My coworker folds our hand towels in the opposite direction from the rest of us! She goes hamburger, hotdog, instead of hotdog, hamburger. I know it sounds ridiculous but instead of just opening it up to throw an ice pack in or something, I have to completely unfold it. It only costs me an extra half second but it drives me nuts. First thing I do when I come in for my shift (she works opposite of me) is refold all of the towels.

Just explaining it makes me feel ridiculous, but it drives me bonkers. Side note, I'm proud of myself for not mentioning it to her (and sounding crazypants) and just fixing them instead!
I used to work in a fitness center and I had to fold towels quite often. I totally understand your annoyance. I always folded them like you so that when they were stacked, someone could grab by the fold and have one towel. The other way looked messier and, because of how they were stacked, it was more difficult to just grab one towel.
  • I'm in the middle of a major work project that's annoying the pants off me and not in that good way.   My teammates are very much "But this is how we've always done this" and the customer is so confused that I'm getting phone calls non stop.

Basically right now all organization is resting in my lap and I've about had it
  • Every time I have a doctor's appointment during work hours, someone has to talk to me about something oh so urgently before I leave. So, then I leave late and rush to get to the appointment on time. Then, I end up sitting in the waiting room for a half hour.

  • I sing in a choir for my synagogue and was at a rehearsal yesterday for the High Holy Days. Each member of the choir has a binder containing sheet music for the songs we will be singing during the services.

Every time our leader would announce which songs, or which parts of songs, he wanted us to sing, someone then had to ask, "What page is that on? Where are we? When do you want us to come in? What are we doing?" for five minutes, even though the leader had given specific instructions about what he wanted us to sing. I think we spent more time in those mini Q&As then we did actually singing.
  • My dental appointment had to get moved from Monday morning to this afternoon. I hate afternoon appointments b/c I feel like I am on edge all day and watching the clock. So I'm just sitting here piddling around, still with my cramps and no period.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • We live in a townhouse.  The neighbors are installing something over there today.    On the other side of our common wall.  So basically I'm going to be listening to banging all day :(

  • DH leaves the kitchen cabinet doors open.  To save him the half second of having to open them when he needs something.  No, those seconds actually do NOT add up.

Oh, that would be a deal breaker for me.

You see my dad was a safety guy.  Spoke at international conference and such.   An open cabinet door means someone else can hit their head or knock into it or something.     I actually get anxiety if I see a drawer or cabinet door open.   I've been known to shut those things in other people's homes it stresses me out so much  :o

  • Next vent: It stormed here like crazy this morning.   Power surged on and off and our wireless router may be fried from it.

My aunt knows that I WFH and wants to stop by.   She asked me how the roads are in town.  HOW WOULD I KNOW??   I can tell you what it's like outside my house but if you're emailing me and asking you have access to the exact same information that I do!

Note: She lives 10 minutes away.
  • According to the google, children should be able to know their full name and address by about age 4-6.

Why this should not apply to an adult college student is beyond me.

yep, my mom made up a song so we could recite it if we ever got lost
  • If I was sending someone a gift and they responded like that, I too would be annoyed and probably wouldn't send the original amount intended. If you have facebook messenger you can send it through there, that way it'll hit her bank account directly... Assuming she has one.

DH does this so often that he actually put it in his wedding vows. It was cute, but still annoys me.

My annoyance - Our neighbors constantly have the volume on their tv up so loudly that I can hear it in my house with the windows closed. You can hear it down the street a few houses away. Could understand if we lived in apartments and shared walls but no, it's coming from an entirely separate building. As far as I'm aware, there's no hearing issues. They're just super inconsiderate.

That doctor's office double standard sucks. If you're 5 minutes late, they give you a hard time, but if you're on time or early, you have to wait. I don't know about you, but I can only read so many old magazines.

I also totally get someone needing something right before you have to leave.

A few weeks ago DH walked out of the doctor's office because after 45 minutes he still wasn't seen.  This wasn't the first time he had long waits.   He got so fed up he fired the doctor.    He shows up on time and demands the same respect.  He understands a few minute wait, but 45 is way too long.  He had shit to do at work.

I had a 45 minute wait last week. I was okay with it since the appointment was at 4pm and there was no way I was going back to work. But, I had to wait a month to even get in to see this guy. It's not something I can just blow off, either. However, I have another appointment scheduled with the same doctor next week. We'll see how that goes.

