I sassed the nurse at my doctor's office with that last time I was there--I'd been 4 times in a month (don't ask) and the same nurse checked me in every time. I told her the first time that BF has been abroad all year, but she's gotta ask every time. Oh well. She chuckled.

Zane - BF came in to the doctor's office with me once. Of course they asked when I had my last period. I said, "10 weeks". Bf acted all freaked out and the nurse had these wide eyes. I'm on an extended pill - it's perfectly normal for me to go 11-12 weeks between. BF knows this and was just messing with the nurse. I wanted to smack him but was laughing too hard.

Nice. I think BF would pass out if I pulled that on him.

One of the times they asked I was like "Well, if I am, that's news to me, as I haven't had sex in several months, and you'd think I'd have noticed by now". They made me take a pregnancy test anyway.

Haha.  University health services are notorious for being rather crappy.  One girl in my program was told once that she was definitely pregnant (when she hadn't had sex in months).  What was it *really*, you may ask?  Mono. Because in bloodwork tests, it's really easy to mix up mono and pregnancy. Yup.

Wow. Just. Wow. I may not be a fully qualified med tech yet, but even *I* know you'd have to bung that one up pretty hard.

Then again, my school's health service wanted me to take a pregnancy test when I came in with a sprained wrist. I told them I hadn't had sex in 2 months and that at the moment I was on my period, so it wasn't necessary. Then I asked them to please set my wrist so I could go back to my lab.

As for the incident at my doctor's (not school health services), I needed to take one as a formality before the procedure I had.

LOL Button! :) Meamolly - hope you feel better soon! All this liability crap makes us take extra, pointless tests and spend more, pointless money. It's crazy, but the doctors and hospitals have to CYA.

Oh my lawd, don't get me started on unnecessary pregnancy tests...

Back when I was trying to figure out what the hell was going on with me (ended up being diagnosed with endo), every freaking time I'd go to the doc, they'd insist on doing a pregnancy test. Even when I'd insist that I just had one two days ago and it was negative, even when I said "well doc, I'd be six months along now and that would be the least of my problems), even when I just had a pelvic ultrasound a week before and my uterus was empty (you would think that would be a big clue there), they would insist on it. It finally got to a point where my insurance company called and asked if I was TTC because so many tests showed up in my insurance claims.

paint - lol, I should have my FI do that sometime. I'm on continuous BC to stave off the endo, so I'll literally go 6,7,8 months without a cycle. I recently told a doc (was in for bronchitus) that it had been 6 months since my last cycle, and he kept looking at my stomach like it was going to magically expand right there in the doctor's office.

uh, kinda ridiculous. You can afford a wedding AND all that baby stuff at the same time? If it was me, I'd hold the wedding and start saving... in case maybe-baby-daddy changes his mind, you have no child support, AND you're down baby $$ and wedding $$. not to mention all the trust etc issues everyone else already covered.

    i'm amazed.

LoL. yup gotta CYA. It wouldn't be the craziest thing to have happened. I have literally had to ask patients to stop making out on stretchers before. Who knows what they would do in a private room............. eesh

Seconding this. A thread is considered dead when no one has posted on it for 2-3 days. I would get it if you were totally new and the thread was, like, a week old, but FIVE MONTHS? And you didn't really have anything constructive to add?
