[QUOTE]In Response to Re: My life should be a soap opera. Great reading material! : But she also already was tested and got a positive test result back. Blood tests take at least a few days to a week to get back. During a time where I supported a friend who was sexually assaulted, doctors advised her that she would need to wait at least a month to be tested accurately.  I also read the first post earlier this week.  Essentially, the timing just doesnt add up.  Even if she had sex with her now ex the day after the parties, it wouldnt have been enough time between exposure and her diagnosis for symptoms to have seriously developed. Which is why I am skeptical and think that former FI has had this for awhile.

You stated that herpes takes weeks to show symptoms.  That is not true.  Herpes also presents very distinctive sores that can be identified upon inspection.  A doctor can visually identify herpes sores and then order a swab test to confirm.  A blood test is only necessary if you are not presenting symptoms, but you think you have been exposed, i.e. a sexual abuse case or the indication of infidelity.   The blood test takes a month because the test looks for the antibodies and not the actual virus.  It takes a couple of weeks to a month to detect the antibodies.   OP's original story said she noticed something weird and went to a doctor, which means she experienced a visable outbreak that a doctor can see and easily diagnose.  The timing could be right.  Bachelor party happens with sex fest on
Saturday.  FI comes home and has sex with OP on Sunday.  A couple days later,Tuesday,  outbreak happens.  She goes to a doctor who visually confirms the infection by Wednesday.   Whether or not you think this is real, you need to make sure you have the correct information about the disease.

  • I am so so sorry that you are going through this. I'm glad you made the right decision and rid yourself of that negativity. I'm glad you had the strength to stand up for yourself and do what is best for you.

I actually never said it takes weeks for signs to show- I'm just calling MUD on the assumption that this miraculously materialized within a few days.

But thanks for the "lesson," Doc.

  • OMG...I'm so sorry about this.

Keep your positive attitude and you are WAY better off without those people in your life. That's just disgusting.  I don't care how drunk you are, there is just no excuse for that behaviour.

Actually you said there wasn't enough time for symptoms to develop, which in fact there was.  No miracles necessary - as stated she could have had sores develop 48-72 hours after exposure.  Sores are pretty easy to diagnose.

Again, I'm calling MUD that this happened as a result of the group sex.  OP, you were right to leave him based just on that.  I just find it hard to believe that the herpes was a result of the party night- or that this was the first time he did something that was sexually irresponsible.

I am not sure what else to say to you.  You are making assumptions based on facts that you think are correct when I have clearly told you otherwise and given you the correct information.  If you don't believe me, you are more than welcome to call a doctor or even do a 5 minute internet search.  Knowledge is power.

You may think this is MUD and you are welcome to have that opinion. I like to base my opinions on facts rather than assumptions.  Here are some other facts.  You can get an STD from one sexual encounter.  You can cheat one time.   You can get an STD from someone you trust.

We are clearly in a pissing match.
