Re: Where is everyone?

  • Overall it wasn't too bad at all. There were some up's and downs but it was a pretty decent weekend.
I'm busy with work and wedding stuff today. How was your weekend CAB? Do anything fun?

  • I was thinking the same thing!! Mine was good. Hung out with H, got some errands done, and we started watching "Game of Thrones." Interesting series and we both seem to like it so that's a plus!! I'm trying to wrap things up at work, since I'm traveling Wednesday through the weekend so it's a little nuts here.

  • I was sick most of it but my mom and I made Valentines cookies last night and I got DH a card and candy for the box I'm sending tomorrow so it will be pretty late. We don't usually do Valentine's Day but DH got me something so I got him a card, some candy, and I finally finished his quilt. He has some pretty swanky accommodations this deployment (compared to the usual) so I'm going to send his quilt too.

  • Hopefully, more ups than downs AMH!!! Ugh you're so closeeee! I am so excited for you!

    Irish, where ya going?

As for me, H's brothers were down all weekend, so we pretty much hung out with them. We went to this awesome pizza place last night, but since his fam doesn't drink AND doesn't eat mean (hrrrmph) I'm gonna have to take H back there very soon to REALLY enjoy it. Although, the pizza we did have was pretty good. It had artichokes, ricotta cheese, parm, an a bunch of other veggies...

    Ok, it needed some meat.

Anyway, I just bought H his anniversary gift. Just some brown Oxford shoes he's been needing. I really wanted to find him a Skyrim zip up hoodie, but they don't seem to exist. Oh well. IDK what else to get him, I want to make him choc. covered strawberries, but how do I do it when I live with him and want to make it a surprise? LOL

  • CAB, is there anywhere you can send him while you make them? He may suspect something but at least what it is would be a surprise? Idk that's my only idea.

  • Pretty good. Washer is fixed, now dishwasher is broken. Every time I run it it backs up into the sink with the garbage disposal. Mmmmmm. But, they're going to fix it, so, I'm not too worried. I feel like I'm never going to get unpacked. Part of that is that I'm so sick of it. I definitely miss FI today, but I think we're doing pretty well.

  • Hi guys! H checked into his new post today. I hope he has a great day and enjoys the people he meets. I also hope he somehow meets someone who has a wife that I like. I'm in need of a friend. I spent the morning doing laundry, cleaning up the dishes, going to the library and post office, and just got home from an hour long walk. I'm going to finish the laundry so I earn my keep ;-) I told H that last night and he didn't find it very funny.

I wish :/ He's a studying machine, so getting him out is pretty much impossible! The only thing I can think of is locking him in our room and keeping him outta the fridge until tomorrow. That's what I will probably do :)
  • Hike, it wasn't til about a month before I moved home before DH found a friend who had a wife I could stand for more than an hour or two. I wished I could clone you guys and bring you all to 29 when I was there. DH worked with a lot of REALLY young guys though.

  • My weekend was fabulous, I had a great time hanging out with my BFF since high school. It also helps a ton that she and FI enjoy hanging out together. :-) Today sucks though. I woke up with a stomach bug, and have spent the last 8 hours either getting sick or lying in bed feeling miserable. Amh, your wedding is so close! Are you getting excited? Irish, good luck getting everything done before your trip. Going anywhere fun? CAB, I would ditto what Sammy said, is there some way you can kick him out of the house for a couple hours? Or could you borrow a friends kitchen? Hike, I hope you and H get to meet some awesome peon very soon! Sammy, I hope you're feeling better! Sounds like you got a lot done! Divine, I hope they get your dishwasher fixed soon! Sounds like you're having some bad luck so far!

  • Mel---Because our local board is kind of dead, I have a question for you that I will try to make as vague as possible. If you live where I think you do, what do you think of a reception at the Zoo? I'm talking to the woman today, but I haven't been there since before the last renovation. I'm hoping they would provide some security, as they only open it for receptions at night. Would that, as a resident who knows a bit about the town, freak you out?

Yep, this sounds like a splendid idea.  Or call up the Joint Chiefs and tell them that they've got to arrange it with all the branches for all our significant others to be stationed near each other.  Yep.

FI and I were talking about TBS yesterday, and he was all excited for me to go to LINKS and meet other spouses.  TBS is my personal version of heII - a whole bunch of displaced spouses who have too much time on their hands since for most of them it's hard to find something full time for the 6 months we'll all be there.  They are all fairly new to the military, or new Officers who are prior Enlisted, so I just forsee a giant pissing contest where everyone tries to establish rank and figure out the new social order.  Thank you, no thank you!  I promised FI that I would go to at least one event, but I told him I'm much more likely to find people I like on my own, or spouses of guys he gets along with whom we can invite over on weekends and such.  Rather than forced togetherness with all the spouses.  Ughh....

    Anniversary

  • UGH I have been working all morning!  BLAH!!!! I want/need a day off.

My weekend was pretty good.  I got my hair relaxed on Saturday so this Curly Sue now has straight hair again for a while anyway.  I am having a hard time not putting it behind my ears.  I don't want to end up with a "bend" in my hair.
  • Divine- I know it isn't the same zoo but we had our reception at the zoo and it kicked ass.

