Re: saying your married when you're not. opinions please

  • So did you get the reponses that you were looking for?? I very seriously doubt it. In my opinion, I think that you feel like you are doing it the "right "way ie. PAYING for a wedding and you feel that she shouldn't get the same perks as you do because she is doing THE SAME THING just without the ring, debt, and piece of paper. You really need to step back and examine yourself. Whether you admit it here or you admit it when you are alone, you KNOW that your problem is the fact that you are doing it one way that is costing a WHOLE LOT more MONEY then the way she is doing it and that is what is pissing you off!!!
And the whole time, my future husband was in the room...... image image

Sorry, that is ridiculous. People can get married at the JP and it costs next to nothing. The point is the girl IS NOT married and saying she is. We don't know how much the OP is spending on her wedding either. Money is not the issue here.
  • Hell, I think most of the checkers at our local grocery store think I'm already married, because I use FI's club card and his name is the one that comes up on the receipt.  So they all call me "Mrs. HisLast" when checking me out.  Do you think I should stop and explain, "No, we're just engaged and I'm using his card," or should I just smile at the pleasantries and continue on my way?

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • Many people are against a legal, government sanctioned marriage for many reasons. They may be either in a common-law marriage, or consider themselves spiritually married without government interference. I know "real" marriages are important to everyone on this board individually, but believe it or not, some people DO consider it "just a piece of paper."

    Different strokes for different folks.

Lol, I used to wear my class ring on my left hand. I love my school!
