Re: Republicans cannot be this stupid.

  • I'm not a birther, but I don't accept the idea that IF he wasn't legally allowed to be president it doesn't matter because it's too late. I don't know what we would do about it (aside from make Biden take the rest of his term) but it would matter. Sorry, I care that the constitution is followed when it comes to electing the president. This would lead to a huge crisis.

That being said I think it would have come out by now if he wasn't a natural born citizen.

But why would it matter? What's done is done. All the decisions he's made, all of the actions he's taken- we can't go back three years and undo that. It's over and the time is gone. It wouldn't lead to a huge crisis, it would lead to spending more money, that isn't necessary, chasing a neon rainbow (than you Alan Jackson).

Just because people are too stupid or hopelessly paranoid to accept the evidence presented to them doesn't mean he should be forced to mail every citizen a copy of his birth certificate. And honestly, if you're going to go that route, you should probably take into account that if he managed to plot his way into presidency, he can probably fake a birth certificate. IT'S A GODDAMN CONSPIRACY!!
    Posted by Anysunrise
Well even if he did have a press conference and hold up his original birth certificate, the birthers would still say he was lying and that it was fake.

The issue has been debunked so many times, it is laughable that people still don't get it. They just don't want to think its true, or, they don't want to believe that they were proven wrong. So they just keep at it.

And having him "step down" (for lack of a better phrase) and Biden finishing his term would lead to a huge crisis? A lot of social unrest? I just do NOT see the benefit of elongating this nonsense.

And anyway, with the birther stuff, I've heard that the wording about being a "natural-born citizen" in the Constitution is kind of open to interpretation (what part of the Constitution isn't?) and has never been tested by the courts. So even if someone found out he was really born in Kenya or Indonesia or wherethefuckever, it's possible the courts would decide to interpret the Constitution in such a way that would allow him to remain president/run for re-election. So basically our country would be put into political turmoil and have questionable leadership for nothing.

And I'm not Obama's biggest fan, but Biden? No thanks.
In Response to Re: Republicans cannot be this stupid. : Oh c'mon, really? No one can keep anything private anymore, at least not for very long. And you really think that if there was actual documentation that PROVED without any doubt that he wasn't born a U.S. citizen, that it wouldn't have come to light by now?
    Posted by LessThanZero
I think the president could, if he wanted to bad enough.

FWIW, I'm not a birther. I find it interesting, and I think it's going to be a one of those "conspiracies" that lives on forever (ex. JFK assisination, moon landing etc.)

Even if he wasn't born here, there's nothing really they can do now, except not let him run in the next election.

  • It's not about the literal sense of showing documentation. It's about how pompous he is and how he has radically socialistic ideas on how to run our country and it's terrifying. The birth certificate nonsense was just the foreshadowing of what was to come--that he will do everything in his power to alter what our government stands for into what HE thinks is best whether the majority of our people like it or not. He will not relent and I honestly don't think he cares at all about our country, he just wants to leave a legacy of some sort.

Maybe if they posessed enough brain cells to rub two of them together and produce a synaptic spark, they could come up with an original thought and MOVE ON. All this conspiracy theory nonsense does is distract people from ACTUAL issues -- and Zeus knows, we have enough of them.

Kind of. He got 349 electoral votes to McCains 163.

But as far as the popular vote, he only got 53% to McCains 46%. The country was pretty evenly divided as far as what the people wanted.

But yes, you are right. He did win fair and square.
