Re: fears

  • Pubic hair, but really any hair freaks me out.

    Little pieces of toilet paper.

    The bathroom in general.

    Fish, snakes, lizards, frogs.

The buttfaced cloakmonster that stands at the foot of my bed and smiles while he watches me sleep.

    Home invasion robberies.

    Being haunted.

Being kidnapped and put in a box under a bed for 8 years.

  • I'm afraid that if I drive over a bridge it will either collapse or I'll be in an accident resulting in me plunging off the bridge. Whenever we go to Maine Scott drives over the bridge. I closed my eyes the entire way over the Tappan Zee on the way to Maine, but opened them on the way back. Apparently bad things won't happen at night?

I'm afraid of getting attacked by wild dogs. There are no wild dogs nearby, but I'm always worried about getting attacked by wild dogs if I go out at night.

I'm afraid of phones. It takes me a long time to work up the courage to dial a number and not hang up instantly. My voice also gets really shaky and "out of breath" sounding so I'm sure I sound like an idiot 12 year old to the person on the other line.

I'm scared that there is a giant great white in the deep end of pools that only comes out of the pool drain if there are no other people in the pool. When I was little I would make my dad stand in the pool to keep the great white away from me.

Yay!! Now to work on the rest of the population.
  • And yeah, I'm scared I won't be able to have children. But now I have the number to a fertility specialist on my fingertips for when that fear gets to great.

Oh, and I'm scared of tornados. I can handle hurricanes, lightning, rain, etc. But heavy winds scare the living shiit out of me.

I'm also scared of getting T-bones at an intersection by a car going 120 mph trying to escape from a police chase...because that happens so often...

    -Gaining my weight back
-Never being able to get a better job than what I have
    -Falling
-Getting my car smashed into on the Baltimore Beltway.
  • I get freaked out by aligators and tornados. I live in CA but they still freak me out.

  • I'll jump in late, but only because it's Shark Week and FI an I were just talking about this. I'm scared, and I mean hyperventalating panic type scared, of getting in the water when I go diving. When I hit the water, I have to fight not to grab the boat and haul myself back in. Once I get calmed down, I'm still really uncomfortable right up until I see my first shark. Then, I'm totally calm and comfortable again. It's weird, I dove all the time as a kids and was constantly sharing the water with black and white tip reef sharks, as well as nurse and lemons. Never had a problem, but I've spent so much time inland now, I get freaked out. But once I see one, it's like 'oh yeah, they're not so bad.' (All of this said about warm water dives, GW's still freak me out)

[QUOTE]Im afraid of falling down escalators so I look like a weirdo when I try getting on them. I hesitate trying to find the best time to get on when my footing will be just so that I cannot possibly fall. It usually takes about 4 steps to pass before I get on.

My mother fell down on the up escalator a few weeks ago at Macy's.  It truly was terrifying to turn around and see her going end over end.  She ended up being taken to the hospital by paras - no broken bones or concussion.  Just chewed up pretty good by the sharp teeth on the edge of the escalator stairs.  Her back was also bruised and cut up.  Good strong bones on that 77 year old woman!  Of course now she is terrified of escalators and she's heading back home to Florida on Saturday and I have to scout out the elevators at O'Hare Airport so we don't use escalators.  So yeh, you ladies have a legit fear!
