!!

Yay! I'm so jealous! I procrastinated really bad this weekend so the only wedding stuff I got done was addressing an envelope to someone that I had forgotten to address an envelope for before. And then I said to FI, "We have a lot of wedding shit to do." And then I played on TK and took a nap.

Hahaha well I have a shower next weekend and FI's bachelor party is the weekend after that, so I demanded that we get some things done this past weekend before I had an anxiety attack
  • Oh novella - I was talking to my mom about the breaking glass thing, and she said a lot of people just use lightbulbs.  They're easy to break and make a good breaking noise.  And apparently it doesn't have to be a drinking glass - that part just got lost over the years.  It just has to be glass.
  • I had a minifreak out last night over my dress. Thanks to a certain thread on here by a certain you know who asking if anybody wore their dress frequently before the wedding or after ;)

I feel like I'm going to be ugly in the dress I chose. And I hate that I feel that way. I think it's too clingy in my midsection, which is my biggest problem area. /cry

Good to know! Cuz that breaking glass on amazon was like $30.... a burnt out lightbulb would be free :P

Please don't freak out.  You're going to be GORGEOUS in your dress!!  You'll be the most beautiful woman your FI has never seen.  I promise
