Re: Whateva Wednesday

  • @AuroraRose41 - What are the dates for Albany? I hope I can make it work!

    Daily random success - seating plan set up!! YASSSS!!!!
    *dances*

    Saturday we're going to talk to our location about cocktail hour and food stuff, and how the ceremony is gonna be set up

    I'll try to snap a few shots and show you guys :)
    Jealous! For some reason I thought July 15 was a good RSVP deadline for an August 1 wedding. I wish I made the deadline earlier and left more time to plan the seating chart and prepare escort cards. Now after the July 15 deadline passes and allowing an extra couple buffer-days for RSVP stragglers, I'll be cutting it close!
    I had july 15th as date but I chased down some "maybe" stragglers since I had so few I didn't know about. Also the location and our cupcake place wanted the numbers by then also {which I found out long after sending dates}

    I also did seating chart at work. I still gotta make it pretty and this is probably my 5th copy ahahaha perfectionist issues :')

    How many people do you have left to account for?
  • @Swazzle UGH that is so not fair! You're doing everything you're supposed to! :( How much longer are you on the meds?

  • @swazzle the wedding is on September 19. Right now we are flying in on the 16th and leaving on the 20th, but our university's career fair is the week after so we might come in on the 18th and fly out the next week instead. I will keep in touch if those dates do change because I hope you could make it work! :)

  • @TwoDimes @Swazzle I thought I'd mentioned it before about the reasoning. There were many people that didn't get their invites, {family that didn't live near us} and many that said "maybe". Once we knew they didn't get their invites, we advised them we needed to know {especially out of town guests, so we could help make arrangements if needed} "Chase down" is terrible wording, it was more clarifying who was coming.
    {we included the "maybe" folks into our other arrangements, so it wasn't a huge issue when we knew tbh}
  • @MissKittyDanger - I still don't understand why that couldn't wait until the RSVP deadline? I'm assuming when you discovered they didn't receive their invitations, you told them you need to know by July 15th. And even if you didn't tell them that, that's the deadline you set for a reason, so hounding them a week early is really just because you got impatient and that's rude.

  • @cu97tiger I can't say this for certain but we will probably be very near your siesta key trip for nye! My parents live there and we tend to be there for the holidays lol. Please keep me posted :)

    Today has been a busy day of random randoms. We got a new credit card to replace one that was expiring so I was changing a lot of our autopay accts today. Turns out sunpass (like ezpass for Florida) charged me for a 5 axle vehicle (last I checked civics do not have 5 axles...) so I called and apparently our old transponder is still working in a car we traded in. Oops but they're fixing it for me. Woot woot.

    I'm attempting to do my homework for this class I'm taking this summer. I'm not being a good reader but I did enjoy unREAL and the fosters. And becoming us. Lol I may never get this done

    @buddysmom80 happpppy birthday!!

    I definitely will! (Or at least, I will AW my plans sometime in December and you can remind me if you're going to be there ;)  )

    Still here and still fabulous!

  • @swazzle - I'm not sure. It was my in-laws who spoke with them. I did mention the 15th as a deadline, but they said they'd let us know by "early July" {mainly because 2 elderly ones were coming from states to canada a few weeks prior for a diff wedding}
    When my in-laws spoke with them again, it was a more like reminding, since they knew the deadline was coming. I actually had zero contact with them personally. {it sounds like an impersonal situation, but unfortunately that's how it went}

    Honestly, in the end it was just 2 people that we had to remind about and we already included them into all the calculations so it wasn't end of the world if they were late.
  • @cu97tiger I still think it's weird that normal people vacation where I live ... Which is even been now cause I'm like an hr from Disney (which obviously is a big vacation place)

    @mskittydanger yep the RSVP deadline is ya know the last day they're supposed to drop it in the mail. You shouldn't even be bugging your GUESTS until several days after that.

  • @AuroraRose41 Oh my gosh, I can't believe we're almost at the 1-year mark for your countdown! I know it sounds silly, but I remember being SOOO excited to hit 1 year. For the next few weeks I would think to myself, "This is my last (fill in date here) as an unmarried woman!" Your year will fly by!

  • @eilis1228 I know! I can't believe I got that excited over seeing that we are hitting the year mark in a week. I feel like I have so much to do still! Hopefully it does fly by!

  • @AuroraRose41 It will definitely fly by! It doesn't seem possible that FI and I are just under 4 months out. It feels like we got engaged yesterday. Once the year mark hit, time hit a fast forward button and started to zoom by.

  • Time really does fly. I was RIDICULOUSLY excited when we hit the 1 year out mark, 6months, 3 months... Now I've been married for almost a month and I don't know where the hell the time went. It's crazy.

  • @untouchablets - Maybe I missed this before but where do you and your BF live now?  I would be really annoyed at someone brushing me off like that, sorry.  The fact that he thinks its funny to do so is also pretty immature and I'd be having a serious conversation about the fact that his communication skills aren't working for you.  Just my two cents.

    @TwoDimes You can't take my brewery trip away from me though! Don't you want your wedding gift????

  • @minskat30 I agree, it is SO annoying. We live in Long Island. I have a roommate and he lives with his parents. It's too expensive to move in together right now since most places cost more than I make in a month.

    Anyway my current method is to bring it up until he takes it seriously. He has said out loud that he does want to move in together as soon as he gets a job in his field, and when I suggested myself supporting us if ever possible (not looking good so far though) he was open to that. For the most part we ARE on the same page, but it takes me forever to get him to spit it out already. Literally last night I was like "can you stop being so contradictory?!?" He didn't even realize he was doing it. He was just trying to be funny.

    And I like to be prepared for things, I've worked very hard to optimize my credit score and I have multiple savings accounts that I contribute to weekly, and I have investments that I'm hoping will grow enough so that I can have a down payment on a house soon. I'm only 24, I learned all this stuff on my own after growing up poor and my parents are terrible with money. He's from a wealthy family and though he's good with money and has decent credit he hasn't had to prioritize money the way that I have. So yeah I realize he might think it's "soon" to be thinking about getting a savings account together or whatever, but he doesn't look at money the way that I do.

    Sorry about that vent, I don't really have anyone to talk to about this lol
  • @untouchablets - H and I had completely opposite views about money.  I grew up in the middle-class, but my dad really taught the importance of saving money and prioritizing it and also being generous with it.  He grew up very poor.  My H grew up DIRT POOR.  He lived in between his mom's house and his grandparent's house.  Bath time when he was little took place in the old-fashioned tub that his grandmother handwashed clothes in.  He picked onions and jalapenos in the field with his grandparents.  And nobody saved anything because there wasn't enough to go around anyways.  So he just spent, spent, spent and got lots of loans and made a bunch of bad decisions.  It took a while (and some Dave Ramsey classes) but now he is great with money and is trying to his family about it... especially his brother who is starting college in the fall.

    Do you all plan on going to pre-marital counseling when you get engaged?  That would be a good time to talk about it in a professional setting.  Ideally, you could start talking about it now but...  How old is your BF?
  • @CocoBellaF He's my age. And we haven't discussed doing pre-marital counseling yet, though I know he'd be open to it, we just aren't there yet. I want to cover one thing at a time lol I feel like I'm overwhelming him. He doesn't "plan" things he just kinda goes with the flow but my type A personality rejects that idea. So here I am like "let's start saving!" and stuff like that and it hasn't even hit his radar yet.
