Anyone... Bueller?

Anyone around today?  It's so quiet!

H has duty today, and woke me up at the asscrack of dawn to drive him in.  It stinks because the shuttles don't run on the weekends, so he has me drive him for weekend duty since I have closer access than he does to drop him off.  Now I'm just impatiently waiting for football to start, and for my stamina to refill on Oregon Trail.  Man, buying those trail notes is so tempting!

Bored and anxious describes me some days, so I totally get that feeling!  Especially on a day like today, where i have nothing to do, but things like our house hunting trip and H's upcoming deployment are constantly running through my minnd, so I'm always anxious about that.

I've been good though, how are you?  My parents and family friends were here for a week and just left on Friday.  We had a great time with them, and now my house seems so quiet.  But I'm all for a day of laying on the couch and watching football!  What's new with you?

Yeah, H is getting ready to leave soon for a training so I'm waiting for that to just happen already. How is the house hunting going? My parents were down to visit in October. I loved having them. I will be heading to Florida for Thanksgiving so I will get to see them then too. Not much is really new with me. I had a 4 day weekend and am soooo not looking forward to going to work tomorrow.

I love long weekends!  But going back to work after is always tough.  I didn't have a long weekend, but my phone was dead on Friday so I feel like i was off.  H was off Friday, and has off Monday and Tuesday too which is nice, then we leave for VA on Saturday.  I can't wait to go house hunting!  We have 2 houses that we both LOVE, so we are really hoping to end up liking at least one of those enough to put in an offer.  There are quite a few that we will at least walk through, but we've done tons of research on these 2 and are big fans.  I just want to go there already!

I hate waiting to go somewhere! It just gets you more anxious. I'm so happy for you guys! I hope you at least LOVE one of the houses in person. It will make everything much more real then and you will have some exciting things to look forward to after his deployment.  Are you going to make it back home for thanksgiving or no? I know you said before that you weren't sure if you were going to be able to make the drive.

No we decided not to.  We actually booked our flight back here on Thanksgiving since it was so much cheaper.  Then we will probably end up doing a "Thanksgiving dinner" on Sunday or something.  I'm going home for Christmas though at least, but obviously H won't be going.

I know, I can't wait to go and put an offer on a house!  Once we have an idea of closing and stuff then I can plan my move better.  Plus we will know what we need to buy for the house, so I can start looking into that and paint colors and decorarting ideas!  Ughh, I just want it to be here already!  I stalk the list from our realtor everyday to make sure the houses we like are still available, and I might cry if someone else buys them the week before we get there.

Decorating is going to be so much fun! You can plan so many things out then. I'm sure the houses will still be there, or a better one :)

I don't think we're heading back home until summer time. Christmas flights are just so expensive and we'd have to rent a car, and we'd probably stay with his mom and she has 3 dogs and 2 cats and I'm horribly allergic. It would just be awful. We would rather drive home for a week in summer, can stay with my parents, and I won't end up in the hospital because of an allergy attack haha. We think we might invite his mom down sometime after Christmas to visit us, especially since we will probably be going to Florida for christmas (its only a 6 hr drive).

I'm here. Waiting for football as well.. Everyone is playing on the west coast today... So all the freakin' games start at 1. Annoying. I'm also obsessed with my pictures since we just got them in the mail yesterday. FB is driving me nuts though.. It's only letting me upload 6 at a time so I just picked a bunch of favorites. (still a lot.. haha)

Dn I hope the house hunting goes well. I'm glad you're excited about it.. That's the only thing that stresses me out about PCSing. When I was a kid, we just... had a house. Mom always found one.. Now I'm an adult and I have to contribute to the search.. boo :P
Agreed with ggirl.. I would imagine that finding a house that you LOVE will make deployment so much better because then you get to look forward to him returning and you getting him AND the house. Win-win :)

    Yay Stan!!!

I am not watching football since the Bills game isn't on here but from what I can tell its not going well. I'm ok with not watching it since H is a Cowboys fan and I can imagine the arguments we would have.

I'm here too! I have choc. chip cookie brownies in the oven for my first care package for H. :) I spent the majority of the morning cleaning, while I waited for stores to open, 99% of the stores here are closed on Sundays. I'm only use to the liquor stores being closed on Sundays LoL now everything else is closed BUT the liquor stores. I was able to find everything H needed, but my brownies are giving me trouble. Hoping they turn out otherwise its generic choc. chip cookies this time.

Speaking of football, I have yet to see the Minnesota Vikings on T.V here. Although I get they are crappy I still wanna see my purple and gold! They better play the Monday game vs the Packers. It's a huge game back home and I'd love to see it live (highlights are not the same). end.rant.

