[QUOTE]Kara: that's awesome you go and shoot with your husband. I do a little and some of the guns still scare me but I'm tryign to get better. FI turns 21 in February and can finally get the Glock he's had his eye on haha. He wants me to do the classes too and carry one when I'm old enough. I feel like I'd do a lot better with smaller gun because there's way less kick and that's what mainly scares me. <strong>Is it sad I saw a little pink gun at Scheel's the other day and was like "Oh how cute it'd fit in my purse"</strong> hahaha I'm a dork

We have such similar taste! We buy a case of this every fall. Best pumpkin beer. ever.

I like getting to know people, and I've been offline for a while. We started looking for houses in Norfolk but we just couldn't find anything we like. I also spent a lot of time researching the area and we didn't like some of the stuff I found such as high crime rates. </div>

Yep Navy! He's assigned to an aircraft carrier, but he only has to be on it for dets and deployments. Norfolk is ok. I would prefer to live in VA Beach though; it's just nicer. And I know what you mean about crime rates. I grew up in a city of about 40,000 in WI, and went to a college in a city of about 50,000, so serious crime was never much of an issue. Then I moved here at the end of last year, and just about every day on the news they talk about shootings!! Mind blowing, really. But at least the weather is nicer here! My hometown got a dusting of snow last week! Yuck! So what about you and your H? And how was Japan?! I am so jealous! I would love if he got stationed outside the US, but it won't happen.

<div>Binx, I will be sending you a PM about specifics does since my H is on a carrier too, I wonder if they're on the same one? What does he do? I spent my childhood in the Philippines, then my teenage years in CA, lived in a city with a population of almost 500,000 so I know all about the crime rates too. It's there everyday in the news, although I never did see it since we never lived in areas where they were usually at. I am liking the weather here so far though, I love that it's cold again!</div><div>
</div><div>Japan was amazing, I loved getting to go there and seeing/experiencing so many things. Although if your FI were to be stationed there I'm not sure how much he would like it. There's only 1 carrier out there and the way the command is is a bit different than here. H already sees such a huge difference in between the 2. </div>

Nice! I've heard really good things about it, Rugers are all around nice guns. :) My FI loves guns, and its rubbed off on me a good chunk. I'm from the Ocean Lakes area of Virginia Beach, it's about 3 miles from Damn Neck base. If you ever need new food recommendations let me know and I'll do my best :) I lived there since I was 6. Our favorite range was C2, its an outdoor range in southern virginia beach (pungo) it was about a 30 minute drive, but we loved the drive - it gave us a great excuse to go to Pungo Pizza and have chicken bacon ranch pizza and I much rather shoot outdoors any day.

FYI - If your looking for a smaller purse size gun, it's going to have more kick than a full size gun. Even if its the same firing ammo. Ex. a full size 9mm will have less kick than a compact 9mm, because there is more to accept the recoil, in most cases. I've never shot a compact that had less recoil than a 9mm, FI bought a purse gun - a Diamondback 380 and it was a bit smaller than my hand, let me tell you what that was the WORST gun we ever bought and thankfully he sold it a few weeks ago. I shot maybe 10 rounds through it and hated it.

Kara-  I have a Ruger SR9.  It's my carry gun!  I love it.

I'm looking to get a smaller one though for in my purse.  I'm thinking a Ruger LCR.  I like the LCP better but it's difficult for me to pull the slide back.  Which isn't helpful in emergency situations.

Spiffy: I can't believe you and H have the same gun. That's awesome! I am so happy that he LOVES it. I on the other hand really have to get used to shooting it.

Amh: The range we go to actually told us about the outside range in Pungo but we haven't had time to check it out yet. We go to Superior Pawn & Gun since that's where we got the Ruger and they offered us half off for the membership. I haven't been to Ocean Lakes but we are also about 3-5 miles from Dam Neck base, I think we're in the Green Run area since I see so many signs of that. lol And yes give me those recs!!!

We've been shooting there several times, I really liked them. They were always our alternative if we didn't go to C2. The guy there is really nice and I love the option to rent guns and try them out. So your pretty close to lynnhaven mall then? I had a few friends who lived in Green Run and they seemed to like it.
Skinny Dip Frozen Yogurt - Is simply amazingg! I love them
Pungo Pizza - The best, amazing garlic knots.
Rigoletto Italian Cafe and Bakery - The best. I used to work here, and the lady is from Italy and everything bakery wise and cake wise is handmade. Its a cute shop and the food is to die for.
Malbon Brothers - They have decent BBQ, my favorite is Caronlia BBQ at the fairs - best ever. I used to work for them during the summer while FI was deployed, best group of guys and the bbq is just amazing.
Baja Cantina - 23rd ST and Pacific - Hole in the wall but they have the BEST fish tacos I have ever had in my life.
Guadalajara - Has yummy margarita's but El Tapitio/Senior Fox (owned by the same people) have great mexican. Guad as great shrimp tacos off their taco bar menu.
Jewish Mother - Best hot sandwhichs, bring your empty stomach there because the food is HUGE.
That's all I got atm. If you want to PM me for specifics your looking for let me know :)
