Soooooo tired today. Anyone else?

Re: Too Little Sleep TUESDAY

  • Woke up to pee about an hour after falling asleep, then B woke me up soon after that. Was up until after 4am until I finally fell asleep for 2 hours.

Calf is feeling better, went for a short walk this morning but kept it slow. I'm in back to back meetings nearly all day so not a whole lot will be done today
  • I'm exhausted but it's because I stayed up way too late. I also didn't sleep well the night before, so I'm dragging ass today. It's going to be a long, long day.

I didn’t know that about the phoenix and nest but love the story behind it.  GL on the new 2nd job.  At first I read “transportation” (like uber or trucks) and then you said wpm… and I’m like what does driving have to do with typing? But then I went back to it.

sorry for the sleepless night @kvruns.  I’m right there with you.  I changed my melatonin gummies to a brand that tasted better but I’m constantly up in the middle of the night. So I re-purchased the yucky ones but seemed to work better.

Also, there’s donuts in the kitchen.  fml.

  • Allergies suck. I'm sucking on a honey lemon lozenge because nasal drip

BK went to bed fine, but woke up middle of the night crying. This was first nightmare in awhile but also first in big girl bed.
She basically stayed in bed crying - which made me believe she wasn't fully awake until shortly before I came in.
She ended up sleeping funny, so she was full of dry coughs this morning. I had her drink water to hydrate her and that seemed to slowly help.

Last night was voting - minority Liberal party to win - and it was interesting.
Our cards had numbers, so they'd ask people in line as the booths were free.
    BK did well. We're slowly trying to get her to relearn in person things, but we always plan a back up if she "misbehaves" {ie; doing dangerous things; meltdown; etc}
Except for this weekend, we'll be doing in person grocery shopping with her to help practice.
    Does she mask? We try.
Right now our focus is trying to get her to understand how to be in stores - we'll eventually get to the point of trying to encourage masking.

I'm going to be the Covid cautious mama bear here saying that while your daughter may have lower effects if she contracts Covid, the statistics do not matter to the individual.  And maybe Canada is different than around here but there is NO way I'd take my kids into a store without masks.  Plus, she can get and transmit the virus if she's out and unmasked.

Can you start her masking at home?  Practice doing grocery store shopping as part of play?  My youngest was 5 when Covid hit and we had to get him wearing a mask.  The biggest issue for him was finding one that fit and there are so many that are adjustable.  Now the kids have them on in the car not because I tell them to, but because they just know to have them for when we leave the house.
So right now under 5 is encouraged but not forced.
We have a mask for her and we put it on her but she won't do a full grocery shop with it on - it's getting better and longer but she'll manage at least half of the shop.

Plus she stays in the cart - if she wants/needs to get out, we remask
  • I walked the kids off yesterday at tae kwon do and dance and then spent the hour on a nice walk at the preserve near our home, which somehow thankfully took care of my heart palpatations.  As they weren't going away I had this panic that I'd have a heart attack and the kids would be left with STBXH and he'd never let them see my parents or family and they'd have long, sad lives.  New goal- make it to 80.  Or at least 70.  Ugh.  But I slept well and feel good today.
  • Every single child over the age of 3 near me wears a mask all day at school or day care and the entire time they are inside anywhere. Many of them still do on playgrounds which are very crowded in my neighborhood. The 2-3 year olds not so much.

Same. I'd honestly be shocked to see a kid out without a mask on.

One of my good friends has a 5 year old and a 3 year old. They both wear masks at school, dance classes, whenever they're out. Also extra scary because the 3 year old has had lung/breathing issues and pre-pandemic had pneumonia multiple times. Super scary since she obviously can't be vaccinated.
  • My 14-mo-old nephew isn't masking yet but my older nephew (who turns 2 in October) has been practicing for a couple of months.  It's 2 and up by me.  My kids were 4, 4, 5 when it all went down and masks have never been a problem.  I feel for parents of neurodivergent children, I know that I'm lucky.
  • Morning!! Just had therapy.  Woohoo!

Actually not that tired today, ha.  I'm also not that sad that it's Tuesday.

I'm picking up my friend L's son today.  L and M are coming for dinner tonight (taco Tuesday!).

It's DefConn's picture day.  I cannot wait to see what kind of goofy smile (or non-smile) he has.

I think we're purging closets this weekend.  I've been wanting to do it for awhile.  I'll feel so much better heading into fall.

I'm very excited about tomorrow's weather, rainy and in the 60's and getting down into the 40's at night. Jeans and boots, y'all!!

Ours are masked on the bus and inside school.  They don't have to wear them outside but some kids do.  Lunchtime is about 20 min and with partitions and unmasked.

