Re: Walking dead!!! ***Spoilers for the show up to the newest episode!!!***

  • H says it was in a pen and that's why it couldn't get away. It ran in and the zombies went for it and it didn't have an exit available.

Now I want to rewatch the scene (but don't really want to watch that again...)

I remember there being a fence behind the horse, but I don't remember seeing any fence on the side of the horse. And even then, I feel like he would have gotten away. He could've just plowed right through that group of zombies and they would have fallen apart.

My stables had this horse named Elvis who would get bored and leave. Like, he would jump the fence. Usually he broke it when he jumped it. Once, he didn't feel like jumping it so he busted right through it. Once, he was in cross ties being groomed and he tore the cross ties out of the wall, jumped over the stable manager, and left. So... when horses want to get away they can and they will.

  • Totally agree. When H said that I immediately followed with jump the fence or plow through the zombied while they topple.

Then again, TWD isn't known to always have things make total sense. So why I always nit pick I don't know. :P

It's probably all an allegory for how you should trust your natural instincts and not trust the people who try to tame you.

  • I think I remember Aaron saying something "he always ran." Maybe meaning that the horse always ran from zombies before, so the fact that he didn't run this time and let them attack him meant to me that maybe the horse just gave up. He'd had enough of running from those weird creatures who probably smell terrible and missed the days before zombies. Perhaps I'm thinking about it too much?
  • Fuck Gabriel. I've been waiting for him to die since he showed up. I'm glad at least Maggie overheard though. I think Deanna is smart enough to take it with a grain of salt.

When they got in the van and the dubstep came on with the screaming "YOU'RE ALL GOING TO DIE TODAY" I was like oh no, here we go. They wouldn't really do that, would they?

I like how Carol started out all gruff with the kid but then when she realized what was going on, she really softened.

  • Wow Gabriel way to be a total dickhead.

    I already miss Noah

  • That was hard to watch. Noah's death was just too much for me, I felt ill. It was a good shock/twist but that was just...yeah. I'm a wimp when it comes to gore.

    Fuck you Gabriel.

  • I couldn't decide if Gabriel was legit being a dick of if he's just going crazy and BELIEVES that, you know?
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

I think he honestly believes it, and thinks he's doing the right thing. I mean think about it. He was holed up in his church all along, all clean and well-groomed in his super nice clean suit. He wasn't exposed to what life is like out there, and never had to fight or kill.

Then this group comes along and hacks people to death in his church right in front of him.

And now Carol is stealing guns and threatening children, and insisting that Rick murder someone in order to solve a problem, Rick is fantasizing killing someone's husband cuz he has a boner for the wife [Ok I'm just guessing that he's fantasizing killing that dude based on how he clutched his gun at the end of the previous episode), Carl is sneaking out and fucking around, etc.

To a quiet little Stepford Wife community like Alexandria, our group really are the bad guys. Kind of.

Don't get me wrong, I think Gabriel is a little bitch for what he did. But I can understand the little bitch's perspective I guess?

  • Oh man - Noah.  That was truly rough.
    image

  • Ugh Noah. I couldn't watch. That was SO gory and SO up close and personal. Poor Glenn for having to watch that!

@FiancB I thought the same thing. I screamed at the TV "WHAT IS IT WITH YOU PEOPLE AND GETTING YOURSELVES LOCKED IN METAL BOXES?!" I thought they were goners for sure.

  • I am happy that Eugene finally stepped up and grew a pair.

Poor Noah, that was just not fun to watch.  But I figured it was time that someone was killed off.

Gabriel has flown over the cuckoos nest.  I am sure he believes everything he is saying.  Bbut WTF was up with him freaking out over the strawberries left by Rosemary?  I wonder if it had something to do with that zombie in the flooded building that he was all about letting kill him.

And no Carol, killing that dude is not the only option.

  • I don't remember the name of the first dude who died in this episode... But why didn't they shoot him?! Why'd they leave him for the walkers??? And WHY DID WE HAVE TO WATCH IT FOR SO LONG??? I didn't need to see several seconds (felt like minutes) of blood and this dude being eaten alive.

