Don't feel selfish about it. We all need a "selfish" day. Make today, yours. that probably has a bit to do with why you're a little off today. I hope you feel better tomorrow then! be pouty and eat junk food today ;) haha kidding.. veggies and fruits have the vitamins and minerals to naturally cheer you up so I GUESS you should go that route..... ;)

And here I thought you were all upset that my FMIL couldn't make decisions for herself.  Granted, you can't have USAA as you aren't in the military and aren't married to one, but as soon as you guys get married you can have an account there if you want.

Well, I think he made the wrong choice, but whatever.

Yes, as of right now it does have to be a joint account.  I believe (and someone correct me if I'm wrong, because I very well may be) that a military spouse is entitled to have an account.

When we signed up for car insurance, they warned me that until we were married, FI could cut me off from insurance at any point and they wouldn't be able to warn me or notify me.  Basically: if you break up, get new car insurance ASAP.  But once we're married, he can't do that anymore and I could have my own insurance.

    GOOOOOODDD AFTERNOOON/MORNING LADIES!!!!

I was super sleepy this morning, but I'm all better now.  I treated myself to a pedicure!!  (I really wish I spoke whatever language the ladies there do.. I always feel like they're talking about me and my feet for whatever reason) I'm trying to wrap up some homework and then I'm going for a run (and I'm actually really excited for it!!) I was offered another job, that I think might be good IF I could do it mostly from home.  It's for a Family run Farm (Clicky) as an office manager.  Basically doing inventory, updating their FB(I already do this for Curves) & Website, ordering stuff and what not.. I mean, I have Monday afternoons, Tuesdays, Wednesday afternoons and Saturdays that I could physically BE there, but I'd much rather just be there on Tuesday and Saturdays when I can spend all day, and do the other stuff from home.  My mom used to manage one of their greenhouses, and I actually taught all the grandkids how to swim, so I know the family really well.  Anyway,  I have to let them know by Friday, so I guess I'll be thinking about it till then..

FTL-I'm totally with you, no baby fever here.  No judgement for those that do have it, but babies are not for H and I at least not in the near future.  We're thinking maybe when H's 30, that's 3 more years so I'll be 26..

Hike- you'll continue to be in my T&P's!!!

Kendall- As you are not a dependant yet, you can't have a USAA account without it beign a joint account. This is very true.
I am an army brat so it was next an issue to open an account, although we have a joint account that we made when we were still just dating, and then both our our own personal account attached to it.
I used to have AFCU (Andrew's Federal Credit Union) which is the Army credit union, an dit was fine but not as handy dandy as USAA or Navy Fed. In fact, my mom switched from AFCU to Navy Fed.

Any big bank isn't going to be great. They are out to get money. Credit Unions are not. Big big difference between the two. And an even BIGGER difference if you get a military CU because they are all about catering to the military couples. USAA is our heaven and made the accounts, joint account, putting me on his credit card, changing me from gf--- /> fiancee----> wife soooo easy, switching insurance, insuring the ring, etc... HEAVEN.

Honestly, I don't know. I doubt it though... I mean.. I'm pretty sure they would have you open a bank account to use their insurance. But it's a CU, so they don't charge for you to use them as a bank, so what's it matter?
I understand not being able to walk into a bank, but quite frankly I have had suuuuch better customer service with USAA than I ever EVER had with WF or Bank of America.
SOOO MUCH BETTER. GOSH they just make life easy. Especially if you have wierd charges from something or something happens to your card.. They barely ask questions before reimbursing you.
Also, if that's the issue, have him consider Navy Fed or AFCU. Whenever there isn't a bank in the area, they have "sister banks" that you can use. Basically they make "besties" with local banks so that you can have that "walk in" effect. USAA doesn't do this, although I don't miss it. hah

AFCU was a good bank. I used that when my mom was working for the Army over in Germany.
    I don't think it's "bad" but I wouldn't. We have...
    USAA- for everything
Citi- H's travel credit card (so the squadron's bank)
WF- I still have a credit card open with them, although I never use the account... I was just too lazy to go close it when I closed my checking/savings because it look longer lol
WF- because that's what one of our home loans was through (for our appliances) we're almost done with that piece of the our homeloan so this account will be closed soon.