Same w/o the lunch table partitions.  I wish they would since DefConn was on 14 quarantine due to lunch, even though he was cleared a week into it.

I'm crossing all crossables EUA for Pfizer comes soon and I can get his COVID shot done next month or early November.  I need to get his flu shot scheduled since you can't do vaccinations too close together.

Kiddos already have their flu shot scheduled for next mo.  Our pedi does a flu vaccine clinic so I can get the kids vaccinated on a Friday night after school.  My hope is that they can receive the covid vaccine on a Friday night in early November which will allow DH and me to monitor for any issues.  I had minor discomfort after the 1st and wanted to sleep all day after the 2nd.  Obviously the kids could be different but if I can avoid it impacting school I'll take it.

OK.  Here in US and CT the rule is masks for those over 2.  Is the cart in the open air?  If it is then there's really no change in whether or not she's in the seat or walking.   Again, we have had a lot of success in ensuring that we're following the same protocols.  DH and I are both vaccinated and we both wear a mask when we're out of the house and in a community setting right next to Chiquita and Chiquito.  I witnessed it over the summer with BIL and SIL and their 3 kids.  It was obviously evident that they don't enforce mask wearing with their kids because they couldn't make it through a diner breakfast and their kids are ages 5-8.     Forgive me for being on a soapbox but the way we're going to get ourselves out of pandemic is by doing our part and doing it consistently.  That means getting your kids to wear the masks more often if necessary so when it IS necessary the mask stays on and they neither contract the virus nor spread it and allow it to mutate further than it already has.

I am very optimistic at the latest Pfizer data this  morning and am relieved that there are no cases of myocarditis reported in the kids that were vaccinated as part of the trial.  I'm hoping that by the holiday season my two will have received two doses.
Oh M & I wear our masks. She sees people wearing them and that's probably half the reason she lasts as long as she does with a mask.

In school she doesn't have to. Even kindergarten 4 they aren't enforcing it, but they are heavily encouraging it - as the kinder 5 does

    I think rules here are different - restaurants you wear going in, and leaving table but while at table you don't have to. As well as outside - it's not a rule, but keeping a distance is so kids aren't masking at the park by us but they're also not playing close if they aren't in same house. {We also don't go to the park if it's busy}
  • Today feels like a Wednesday to me, and I'm not enjoying the reminders that we have not gotten that far yet.

I had a conversation with my mom about some things this weekend that's still stuck in my head. I don't think she meant to, but a comment she made really cut deep. I'm kind of sitting with that today. Nothing much else going on. It's still raining, but looking like nice fall weather is coming later in the week.
  • We have the same rules in restaurants. Masks on except for when you're sitting down and eating. I know it's been all over the news, but NYC now requires proof of vaccination to dine inside. Also all over the news, one of our customers had an incident where the hostess was attacked because tourists didn't have proof of vaccination.

How was voting last night?  Was there a good turnout?  I just hope lots of people voted in this election.  It was stupid for him to call one (spent all that money and we are right where we started), but it's still good to vote.

    STUCK IN THE BOX:

Oh no I saw that last week.

I hate so many people now.
  • The rules say I don’t have to wear a mask at all because I’m vaccinated. I still do for both myself and for others. While the vaccine works very well, there are still breakthrough infections, and while people refuse to get vaccinated, the virus will continue to mutate. So I mask. Public health is nuanced. Blanket rules are not.

  • Not too much going on over here. The house is still a mess after our vacation so I’ll be concentrating on that after my workout when I get home. I didn’t sleep very well so I’m sleepy. I am deep in the pumpkin spice lattes this year. I need help.

  • Quiet day for me except my house is a disaster and it is time to tackle it. Tonight’s project: folding and putting away all the laundry.

    WTF attacking!?

We'll have "vaccine passport" as of tomorrow - I've got printed proof of my vax in case I can't get passport right away

I was more impressed the line went well. M & I swapped BK because we couldn't technically stand together when inside.
    There was a park just outside so if it was going to take a long time, we agreed to swap and not have her try and stay in line {especially when hungry}
But she did great actually :)

We were laughing because we stopped at Subway on way home for dinner and BK insisted on carrying the bag .... it was nearly run over 2x because she dropped it in the parking lot lol She wouldn't let us carry it, so M carried her to the car

I saw it too. That poor young woman was so terrified.  They had their hands around her neck!!!

Also, being an old and shaking my cane, but PUT THE FUCKING CAMERAS DOWN AND FUCKING HELP PEOPLE.  The incident did NOT need to be recorded.  There were plenty of eye-witnesses.  The world didn't need to see the video you took instead of helping her.  Jesus, Mary, and Joseph.