  • Mel - I am! I'm hoping to finish off the little details this week and be done with all of that. So I can just relax and enjoy the rest of the time before the wedding. Fingers crossed it pans out like that. As long as everything is done before the 25th, I'll be a happy camper.

Hike - I'd love to do a doggie GTG soon, my dog is just being a super big pain atm. We have some training for her coming up soon and once she has her doggie manners in place we'll have to set something up.
It sucked moving down here for me, and it took me about 3 months to find a friend. Now I've got about 3 good friends here, 4 once Fire gets down here :) Girls down here seem to either be too preoccupied with their 4 kids (quite literally) or just very snobby. But I hope its different up by your way, have you seen your neighbors or spoke with them at all? Maybe there is someone in the neighborhood you can make friends with?

  • My weekend went by really fast. I took my little to the Circus on Friday which was fun. :) H set up the Kinect on Sat so I played that while taking breaks from cleaning. Yesterday H insisted on tagging along to get groceries which made it take a little longer. I finished up my cleaning by scrubbing the 2 bathrooms... made dinner and watched the Grammys. :)

We are having some OOT friends over for the long weekend and I am super pumped! The long weekend will be nice and it's my 3 favorite people on the planet (excluding family).

Oh jeez, I haven't been to the zoo in forever.  I think it would be a cool place for a reception though!  Personally, I would think it's awesome and would go to a reception there, although I definitely think that you'll need some kind of security, just to make people feel a little easier about it. If they don't provide security, maybe ask about hiring some off-duty police for the night?

ETA - our local board is beyond dead. I've given up on ever checking it. You can almost see the tumbleweeds rolling across the screen when the page loads.

  • I'm am so pissed off right now. I just spent 20 minutes on the phone with insurance company for over 20 minutes. They had a damn automated system that couldn't recognize what I was saying and I kept getting transferred to the fucking bitchiest lady ever (sorry Hike). She was yelling at me for asking questions because she was trying to tell me to go to the website. Lady I need to see if mental health services are covered before I can look for a provider! I'm so pissed off right now
  • Sorry Zims. Insurance people can really suck. That's why I stopped being one, it sucked the soul outta me and I became a careless mo fo! :)

Do a google search on them, maybe you'll find more info on them! :)
  •  I have been mostly busy at work. Or trying to make myself busy, my new desk is right by the break room and the conference room so people are constantly walking by….not so good for TK. Plus, sitting next to my supervisor makes it hard to have down-time.  We got snow this morning so I had a slippery drive to work…but I made it. 30 minutes late, but I made it.  My new office is about 15 minutes closer so it is really nice.
This weekend I went down to Dallas, I got to try on my dress! She wanted me to look at it before she took it apart (and pay it off..haha) It was still pretty big when I tried it on, so she has to take it apart and then she is going to pin me in it in three weeks.. I suppose this is normal.  It is so pretty, I love it.
I feel like a little teenage girl, but I just read the Hunger Games this weekend and I cannot wait until the movie comes out.

  • I had the flu this weekend! The only good-ish thing about that being that it got me out of work on Friday.

Otherwise, I was able to spend some quality time with my FI's parents, as well as got to have a talk with the the FI that lasted longer than 5 minutes. WIN!! Laughing Finally getting some wedding stuff put together with the vague details we've got to work with, and I'm kinda psyched.

I tried Facebooking some and google mapped their offices haha!
  • Call each place Zims and ask info about what they offer, what type of people they see etc. Ask if they have a psychiatrist on staff, how long it would take to get into see them. How the intake process works? For example, at our office when you call, the support staff takes basic info and then the counselor will call you back in 1-2 business days, gain some more info from you about your needs etc. You will then be able to see if it sounds like a good fit.

  • I'm having some second thoughts on my dress.  It's too late, so I'm trying to just process them and move on.  I love how it looks and feels, but I'm finding myself really envious of dresses that are a little less poofy and have lace straps.

I feel like it's hard to walk in and poofy, and even with the bustle it's huge.  I'm afraid people will be stepping on my dress all night.  I'm afraid since it's strapless that stepping on my gown will result in the dress getting pulled off.

I think I'll probably do more tailoring this summer when I get up north in May, and hopefully that will help.  If this is the only thing I get 'cold feet' about, I'm okay with that.

I've also had freebie meet 'n greet sessions with a therapist, who openly admits that we might not be a good fit for each other, either on their end or mine. See if that's an option maybe? The whole thing is a PITA, sorry you're going through that!!

Mine was strapless and H stepped on it while we were giving peace in the middle of our ceremony. Even though it was loose we didn't have any wardobe malfunctions. So you will be fine. :) Just make sure it snug

Cali, your FI is off to TBS?  Jealous.  My blood pressure won't pass MEPS so I'm not going.  :(  But we had sushi over the weekend with friends of ours who our recruiter introduced us to.  She's the only female contracting out of our district so far this year.

Fortunately, the Navy will commission you until you're 147, so if I can get the BP down naturally, I've still got time.  :)
  • kellieinkc, I applied Navy once as an aviator and NFO.  Obviously I didn't get picked up because now I'm applying MC.  What job are you shooting for?
