He just keeps showing more examples of how "moral" he really is... so sad. I feel really bad for his wife, who just gave birth to his 4th kid a few weeks ago.
I really feel for his wife and children, too. Awful.
I really can't but think also that there might be more than this. Not saying every man who commits adultery is a sexual deviant, but when you couple this with the sexual abuse scandal, who knows what this guy has been into. I'd just have a really hard time believing that "he's fine" and he would never abuse anyone again. Obviously this guy's demons aren't entirely behind him.
I also really hope that his wife will be bold and do what she needs to do to protect herself and her children. I would worry in that kind of family that she'll think she's supposed to just forgive, forget, and stand by him no matter what.
I feel awful for her too, especially since she probably has nowhere to go and no way to support herself and 4 children. My guess is she had the same "education" the Duggar girls had, which is not much of anything real, and she's never really had a job before.
She has been taught to obey her husband and forgive any 'indiscretions". After the hacking of AM was announced I wouldn't be surprised he gave her a heads up. Or she will at least claim he did. His statement came out pretty quickly, so it might have been pre-planned.
What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests. Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
I hate this! I have so many problems with the things this family believes and teaches their children... and I'm a Christian! It is embarrassing. I am really hoping his wife will not ignore these huge red flags (and in my opinion marriage-ending actions). How could you ever learn to trust someone after all this?
Anna was brought up that she was her father's property until he okay'd a 'suitable' husband. Then she would become his property. She barely has an education other then that bible. She was brought to think her sole propose in life is to be a wife and baby making machine.
BTW Anna's daddy has a bad track record for picking out husband's for his daughters. Her only real hope is her 2 siblings (one brother and one sister) who have left the "cult". The sister has an out-of-wedlock child ::gasp::. Maybe one of them can be a voice of reason for her.

I feel really bad for Anna. And I really hate the concept of "we are praying for forgiveness" while the family actively tells those who do the same things how terrible they are. Let he who is without sin...
I don't see Josh changing. I only see him getting better at hiding his tracks sadly.
Or getting more aggressive and bold Because he keeps getting away with it as the only consequence Or punishment is more prayer. I fear the predator will only grow bolder now.
I read somewhere that said Anna would likely not leave Josh after the release of the records. I know she has to feel trapped.
I'm not defending Josh by any means, however, I can't "hate" the family or their beliefs over this. I'm in the camp that I can respect that you have different beliefs than me and I can think said beliefs are absolutely wrong and outrageous. As long as your religion and beliefs aren't hurting other people, then I'll leave it alone.
Josh's religious beliefs did not make him molest children. They did not make him cheat on his wife of 4 children. Could they have been so restrictive that he felt pushed in that direction? sure. But saying that his actions are the cause of their closely held religious beliefs is like saying people commit terrorist attacks because they are Muslim.
Sadly, maybe if he were able to explore sexually as a teenager he wouldn't have molested children and then cheated on his wife. I just worry that there are other issues of there that Josh is facing or even that some of the other Duggar children will face.
I don't think that their religious beliefs necessarily hurt people, but I DO think their failure to handle things properly DOES. I agree that their religious beliefs don't make people into pedophiles or adulterers. He probably has some real psychological issues. But the point is, his family's beliefs kept them from handling it properly, through licensed mental professionals. And their beliefs kept them from reporting the abuse to the authorities, so that those little girls could be protected. So in that way, their beliefs are dangerous.
It's not that all christian beliefs are dangerous... it's that theirs are.
It's not that all muslim beliefs are dangerous... it's that the very particular beliefs of extremist muslim terrorists are (which does NOT characterize mainline Islam, but a particular interpretation of Islam)
I definitely agree that they do not handle things properly at all. Josh should have been turned in when he was a teenager who molested children including his siblings. He should've received counseling by a professional. He should have been charged and gotten in trouble from the police.
I don't see Josh changing. I only see him getting better at hiding his tracks sadly.

@emmaaa, but he and his family use said beliefs to deliberately hurt other people, and IMO that is the same thing.
They stand on their beliefs like a pedestal and use their influence as "celebrities" to spread hate, and lies about the LGBTQ community. And that directly and indirectly (through the people they embolden) hurts people.

