Confused and Disappointed

Now I am confused and dissapointed...

OP, you started this thread saying you didn't understand the expectations put out by brides and why did you have to do X,Y,Z... Everyone here posts helpful advice about how you don't have to do any of it, except host your guests properly. Then you come back and say the posters are all harsh and mean? 

Your two posts do not match up at all. No poster on TK has EVER said you have to have favours. No poster on TK has EVER said you need to spend a lot of money. No poster on TK has ever said you need to have a shower/lingerie/ bacchelorette party. I'm not sure where ANY of that is coming from. Ok, maybe *one* random poster has said something to the above effect, but they are corrected if giving advice against etiquette.

Is this a joke?

I'm not sure she'd do any better there, because I am genuinely concerned about her reading comprehension. (Seems to be a theme lately, right @ohannabelle?)

Apparently she read some threads which made her feel like she had to do X, Y and Z, when I'm pretty certain no one in those threads (if they were here) actually said that. Then she had no comprehension that this thread was helpful and was in fact telling her that she didn't need to do those things. If she can't understand what's written in front of her, I'm not sure she'd find WW a better tone for her.

I, for the life of me, cannot figure out why people think that children cannot be in the presence of people who are drinking alcohol - either because it will kill the buzz of the people drinking because they'll "feel inhibited" or the children will be subjected to "undue influence".  I mean, really?  I don't know what kind of people you hang out with, but I can personally vouch for my family and friends that we don't suddenly start raping and pillaging and having a group orgy in front of everyone when we start drinking.  And the kids are busy hanging out with their same age friends and cousins and dancing or playing on their phones and completely oblivious to whether there is bourbon poured into the Diet Coke I'm drinking.  Everyone, adults and children alike, socialize, laugh, and dance.  It's not that hard to act like socially appropriate human beings, even when you've been drinking.
