As for the tips, you need to tip the servers and bartenders but if they are including gratuity then I think you would be fine unless you feel like you need to tip more. If the photographer/videographer/DJ own their own business then you do not need to tip them since they are receiving all of the payment themselves. A nice thank you note is always appreciated though.

When we got our hair/makeup done, I tipped at the salon when I paid my balance for their service. Make sure to tip your driver if you're having transportation also and if there is anyone delivering your flowers/cake/whatever that isn't the owner of the business, they would need to be tipped.

@jenjen047 - We tipped almost everyone.  The people who owned their own business (the photographer, videographer and day-of coordinator) did such a good job we tipped them too.  We were really happy with how smooth everything went though.  The hair and make-up artist should get a tip similar to what you would tip in the salon even if they charge a travel fee for coming out.  I did 20% but I think 15% is fine too.

@jenjen047 I tipped my hair/makeup person like I normally would at a salon. The venue/bar included gratuity so I didn't tip on that and the rest of my vendors owned their own business so honestly I did not tip them.

@jenjen047 Yay single digits.  We tipped the hair, mua, both of photographers, both of our videographers, florist delivery, photo booth person, DJ and the venue coordinator who was there for the reception. We also tipped the limo driver and the guys driving the shuttles to & from the hotel/venue.Everyone was amazing so we wanted to thank them let them know they were appreciated.

@Swazzle I love my EC! Did you get horizontal or vertical? Also, I've heard the same thing about Room, but her other book Slammerkin is supposed to be amazing. Haven't read either of them though. I sympathize with powering through a book you just aren't that into-- currently doing that with The Mermaid Chair by Sue Monk Kidd.
@southernpeach89 DYING at your H getting the Callie explosion! I bet she felt a million times better after that.

@lavenderfields13 Amazon delivery drivers are TERRIBLE. I hate them so much. They do the same to us. Just leave the damn package at the door and go! I get that UPS and Fed Ex aren't always reliable with their Prime shipping speeds, but I would rather get a package late than have a driver harass me. We've had drivers call us at 8am on a Sunday before. No thanks.

I am dragging today. It's been a long week. Coming back after almost two weeks off during the holidays is rough. Plus I'm PMSing, which means lots of emotions, exhaustion, and very heavy cramping. I'm looking forward to my period completely disappearing over the next few months. This shit cray.

Last night H and I watched the series finale of Downton Abbey. I won't spoil it for anyone, but I will say that it was very nice, tidy way of ending the show. I'm sad that the show is over, but I guess it really hasn't been the same since season 3 anyway.

Today's plans:
- Do everything I can to find a second, third, fourth wind
- Clean the bathrooms that haven't been cleaned since the wedding *hangs head in shame*
- Cook dinner
- Find some time to work out, probably late-ish tonight after H is home
- Watch the new Sherlock episode

I wish it were Friday!

@jenjen047 If you feel confident with your day of coordinator then you could leave the tip envelope with them for the delivery people or maybe someone who would be available that you could trust with the money?

@eilis1228 I'm getting Mirena.  I've had migraines since I was 12, most of them are Aura.  Lately, they've been becoming more frequent which is why I said something to my doctor.  8 years on something that could have killed me is terrifying though. 

@lavenderfields13 My amazon orders always come through UPS.  I wonder if it has to do with your apartment complex or something?

@speakeasy14 The last couple of orders have had a weird tracking # so it's definitely a different service. I think it's usually UPS though. I'm not in a complex so I don't think that's it. Weird though - like it was a guy in a regular car and everything. I know they do Sunday deliveries in some areas now so maybe it's that kind of delivery service?

Does anyone use/Has anyone ever used Living Proof Perfect Hair Day products?

I just spent a ridiculous amount of money on new shampoo and conditioner, the 5-in-1 styling treatment, and instant texture mist (I got a dry shampoo and an overnight perfecter thrown in for free). It seems to have really good reviews so I figured I'd give it a whirl. I've been wanting new/better stuff for my hair for a while now.

@Swazzle - All this talk of mint ice cream is really making me want some! I have peppermint ice cream in my freezer but it's not as good. If you do finish Room let us know how you end up liking it. Sometimes I think about going back and finishing it but I don't think I even got halfway through, reading from the 5 year old's perspective was just too much for me.
@caseface5 - I love the frames,  they look great! I agree about keeping it in their handwriting, it makes it seem more personal.
@jenna8984 - Sciatic pain is awful! I hope it feels better soon!