I don't doubt you at all because I don't pay attention to the Duggars in the media or any public events they may do. I am just curious what lies they spread about the LGBTQ community, if you don't mind me asking. I have seen their show maybe 2 times (?) but I ignore them generally because I don't agree with many of their beliefs.

I didn't watch the show for the same reason, but I'm an ADHD news junkie so I read everything I see LOL.
First and foremost, related to Josh directly, he was the President of the Family Research Council (while on AM might I add). The FRC is a lobbying firm that lobbies against LGBT friendly legislation. They are so bad, the Southern Poverty Law Center has them listed as a Hate Group. One of their more successful fundraising campaigns suggested that President Obama was recruiting children into the "gay lifestyle."
Michelle campaigned locally to ban LGBTQ friendly legislation in their state and is accredited with the overturn of her cities anti discrimination act when she released a robo call stating that the law means men with records of child molestation could enter women's restrooms and harm their children.
Okay so apparently Anna doesn't actually say this but the headline said she did so I immediately posted it. Still, I won't be surprised if she announces this later on. I still feel bad for her.

They are taught that men's sins are their fault. So I wouldn't be surprised if she actually thinks that way.

I also wouldn't be surprised. So sad. I don't blame these women for staying because what other choice do they have? No support, no education, no where to go.
The Duggars made everything about their faith. Wives subservient to their first fathers and then husbands due to their faith. Can't have sex until after 80 days after giving birth to a girl. 40 days for a boy. What I guess girls are dirtier? That is why the longer delay? No hold hands. Hell you have to have an accountability partner at all times. What to run to the store for some milk? Got to bring an accountability partner.
It's no fucking wonder once Josh got the chance to do something naughty he did. Certainly not a surprised he kept a secret. He was brought up things are in black and white. If you really think he had some free will to go out and have a "normal" life I think you are kidding yourself. Josh is a victim of his upbringing as much as Anna is a victim of her upbringing.
Granted it doesn't excuse his behavior with his sisters. I do kind of feel a little sorry for him. Maybe had Michelle and Jim-Bob got him real therapy he might have cheated on his wife. Or if they had given him a little more freedom he could have lived a little more of a normal life. Been able to go to a real school, date, etc.
Maybe if he had the chance he could have really met the right girl. Not the courtship he had to do with Anna. I mean can you really get to know someone when there is an accountability partner with you at all times? I'm not even talking sexually. Can you really be honest if there is someone just waiting to run back to mommy and daddy telling them everything? The only way Josh could speak to a girl is with someone watching. The only way to even KISS a girl was to marry her. Hell, the only way he could even hold hands with a girl was to be engaged.
Once married, divorce is not an option in their world. Anna's sole purpose is to be a baby machine. I'm sure there was a lot of pressure to keep popping out kids (they have 4 under 6). So Ashley Madison it was. Finally he can have sex for fun, not to be a baby making machine.
I bet in some way he is relieved it's all out. Living a double live can't be easy.

I saw this on a comment on an article - but I don't think the duggars believe in protection. No idea if the people he cheated with did or not, but Anna could be exposed to a ton of STIs now as well. A scary consequence of cheating that the other partner doesn't deserve.

And if he did, that still doesn't mean that she's not at risk.
But with the quiverful mentality, she's up a creek on this.
So, you can molest little kids, and god will forgive you.
You can molest your own SISTERS and victimize them, and god will forgive you.
You can seek out affairs, and god will forgive you.
You can be unfaithful to your wife on an ongoing basis, and only apologize/admit to it BECAUSE you've already been publicly outed, and god will forgive you.
But you can't be gay. Don't be gay. God won't forgive that.

Exactly. If you turn to your faith it's fine.
And I say this as a Catholic! I'm tired of the Duggars using their faith as the be all and end all with their actions. They have free will, Josh clearly exercised it and they're doing a piss poor job of reforming.
I also don't like their lobbying in general. Let's use the US system of government when it's convenient for them. Lobby against gay rights? Have at it! Report CRIMES?! Oh no.
The 2 siblings of Anna's who left the "cult" are asking her to leave Josh and willing to help her get out. Sadly their parents are wanting her to stay and forgive.

Don't Forget you can't get a divorce. That is way worse than all of the above.
