Morning all!  How was your long weekend?  What did you do?  

I know I did a lot this weekend but now for the life of me I can't remember all what!  We got some things done for baby girl....clothes, laundry, closet organization and a few odds and ends like making sure her pack n'play vibrator works, swing has batteries, etc.  I ended up not being able to get my hair done.   When I called to make an appointment, they were already booked.  I DID get a facial though and it was really, really nice.  Hoping to get my hair done this week then.

We also planted a little garden this weekend, which was nice.  I honestly didn't think we would have time this year but I love our garden and caring for it and I'm glad we did it...we have hot peppers, three tomato plants, cucumber, a strawberry plant and loads of herbs!  H and I also went for a few walks this weekend, including a 4 mile or so one yesterday, but other than a handful of real contractions that were sporadic, no news from Miss Thing. 

Today is crazy.  H is closing on his condo sale in Chicago this week (we decided to sell it since we don't want to be landlords anymore for it) so he had to go in early.  I followed suit because work is looking really busy today.  Hopefully I can leave early because the idea of of a 14 hour day does not sound appealing (at all).

Morning! I had a really nice weekend!

I finished work early on Friday and sat out in the backyard with my book for a bit. H and I made dinner on the grill and I enjoyed some wine. 

Saturday I woke up early and lounged in the yard with my book again for most of the day. H and I eventually went to BonChon for dinner and then went to the NY Red Bulls game. It was my first time and they won! 

Sunday H and I headed to the beach for a few hours. We both got quite pink but it was SUCH a nice day. I finished reading Ready Player One while we were there (it was really good!). When we got home, I made pasta salad, guac, and pickle dip and we had some friends over for an impromptu BBQ. 

Yesterday all I did was eat and watch GOT all day long. H and I finished season 1 and got through half of season 2. It was lovely. 

And now it's stupid Tuesday and I don't want to be at work.

Deliver Ani successfully into this world through one means or another with both of us healthy.  Establish successful breast feeding with her.  Try to soak up each moment. 

-Most looking forward to?

Ani's birth hands down...and H's reaction to her.  I can't wait to see him hold her for the first time.  Also, wine.  Dear Lord am I looking forward to having a glass of wine.  

-Least looking forward to?

Pain and the uncertainty of labor/if I'll have to have a c-section.  Struggling with breast feeding.  No sleep.

-Next trip planned?

I told H I want to go to Mexico again ASAP.  We are going to talk to Ani's pediatrician to see if we can do it before I go back to work in late September.  I doubt that is a good idea but we'll see what she says.  If no, then India in February probably is the first trip planned.

@minskat30 Wow you got a lot done this weekend! I hope Miss Ani decides to make some progress this week! DH swears that because we watched an episode of Jim Gaffigan the night before I went into labor was the reason why my water broke because I was laughing so hard lol.

Last Friday we just stayed in and went to CrossFit. Disney had a marathon of all their old movies from when I was in middle school so DH and I recorded some of them this weekend and started watching them. Blast from the past.

Saturday swim lessons were cancelled for Memorial Day weekend so Callie and I just hung out at home. DH worked until about dinner time. I took Callie on a long walk and just relaxed. I really didn't get the cleaning I needed to get done this weekend at all haha. Oh and Callie turned 8 months!


Sunday was church and afterwards we went to a Memorial Day party at the lake. I made Snickers Dip and it was noms! Callie had a great time and we got home at a decent hour also which was nice.

Monday DH and I did our annual Murph challenge and I'm so so so so sore today. I'm really proud of my time though. It was the best women's time in the box but I didn't beat my time from two years ago by one minute. The rest of the day we just chilled and I made dinner.

Today I really really really really need to clean our bathrooms and do our laundry. Tonight we are going to Bible Study and having leftovers.

@Swazzle Ah your weekend sounded so nice! GoT is just going to get better from here on out, season 1 was really hard for me to catch on to but the rest is so addicting!

Get out and go running more on weekend mornings when DH isn't working.

Our week off next week and celebrating Sean's first Father's Day!

Potentially seeing our IL's at a friends wedding.

@southernpeach89 - You know, there may be something to that...maybe I should go see a comedy of some sort (my mom went into labor the day after a comedy show!).  What are you guys doing for Father's Day this year?  Also, HOW has Callie grown so much?!?  She is so precious!

@minskat30 I will definitely make breakfast and DH requested we go play Top Golf or I might get him to go play golf with my Dad out on a local course for the day. He actually wants to smoke some meat that day so he will probably do that. As for gifts I'm getting him a safe lol. We have gun safes in our house but nothing for our important documents which is kind of stupid of us. So he found a cool safe that he wants and I'll get that for him.