The only reason I would advise agains't having more than one or two is because it's bad to misplace anything.. and you have to remember to ALWAYS keep an eye on every single one of those accounts. This day in age makes it easy to have identity theft, and if you don't catch that FAST than you will be out a good chunk of money (and regular banks aren't going to be willing to reimburse much of that like a lot of CUs (cough cough usaa) would be.
Also long as you have a file in your file cabinet with all your banking information, including online accounts and passwords, and check each thing at LEAST once a week, then you can. I don't see why it would be necessary.

You can have insurance without having an account with them.  I have had USAA car insurance since I was able to drive.  I will say that both H and my home mortages are through them.  (We each bought a house prior to us meeting.)  We haven't merged them yet but will.  Yeah just call me lazy!  We are keeping mine but selling his when he gets PCS.

Any way sorry for the ramble.  So long story, I don't have an account with them but have insurance on both the car and the house.  H bought my E-ring from them.  We are going to open up bank accounts with them when he gets back.  Again, I got bit by the lazy bug.  HA

If you can have USAA you should in my opinion.  They are great with claims and such.  Again just my opinion.

We have insurance without a bank account.  So, yes.  And they're insuring my ring for super duper cheap.  My friend has USAA insurance on her ring, and two weeks after her wedding while moving houses her diamond fell out mid-move.  She didn't even cry - she just called USAA, and they sent out the paperwork to her on the spot.  Her FI found the diamond later that day amazingly, and USAA paid to have it re-set.  They were prepared to pay for a new diamond for her, too, but she's glad that she has her original stone.  I highly, highly recommend them!

FI also has the same issue about not having a brick-and-mortar location.  Our compromise is having one account with a brick-and-mortar bank so we can deposit money and then transfer it to the USAA account (which FI swears he's going to open as soon as he gets his last payment from the Marines for this past summer).

I have been doing battle with a mouse all weekend. I am going to win this battle if it is the last thing I do...

A little bit of liquid courage made for a very interesting evening last night. Rainboots, long pants, thick gloves, a mop and freshly baited traps. My apartment is a studio, basically one large room, I barricaded the mouse into my "room" with my large mirror. But this little thing is making me crazy... I'm sure if I had a few more shots I probably would have just grabbed the little nasty and threw him out the window.

I was at the closest 3 feet away, i choked....how was I supposed to catch it? If I were to throw something over it there would be no way to move it outside... not with one set of hands. I am pretty sure it was laughing at me because it just sat on top of the "no see" traps instead of eating the buffet inside.. It was fairly interested in one trap that had cheese and peanut butter in it ...even went inside for a snack...but the stupid thing never sprung! He came right out after eating all the food.  I then ran to the store to get those sticky pads.. thinking he would just scurry over it and it would be done... Nope... the little mouse is smarter than it looks and just avoided those things.

First "Working" Day I have been home and I call the maintenance people to come take care of it, just bring a trap and get him...It isn't like he is coming and going, he IS in my apartment and hasn't left since I patched the hole he came in with steel wool. After 4 hours...THEY NEVER CAME BY, no call, nothing.. I am beyond pissed about that, I mean it is in their best interest to make me happy and keep their property pest free.

Anyway... This mouse hasn't won yet. At first I was scared of him, then I felt bad because he was cute, now he has just gotten on my last nerve.

This exactly! I grew up on USAA for car insurance and other things. I had my car keys stolen one weekend and my house key was on it and they offered to have all of the house locks replaced free of charge and even called to check up on me. They have also called to check on me and see what I needed after a bad car accident as well. I HIGHLY recommend them to anyone and everyone military. They are amazingggg. We didn't have an account with them until last year (well FI - not me I'm a NFCU girl, LOVE them!)