Yeah I really think that buying the house and moving while he is gone will make the depoyment go by much faster.  The move itself will probably take about a month total at least between setting it up, the packers and movers coming, the drive, and then finally unpacking everything.  I am not looking forward to doing it alone, but know that in the end it's the best solution for our situation, so I'll deal with it.  I'm definitely happy that I at least have H to go house hunting with me.  I would never want the stress of picking out a place myself, because I know as soon as anything went wrong I would feel like it was my fault.

Ggirl- flights at holidays are soo outrageous.  I definitely won't miss paying for cross country flights for everything we have to do, and to be able to just drive home if we want to.  I really do love it out here, but now that the move and the deployment is looming I am just ready for it all to be here already so that we can get it over with already!

We're not quite sure why he would need a reminder to buy me a present and what it is for but I did not get one on that day so I want it now.

Also, can I just say how excited I am for Thanksgiving. It is my favorite holiday and I am so excited to just eat and drink with family. This is also the first thanksgiving in 3 years that I have off the day after so I am looking forward to that too.

I'm excited but kinda stressing a little... Since I'm hosting a dinner for H's crew (about 20 people including their families) and I have never COOKED Thanksgiving meals before... I'm a little nervous.
I have a lot of recipes, but I'm still missing a few and can't seem to find anything I like..  :/ Arg. I really wanted to have the menu finalized today.

Shan do you have NFL Redzone channel?  We have gotten one Bills game here between last year and this year which stinks.  But we ordered the sports package through our cable company, which is only $9 a month and gives us the Redzone channel, which shows every scoring play from around the league.  It's not the same as watching the full game, but it's definitely better than nothing!  Plus we are both huge into fantasy football so we love having it for that.

The post office gets so backed up that I don't want him to not end up getting his Christmas & Anniversary presents.  I'm making him a slide show with lots of pictures and reasons why I'm Thankful for him, and why I love him and cheesy ooey gooey things like that!  I'm probably going to send him at least one more with some goodies.. even though he doesn't like sweets, but I think I'm going to make him granola bars and stuff.

FTL what are you missing recipes for?  We hosted Easter dinner earlier this year for H's shop, but made it a Thanksgiving meal since they had been gone for it last year.  I had never cooked it either, but it turned out really good.  We also do a deep fried turkey though which takes a lot of pressure off me!

The Cable company has a football package for $40 for the season (it's 500 games and NFL Redzone) we were going to, but we knew H would be gone for the majority of the FB season so we passed. (I usually only catch the Sunday games and Monday if the Vikes are playing - and really dont watch College) I was really bummed that ESPN 3 doesn't have any NFL football but I guess its a ABC, CBS thing :(

-_____ I can't pick between the 5million recipes I have.. lol.. I need something that doesn't go in the oven.. >_<

    -Honey baked Ham
    -Turkey

    Starches/Casseroles:
    -Twice baked potatoes
    -Corn Casserole

-carrot Casserole (I can't remember who gave me this one but someone on TK)
---________________ (I feel like I need something more.. one more item? )

    sides:
-red lobster biscuits (I love this recipe so hard)
---Crock pot veggies (so I haven't DONE this yet, I don't have a recipe for it but I know I need to make the veggies in the crockpot so I can leave them be for a while and have one less thing to think about)
-Bacon and Green beans (stove top to save me oven space as well)
---Cranberry sauce (I don't have a recipe for this one yet, but I don't want just straight out of can)

Holy crap, you are making sooo much!  They will definitely be appreciative of it all.  I don't think you are missing anything, and would be fine with exactly what you have.  I would totally do something easy for the veggies in the crockpot, like something similar to this:

I think you have plenty, but I always love appetizers best anyways, so what about a dip that you can just microwave instead of put in the oven?

So I have this AWESOME feta cheese/tomato sauce dip.. It's incredible with sliced french bread... I wonder if it would be okay to mic instead of oven.. hmm.. good call, maybe I should try it out..
That cheesy veggies looks awesome! Thanks beachy, I think I may test that one out today to see how it goes :)

I tend to go a little overboard with hosting />_<
ACK I keep forgetting GRAVY. omg.. I'm seriously going to forget that... I'm writing out all these recipes in my notebooks so I have it all together and easy to grab and read. I'm making a timeline so I know when to start what. I think I will make the pumpkin pie the day before and do the twice baked the day before, then finish them the day off.
I guess I keep thinking there is some casserole I'm forgetting but maybe not. All I need not is a cranberry recipe. yay for almost being done!

    I'm totally overthinking this aren't I? lol.

Oh! and for Sami, Irish, and Crown.. and whoever else cares.. lol... I started the decor stuff.

The middle vase will have deep and bright orange flowers. I found these flower that is almost bronze. Imagine baby's breath but goldy/bronze. SO pretty! Can't wait to get the flowers for the centerpieces

What I did with the napkins

     The windows in the room

There'sa not enough space on the dining tables for all the food (and besides, there's three tables anyway) so I have three tables set up similar to this as a buffet line in my kitchen.

    Yay Holidays :)