@southernpeach89 the lake sounds like a fun time. Jealous that you're going to FL soon too! The safe is a really good idea- I ordered H a whole beard kit from Etsy.  

My weekend was awesome- lots of relaxing, sitting on the couch, snuggle time. Sunday we got up nice & early and drove to a nearby Mountain to get some maternity pics. But it was so cloudy and foggy that you couldn't see out from the top (there's a road) so we just stopped at the bottom and took some at the cute little bridge and pond. H took them (not a pro) and I love the way they turned out! Then that night my best friend came over and we had our lobster/clam bake just the 2 of us since H doesn't eat that. It was delicious and so nice to see her.

-What are your goals for the month? document a few more procedures at work and start training my temp. Buy/set up whatever else I don't receive at the shower.

-Most looking forward to? my baby shower this Sunday! And BFF's med school graduation BBQ

-Least looking forward to? training my temp

-Next trip planned? Nada. Will use a sick day to hit the beach at least once before baby comes- I can't deal with weekend traffic or crowds.

We did a LOT this weekend. Saturday we organized most of our basement. It looks SO much better and I actually love going down there now. There are two small areas we still need to attack, but we got a lot done, plus donated a bunch of stuff to Goodwill.

Saturday night we met two other couples and two of their kids for a crab dinner. It was hot on the open-air patio and service was S L O W but we enjoyed our company.

Sunday morning I went to Crossfit and got my very first rope climb! Then I practiced handstands and kipping. H and I played 9 holes of golf and then relaxed before another dinner with friends.

Monday we went to @tuarceatha's house so that Mr. Tiger and Mr. Tuarceatha could brew some beer together. Then we came home, did laundry, and I did my sign language class. I'm really enjoying it so far.

@cu97tiger Yay for your first rope climb! DH hates the rope! I used to climb the rope a lot in my gymnastics days but those rope burns....ugh they suck!

@southernpeach89 It has a beard conditioner, oil, balm, comb, trimmer scissors! He has never used any of those products but I know he's wanted to try them out.

@twodimes I know it's a restaurant overlooking the lake and there will be like 20-25 people. I don't know anything else! My friend and I always talk about how we think themes are tacky so I know she's just doing like floral centerpieces and not a theme. Your weekend looks so fun-I just want to steal Indy for a day!

My weekend was long but exhausting. I took Thurs/Fri off to spend the days with my brother and his gf who are visiting... Thursday we walked around Boston and did touristy stuff, Friday we played games and then went to Boston Calling to see Sia perform. Saturday we drove up to NH for the weekend. Sunday I caught 12 fish! Monday we played games and drove home.

I'm exhausted. Also came into work and heard someone high up in our dept. is leaving... everyone is dropping like flies and it doesn't make our work situation any easier. So that sucks.

My brother and his gf fly out tonight so they'll meet me for dinner after work and then I'll drop them off!

@Swazzle Did any more plants disappear from your garden this weekend?

@PamBeesly524 Ugh...that stresses me out when lots of people start leaving an office. I start thinking - is there something I don't know, are the rats jumping a sinking ship? H had a lot of people leave his company about 2 years ago now and so far it's been ok, but I hate that feeling of uncertainty.

@TwoDimes Your trip is going to be gorgeous! Remind me, why are you going to CO again?

@southernpeach89 Callie in a hat is my new obsession.

How is it that 3 day weekends feel even shorter than normal weekends? Saturday felt so nice and relaxing but then Sunday and Monday felt as if they could have been combined into one day!!

On Saturday I cleaned house while H worked on some woodworking projects. He built two birdhouses for a couple of different friends who both closed on new homes last month and he FINALLY started to work on a bat house for our backyard. I guess my nagging finally paid off. That evening we had a date night at our local botanical gardens. We weren't able to go the week that his parents were here because other stuff came up so we FINALLY got to go this past weekend. We got to listen to a hilarious and really talented bluegrass band, drink wine, eat pimento cheese sandwiches, and wander all over the gardens at dusk. It was so gorgeous! I wore my favorite dress, stuck a gardenia in my hair from my garden, and got all purtied up. It was nice to have an evening out for just the two of us. During the band's first break, the MC recognized all the veterans in attendance and there were FOUR men who had served during WWII at the event. It was impressive and awe-inspiring to have so much representation from that generation.