My current specialist is the worst for this.  On my first appointment there, I started getting upset as I went past the 90 minute mark.  I went to speak to the staff at the front counter to find out what was going on, how much longer, did I get forgotten.

I was perfectly polite and did not raise my voice, but they acted like I was the crazy one for asking and complaining.  I also made the reasonable request that, if a doctor is running that late, I should have received a phone call so I could have stayed at work for at least another hour.  I was brusquely told that it is not unusual for the doctor to be running 2-3 hours late, they don't know how much longer he will be, and they don't call patients about that because they need to be ready and in the office when the doctor is ready for their appointment.  I replied, still in a calm (though annoyed) voice, that I could understand a doctor occasionally running 2-3 hours late when emergencies arise but, if this is a usual day, that is unacceptable and a problem with scheduling.

I was then immediately escorted to an exam room where I could "wait more comfortably" until it was my turn for the appointment.  Translation:  Stop with that perfectly rational and logical suggestion and the justified complaining within earshot of other patients.  2 hours and 15 minutes from when I walked through the door (on time) before he saw me.

Unfortunately, I haven't liked the last two doctors I've seen, but I do like him despite all that.  So, I'm staying despite the major inconvenience with every appointment.

I had a 4pm doctor appointment yesterday. I was supposed to come with a full bladder, so I drank a bunch of water around 3pm. They didn't call me in until about 4:20. Not cool to make someone show up with a full bladder and leave them hanging.

    not cool.

On the boat we had random drug testing.    I was called, went to the doctors and had to wait 45 minutes.  I had to pee so bad I wasn't thinking clearly.  I peed in the cup, then promptly flushed the toilet.  Which you are not allowed to do.   I had to come back later to do another testing, thus missing a whole days worth of work (boat wasn't coming back until after the office closed).

  • I just pissed off my doctor's office because they asked me to come in half an hour early for my appointment to fill out paperwork and I said, "Do I really need to be there 30 minutes early? Let's be honest, the doctor is never on time." I was then told it was my choice to come in early, but if my paperwork was not finished when it was my turn, they'd cancel my appointment.

That is absolutely a scheduling problem!!! I've only ever had delays like that when I was having surgery. I figure that is no big deal because a) emergencies surely pop up during surgery b) you want the surgeons to take their time and c) where the hell am I going after my surgery anyway? In the case of a normal appointment, there is no excuse. Their office needs to get their shit together.

WTF? You should let the doctor and office manager know about that conversation. If there's 30 minutes worth of paperwork, they should have mailed it to you ahead of time.

    Or e-mailed it to you.

There's not 30 minutes of paperwork! She said it takes some people 5 and others 30 so they suggest everyone come in 30 minutes early. I saw this same doctor all throughout my last pregnancy and I waited no less than 40 minutes after my scheduled appointment time every time. I can't see this pregnancy being any different.
  • Thank you for bringing this up guys.  I totally forgot to reschedule my appointment.  My office is 10 minutes away from my doc, and they take lunch from 12 - 1.... I usually put in a 1:00 appt because they typically don't have an appointment before me.  If you're close enough like I am, you should always ask if they all have set lunches?

I had the same thing happen to me when I had to have an ultrasound with a full bladder.  I showed up at the radiology place and I waited so long!  I was about to go up there and say something when they called me in.
  • Sorry for being a little off topic compared to what the conversation is now, but when I lived in my dorm freshman year people asked me all the time what my address was so they could send me things. I had it saved in an email and it was the same as my roommates. As a current college student who is paying for everything herself, it annoys me to no end when people think mommy and daddy are always going to be there to set up doctors appointments for them, remember their address, pay for everything, whatever.

  • Going back to wait times at doctor's offices... A few weeks ago, I went in for my annual physical, and it's at a place I notoriously wait up to an hour for every time (I ALWAYS have a book on my person, for this exact reason, and I never mind taking time off work, but I do hate waiting), so I scheduled my appointment for the very first one of the day.  7:30.

Their office doesn't open til 8, apparently, so I sat IN THE HALL for 45 minutes, waiting for them to show up so I could still wait half an hour for my appointment.

Currently in the market for a new doctor.
