We were younger (Im not quite 27 yet so that shows you). We've been together for almost 5 years.

Some people say they will only ever say it to one person. He could be one of those guys. FI told me that he knew from the start he wanted to marry me. I wouldn't push him and I also wouldn't get upset about it. Let him go at his pace.

That makes a whoooooole lot more sense than the first impression I got. In my mind, I saw Still going: oh man, I'm bored, let's go over to the Catholic board! Those broads sure do believe some stupid stuff. OMG LOOK AT ALL THE STUPID BULLSH!T!!!!! Oh sweet mercy, no no no. Religion is a very personal thing, and I'm not gonna go in and violently question anyone. I just have a need to know why people believe certain things. I try to be civil about it and not resort to logical fallacies, and I hope that I don't devastate people as I do it. I also hope that years of managing to have civil debates with Scientologists has helped me when approaching all religions.

I flame Pele for saying the E FFF was getting hot, which made me rush over and be horribly disappointed. The most flamable thing over there was Liatris saying I need to have my burgers cooked well done. I want that shiz mooing, b!tch!

Anytime :) I wouldn't be surprised at all if it had a lot to do with his parents. Just try to be patient (I know it's hard!). Waiting is the worst, especially when you're afraid you might say it accidentally when hanging up the phone or something. I was terrified of that!

I'm the same way, Still, and it's caused arguments in the past. (IE: my uncle still not speaking to anyone in my family because we support gay marriage.) No one, Catholic or otherwise, can give me a good argument why gay marriage/adoption/etc. is "wrong." "Because the bible says so" doesn't work for me. That might be why.

I respect that you can have your own beliefs & faith, and that everyone is entitled to their own opinions... but that doesn't mean that certain opinons aren't just wrong. I'm not a religious person, but I don't dislike people for being reglious, and I think Kristan is one of the best people I've ever seen in expressing her faith/beliefs. I just don't understand how people can believe some of the things they believe. It just boggles my mind.

I didn't understand at first, but knew I wasn't fully informed, but lurking on the board helped me out in that dept a lot! To properly argue (read: any point, not just/specifically religion), the arguerer has to address the facts of the opposing view and validate them as being true to some respect. I understand for the most part (and they are all completely logical arguements) which is all you can really ask, I guess, right?! Also, your flashmob was super cute (saw it a while ago- I swear I'm not a super creep)

  • Thank you, Aud! <3

Kristan, I must also say you have a great way of explaining the Catholic faith. I grew up Catholic and was always told "this is God's way" or "this is what the Bible says" yet that doesn't really explain things. Like why birth control is a no-no or why I couldn't eat meat on Fridays during Lent. I think you're awesome! Plus I loved the Joey gif you posted on E.

That is an angler fish and you will never encounter that guy. Majority of the scary fish live out further than a person can swim out. The occasional shark may come into the surfline though.

I saw a grouper fish once while scuba diving last summer in the Gulf and that fish was the ugliest fish I've ever seen. It was huge too. I think the Instructor said he was around 200 lbs. Anyways, I'm glad those other scary fish are far away.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: UOs/Confessions/Flames/Whateva : That is honestly one of the nicests things ever said to me. I'm seriously humbled. When I was a youth group volunteer, we were taught that you have to "earn the right to be heard". You can't go spouting your faith / beliefs without some credibility. In all honesty, I have to warm up to someone to ask them why they believe what they do. Hopefully people know that I'm not meaning to challenge or discredit, but I honestly love to learn about religons and faith. The more I learn, the more I see that people have more in common than we realize. I love when my Muslim friends say they'll pray for me.

I mean it, sincerely! I mean, most of the time, talking to Catholics in this kind of discussion makes me want to punch babies. You, I just want to hug. <3