Sunday was the lakehouse bbq. We took Cinders with us. Normally she's VERY interested in greeting all the people whenever we go somewhere new but as soon as she was out of the car she bolted straight into the water and proceeded to stay in there for the rest of the time we were at the party. That dog seriously loves to swim! We have a little floating toy that we'll toss in for her and she'll retrieve that thing for hours on end. At the end of the evening we took a boat ride around the lake with the dog. It was such a peaceful day, no humidity and we could not have asked for better weather!

Monday we got up a little early and joined my parents for a hike up a small mountain that's close to our house. Afterwards we drove out to one of the national cemeteries in Georgia to visit and reflect. The cemetery is so gorgeous. The land for the cemetery was donated by a veteran in the early 2000s. It's located on the edges of a large lake and it's part of the Etowah River Valley so it's made up of beautiful rolling hills and trees. I always kind of feel at a loss for words on Memorial Day but I'm glad we were able to go out and visit the cemetery and think about the sacrifices made by so many men and women for our country.

Good morning!
We had such a great long weekend. Friday was date night so H and I went to a wine bar where I had a pinot noir flight (YUM!) and pizza which was SO.GOOD. We also went to our favorite ice cream place.

Saturday I got my hair cut while H went grocery shopping (he is the best!). We walked down to our neighborhood pool to get our new pool code and a free hotdog. We stopped by Target looking for a new vacuum and ended up leaving with more than we anticipated buying (oops), including some new outdoor chairs and an outdoor rug (ours had been damaged from last month's hail storm). Then we went to my BFF's house for a bbq which was fun!

Sunday was H's grandpa's catered birthday celebration (complete with mimosas). After that I went to a friend's jewelry party and got the cutest necklace (minus the turquoise part):


Monday we went out for strawberry pancakes, cleaned up the house a little, and went to see X-Men which was awesome! We grilled hot dogs and watched The Bachelor before bed.

Tonight I'll be going back to the gym since the last few days were "it's a holiday weekend and I'm going to eat whatever I want".

@beachyone15 It is literally what it sounds like. It's a wooden box designed and built specially for bats to come live in. http://www.nwf.org/Garden-For-Wildlife/Cover/Build-a-Bat-House.aspx We have sooo many bugs and mosquitoes so we want to encourage the little critters to come live in our yard and eat them all up! Plus bats in the Southeast have been battling a diseae called White Nose Syndrome so they've been encouraging as much habitat creation for bats as possible to help out their populations and give bats more places to live in.

@twodimes Yea she cares way more about the theme thing than I do- I kept telling her I'll be happy and grateful for anything she does for the shower. I would never walk in and be like "oh, gross". And I love yours because to me it doesn't scream childish. Like our nursery has those woodsy decals but they are just normal looking deer, they aren't like "wide-eyed Disney cartoon" deer. That is the stuff I'm personally not into.

@beachyone15 Nice necklace! haha your Target trips sounds like H....he left Saturday to go buy a cheap fishing pole for our pond...and he came home with a deluxe fishing kayak! I was like what the hell but not mad because I know he'll use it a lot. And Seattle is amazing- yes go there.

@labro that cemetery sounds gorgeous, what a nice day.

Hello all! Sounds like your Memorial Day weekends went really well!

I'm sad @labro and @southernpeach89 are going to a part of Florida so far away from me lol. But I'm sure they'll have fun!

this month I'm looking forward to my H progressing more with his therapy. He's walking pretty well (a few balance issues) by himself which is awesome. Still a bit to go cognitively but he's improving every day. I'm also looking forward to some visitors to come help out and keep us company. It's super hard to be a caregiver and not get any time off

im not looking forward to the heat of Florida in June. Or dealing with insurance companies or finding a roof repair person to repair our roof leak before hurricane season. Basically not looking forward to adulting lol

Our next trip is likely to the west coast of florida for my sisters baby shower. If she ever decides on a theme lol. She's a bit of a mommyzilla

@Blue & White Big hugs! When are you having visitors at your house? Hopefully with school being out now it'll be a bit easier to handle full-time caregiving since you aren't have to work full-time at the same time! I wish our Florida trip wasn't so far away from you! Why is Florida so dumb?

@labro I currently have no one committed to visiting in the near future. My parents have said they'll come back in a few weeks and I know they will but no one else is nearly as reliable. I am getting groceries delivered today though so at least that's easier than dragging a wheelchair and a cart through Publix.

Blue & White Maybe you should sign up for Home Chef or Blue Apron or something temporarily too! Just one less thing you have to think about every week!
