I'm a total nail fanatic and just discovered this thread :-)
I am looking for a good colour to show off an amethyst and yellow gold ring. Online suggestions appear to be Essie's "nice is nice" and "apple mint candy".
I would something that will contrast, as opposed to match.
Late to this thread because the last three weeks or so have been super busy and stressful. Right now my nails are super short and super bare (as they have been for the last three or four weeks). This is the longest my nails have been bare (or this short) in several years. I had a Monday night ritual of doing my nails, but life has been too hectic for that, then I started biting my nails again from stress, and now I don't know what to do because I really hate the look of dark or bright polish on short nails.
I have some Essie and OPI, but I've been pretty loyal to Zoya for the last couple of years and probably have 100+ of their polishes. For the past few months I had been rotating between the Zoya Pixie Dusts and their latest Spring matte collection. I love the Pixie Dusts (though the basic ones, not the ultra ones with all the different sizes and shapes of glitter) because they don't require a base or top coat and dry very quickly, which is what I've needed. But it would be nice to sport just a regular polish for a change.
So. I thought that the "Because I love nail polish" thread that's been hovering near the top of the page today was this thread.
I have been going back through trying to figure out why the fuck Lacquered changed the title, and I was COMPLETELY at a loss, so I was beginning to wonder if it had ALWAYS been "Because I love..." as opposed to this one's title, and I was just crazy.
Question: How do you get nice cute symmetrical dots? Is that a thing you can do at home? I always end up with lopsided stupid dots no matter what I do.

Hahahaha, with press-on nails!
I have tried to do them myself, and they almost always look dumb. The best dots I have ever done, though, I took a q tip and ripped all the cotton stuff off and then used the stick part for dot-making. It worked pretty well.

YOU CAN MAKE DOTS AND DO PRESS ON NAILS THAT DON'T GO WONKY.

Doing dots is super easy, I'm not sure if it's against TOS but I could link you to my tutorial about it. You can use anything from dotting tools to the edge of a bobby pin to a pin to a pencil.

Message it to me! I'm pretty sue it's not a TOS (it took me seven tries to get my iPhone to let me type that) if I ask you to message it to me.
I've tried pins and pencils, but never bobby pins.
@lacqueredlover I totally want that tutorial! I want to practice Minnie Mouse themed nails that I can wear on my Disney honeymoon. I was hoping for white polka dots on a pink or red background.
I know they sell nail art pens for that.. are they worth buying?

Those are usually pretty crappy. I know a nail polish maker that makes polishes with mickey shaped glitter if you want!
These are my nails now. My regular lady got super creative. I was originally just going to do grey with a mint accent, but then she was all "how about this? What about that?!" And I was like "sure whatever!"
@lacqueredlover yes please, that sounds good! I did try OPI's Minnie Mouse's "nothin mousy bout it" and was dissappointed at how hard it was getting the glitter hearts out of the bottle :-(