Yesterday was my first day back teaching after the break. Normally, I'd have another two weeks of break but because I'm teaching the high school class I start early. It went really well. The class is small which is always easier in public speaking and they seem like a good group. The classroom is kind of awkwardly set up to do public speaking though. It's normally used for sports medicine and there's just a ton of crap everywhere and it feels pretty cramped but I guess I'll just have to figure out how to work around it.

Today I'm planning on straightening up the apartment, working on some lesson plans, and cooking dinner (but I have no idea what to make). FI and I are still trying to decide on a save-the-date. I'm going to make him sit down with me and decide tonight. FI's parents refuse to tell me who outside of family, they want invited to the wedding. I don't understand why this is difficult for them.

@swazzle I used it before.  It made my hair really fluffy, but I have a crazy oily scalp so ended up switching back to products with tea tree in them.

@swazzle - I'm no help there.  I don't even try to do my hair anymore of late due to our bathroom reno...and general laziness too of course.  I do love new hair products though...they always smell so good!

@minskat30 - I don't do my hair ever either. I shower at night usually because it saves me time in the morning and I already wake up way too early. But I shower, let it air dry, and that's it.

@swazzle If it doesn't work for you, I use the Paul Mitchell Tea Tree line.  I've been using it for a year and haven't had nearly as much oil issues. I got the giant bottles from Ulta.

So I'm sitting at my desk and trying not to cry.  One of the local animal shelters was contacted by the State Police last night for a hoarding situation.  They are in the process of rescuing 40 yorkies.  The poor things are matted, sick, covered in sores, scared, and hungry.  I just want to save them all.

@Swazzle I have the horizontal too. I got it in August and have really liked it-- hope you have similar success with yours! Re: Living Proof. I have no experience with that brand but have heard really good things about it. It's funny that you posted that-- I recently bought a bunch of trial sizes of Dry Bar hair care products, and I debated for a while between them and Living Proof. Haven't used them yet, but I'll report back. Let me know what you think of Living Proof!

Just wanted to say that due to all the crazyness of the day, both H and I forgot our cash/wallets when it came time to tip. We contacted everyone after the HM and requested they bill us separately for the tips, so all is not lost should you forget to tip the day of the wedding. 

@speakeasy14 Seriously terrifying! I hope the IUD helps tremendously with your migraines. Also, poor little yorkies I hope they're all rescued and find wonderful forever homes.

@swazzle - I tried the Perfect Hair Day stuff and HATED it. I figured - if Jennifer Aniston uses it, it's gotta be great, right? NOPE. I didn't even use half the bottles before I went back to Malin + Goetz. It was SO expensive too. I wish you'd asked before you purchased!

Nothing super exciting on my end. Trying to get some work done. I have to run out at lunch and get BIL & SIL birthday gifts, and try to exchange my LL Bean boots. They're backordered online, but I'm hoping going to the store will expedite the process.

@speakeasy14 - That is so awful and makes me so fucking mad. Today on my Timehop, pictures of "Rudy" -- a pittie H and I found chained to a fence (the chain was so short he couldn't lay down) -- popped up and I got so angry all over again. We rescued him and he lived in our basement for a couple days while we could find somewhere to take him. He went to a horse farm that belonged to a friend of a friend of a friend etc. and we haven't been able to get any updates on him but I hope he's doing well. H was in love with him and I think would have wanted to keep him if we didn't live in an apartment at the time. He's 1 of 3 animals we rescued from our neighborhood when we lived there.

@GoldenPenguin - Oh nooooooooooooooo! What did you hate about it? It is pricey but I used to use Bumble and Bumble and loved that shit and the prices are comparable to that so I just went with it. I ordered from Living Proof (I wanted the free samples!) and they have free returns so worse comes to worse I can always send it back.

@swazzle - Oh my gosh!  That breaks my heart.  How the hell can people be so cruel to chain a dog up like that so he can't lay down?  Now I'M tearing up.  I'm the furthest thing from a violent person but I frankly just want to beat people who do that.  Actually, I'd like to chain them up to see how they feel about it and THEN beat them.  Thank you for rescuing that poor dog.  I'm sure his life now is 1000% better.

@goldenpenguin - Ha!  I'm usually the only one that wakes up with Raj's barking at night if it is in the other rooms in our house...H is a sound sleeper and I'm a very, very light sleeper.  Raj won't stop barking unless I go check out what he is barking at half the time so, yeah, up I get.  As to coming into the room to wake us, Raj only comes to my side when it is an emergency.  He wakes H up for the fun "play with me" or "cuddle me" moments first.  I get the "OH MY GOD MOM, HELP!! I GOTTA GO" moments.  Fun times.