AND THEN AGAIN WITH NOAH?!?!? It was too much..

I had all but given up hope on this season and then BAM.

Because he was the King of the Douches. He would have left all of them to die. And as we're learning, they've lost all sense of human emotions like compassion.

It was too much with Noah. They've been pretty good about killing off the main characters with the quickness - Beth, Herschel, Lori. That was gruesome.

This might be a dumb thing to be worried about, but it bugs me that as soon as people start getting eaten, they give up. Like Noah was not swinging punches or kicking or anything. Neither was Aiden. Or like... any character that gets eaten alive. It must hurt really fucking bad to get eaten alive. I'd be fighting like crazy until I was totally dead.

Just a random pet peeve. Cuz that Noah death scene was so brutal, and I was yelling, "FIGHT! FIGHT THEM, NOAH!" I mean clearly he would die whether or fought or not, but it seemed like he just kind of sat there.

  • We watched Talking Dead after the episode, and apparently strawberries are some sort of symbol for purity in Christianity and Christian art.

I get that... but they did try to remove him off that thing, and only after they were unsuccessful did they leave him. So I was just like uhh??

Way too much with Noah... ugh.

Well when Noah came running up to grab Glen and he said "they are coming," the walkers were literally right there as soon as Glen and Noah ran off so there wasn't much they could do for the guy at that point.  They were too busy keeping the walkers off their own asses.

    Valid point.

I think it was just disturbing how long of a scene they made it... We get it, he was getting eaten, probably didn't need the extended coverage. Bleh.

  • Both deaths were too drawn out for me. I've felt sick thinking about the episode all day. My coworkers and I were chatting about it and they found it very gory too.

I think it was really just how long each went on for. Sigh. I really liked Noah.

Yeah I work in clinical research so I've seen plenty of gruesome photos and live surgeries. Blood does not bother me anymore.

But the Noah death scene was literally gut-wrenching. Like, my stomach tightened up at how gruesome it was.

I couldn't believe Glen didn't just leave that guy lying in the parking lot.

What both H and I were wondering is how in the world are these zombies so strong that they can easily rip the cheek right off of Noah?  Or rip someone's stomach open.  I mean I guess when you have no conscious/soul you don't restrict yourself when biting into someone or ripping at someone but I just feel like a persons skin is not that easily removed.

FI and I said the exact same thing!!!! Strength obviously comes from muscle and their muscles are completely deteriorated (and probably tendons and ligaments too, for that matter) so how were they strong enough to do that?

We were also wondering how the hell they were strong enough to pull Noah entirely out of the glass door area. Noah was holding on, and Glen was holding onto him, and yet the zombies had the strength to overpower both of them and pull this guy out? No.

I know this show isn't big on facts and logic, but this one annoyed us.

    Ooh that is true!

But yeah, this is why I try not to think too much about this or put too much logic into this show (or really any fictional tv show), because in the end it is a show about zombies.  As long as it entertains me then I am good.

SO our muscles have more strength than our bodies allow us to use. We feel pain when we push too hard to avoid tearing or overusing muscles. If a zombie can't feel this pain or have this mental roadblock, they become much stronger.

Although, the fact that a dead body can use muscles makes no fucking sense, anyway. I suppose their finger bones might be exposed and so they have sharper things to tear people apart with.

Anyway, the mental block stopping you from using your full strength is an example of adrenaline. It allows more oxygen to get into your muscles via blood making your body able to use more of your strength capacity. It is also why certain drugs make people crazy strong and energized, both by dilating your blood vessels and by limiting your pain felt. I believe that's also where the term (and I hate to use this) "retard strength" comes from.

  • I liked that we had more action this episode, but the Noah scene was gut wrenching! I might need to rewatch, but at the time I almost felt like Noah gave up a bit to try to let Glenn escape.

I think they went from trying to save Aiden to going fuck him and let him get eaten since he admitted that they freaked and left behind the others on the supply run who they lost (vs his original story).

Deanna seemed skeptical of Gabriel (or at least I hope so). It could get interesting depending on who Maggie tells about what she heard.
