Military Brides

I feel crafty (PIP)

I finally got my lazy butt around to making my trial bridesmaid bouquet. I wanted to buy the flowers and try my hand at floral arrangements before I committed to my bridal bouquet.

It only took me about half an hour to get it done, and *does math* only cost about $25. I'm pretty happy with how they turned out. I need to figure out what to do with the ends, how long/short I want them.. Anywayy...

I think it looks great!! I can't tell if they are real or fake (always a plus if they are fake!!)..  As for the ends,  wrap them in floral tape, and then cover that with a pretty ribbon (I used white satin for mine.. rather my Mom the floral designer did..but I picked it out! We used a black gauze-y type ribbon for the bridesmaids) and secure it with a pearl corsage pin, or even hot glue if you'd like.  You don't want the ends to be too long (although, my mom just did a wedding where the bride wanted the stems just like you have them in your pic.. I personally don't like the look of that. It looks unfinished IMO), enough for your girls to hold on to, with maybe a little more at the bottom..

I don't have any good pics of the stems wrapped, but this is the best pic I could find of the ribbons I chose, so you could get an idea of the satin & guazy and how they photograph.

I think they look great!! Kudos to you!! Hope the tips help!

Pretty! I'm really excited to make all of my bouquets and bouts. There's going to be a lot to do though, so hopefully I will have help if it took you half an hour to do one!

Sami- Yea, they are fake. They are the best that Hobby Lobby had...I have tricked everyone into thinking they were real. My sister tried smelling it. Haha I wanted fake because I'm not a huge flower person so it is hard for me to justify spending so much on something that will be carried for an hour. Thanks for the tip!  I may try rewrapping the stem again today and see how it looks.

Binx -The part that took so long was figuring out how to cut the stems. There is a 32 (Is that right?) gauge wire going through the stem which is really annoying. I went through 3 trypes of tools before I found one that would give a clean cut. the wire also made it a pain in the butt to stick coursage pins in. hot glue would work SO much better.

Irish - Yea those are my colors. Sorta. My colors are Pink, Black and Gray.  I actually wanted the bouquets to be black and white, but I threw in the little hints of pink (which will be my bouquet color) and I like it. This is really my vision for the bridal party. I just LOVE this picture.

Ohh ok! I plan on using real, and the bouquets will be small, so that should help. And if I do decide to go fake, my dad has a billion tools and would know what to use for the wire. Actually my dad woukd probably enjoy helping make them haha!

I was torn because I love flowers and because my mom has degrees in horticulture and floral design so I wanted her to do them, so we went the fake flower route, and I still have my bouquet.  I loved it because my mom made it.. She even hot glued little crystals in some of the flowers.  I love your colors!! I'm such a pink lover, but I just couldn't justify pink that close to Christmas... I've seen it done, but I didn't like it.  Plus our venue was decked out to the nines so there was already lots of red and zero pink in there..

Looks great! I made our BM bouquets as well! (the night before the wedding with real flowers) I kept the stems at about 9-10 inches long, wrapped it all in floral tape, and ribbon.
BUT BE AWARE that they are flowers that want water and WILL wilt so
    1. Make sure to keep them in the fridge until last minute.
    2. Consider buying the protectant spray that keeps them fresh longer (I forget the brand/name of it. but you can buy it at any Michaels)
    3. (big one) Something that I did was NOT wrap the ends. I left JUST the ends unwrapped and soaked cotton balls to place them directly on top so that the flowers to have a little water that last night so that they are DEFINITELY fresh the next day. This trick worked really welll, but you have to be careful not to get the ribbon wet (that's why I did cotton balls, you could also do papertowels).

Those are beautiful! Nice color combination! I wish I had a "crafty gene" but I suck at it, thankfully my aunt knew a great florist/event designer for a big hotel chain in Vegas so we had a huge discount(flowers are not cheap in the desert!) on our flowers for the wedding. I miss my bouquet now, I left if  my parents' house and forgot to bring it with us! Ugh
