Not really. I had a friend that lived up the street so I'd just say I was going to visit him. He was like a brother to me so they didn't care.

  • I only sneaked out after high school, like the summer after my freshman year when I was living at home. I would usually wait until like 1 am though and walk and have someone pick me up. I was 19 years old and I knew my parents would hate the guy I was sneaking to se.e

  • I could never sneak out. My house (in high school) was tiny, and surrounded by acres of cornfield, and then woods. My parents bedroom faced the 1/4 mile driveway so there was nno way of getting out or in without them knowing.

As for sneaking out, no need.  I'd just tell them where I was going 9with appropriate teenage vagueness) and go.  They trusted me.  The fools!

I was 17.  I unofficially moved out before then (never slept at home, but my stuff was there) but I officially moved out at 17.  I graduated when I was 17, though so it was pretty close to me going off to college.

<div>No, but there were a couple of nights when I didn't come home until 5 or 6 in the morning.  I moved back in with my parents the first summer break of college.  I went over to my ex's house to talk, and I ended up staying over there until about 6 AM the next morning.  I remember my dad banging on the door to his room (which was actually a separate building from the house) and telling me to get my stuff and go.  </div><div>
</div><div>Since I was under my parents rules while I was at home, I think I just was grounded for a couple of weeks.  Not as severe of a punishment as it would have been if I was in high school.  </div><div>

17 years old. I was never home because I lived in quite a few different places, I was a live in babysitter for a lot of people. My dad was always on the road and he had custody of me.

I moved in with my now 1st husband at 17.

  • 1st car, 1986 Nissan Pulsar.  Looked almost exactly like this.  I thought I was hotshit because it had a Pioneer stereo in it and a sunroof.

I snuck out of friends houses to go TP'ing but that's about it.  "Officially" moved out when I was 20 but was gone from 18-19 with Up With People.

  • Before I got my car I had to drive my mom's 80-something Buick LeSabre and holy crap was that thing a boat (over 19' long).  Great for hauling 8 other people in though.

  • Gah I'm always late to these threads!

Pet peeve: H always waits until the absolute last second to change lanes.  In fact, we were on our way to petsmart earlier and he waited until about 60 feet from the turn to go from the far left lane to the right lane on a 3 lane road.  I swear one of these times he's going to cut off someone with severe road rage and we're going to have a problem on our hands.

unpop op (maybe?): I think people who have morbidly obese pets and think it's funny, and won't do anything to help them lose weight should be able to be charged with animal cruelty.
  • You suck Dot!  I've always wanted one of those.

jcb, I agree.  And when I moved home it was with just my sister and not even my mom.  For me though, it was more about getting away from the small town than anything.

  • juju, people with seriously obese pets kind of make me squicky.  I can see how it might be easy for a dog to get a little chubby, but for real?  He can only eat what you feed him and if he's not getting exercise, it's not his fault, kwim?

There is an older couple that always brings their two dogs to the dog park Lucy and I go to.  One of their dogs is a very uncomfortably overweight beagle.  She is so heavy it looks like it's painful for her to walk.  It just breaks my heart.  I overheard the lady mention something to the dog about how if she "wouldn't eat all those extra helpings, maybe you could run and play with the other doggies."  Wtf, biiitch?  My dog would eat a crapton of extra helpings if I gave them to her, but I don't.  Not their fault they have no 'off' switch when it comes to appetite ffs.

This.  I hear this SO fricking much at work I just want to scream.  "well, she sure loves food"....."but she loves hamburgers from mcdonalds, and she begs me, what am I supposed to do?"....and my personal favorite..."I only feed him a cup twice daily" (I come back into the room with a real cup measurement and then it's all "well yeah I guess I actually use a big gulp cup twice daily")

then their dog/cat gets diabetes or severe arthritis and they want to euthanize, then spend $600 on a new puppy instead of using that money to treat their sick pet that wasn't even into the double digits age-wise.

Wow.  Sorry for the rant.  Animals are like children to me because we don't plan on having any, so I get pretty upset about this ish.  Plus I don't like bullshiit excuses.

  • And my first car was a 1993 grand am.  It was purple.  Not dark purple, it was this weird grey/purple that was just wrong.  All my friends called it the purple nurple, FFS.  I hated it, but looking back, I had a lot of good times with that car

NOT sexual LOL, sorry I just read the troll post about her cousin marrying a dog and I don't want anyone getting the wrong idea.

  • Those pictures are something else. nothankyou.

Also- lbarr- those girls were being ridiculous. I think when people throw out money figures in that context- like- why did she need to mention the amount she spent?  Couldn't she just say she bought him a really nice watch he had been wanting?  I don't think mentioning what you spent is very classy.
  • I won't be looking at those pictures again - I remember them from the first time.

I totally want a $7000 clown car.  But without the clowns because they scare the hell out of me.

  • well, that was, um....it was disturbing.

A male friend of mine worked with a girl that would occassionally hang out with us, and she didn't wear shoes, like, ever.  She said they made her feet feel "constricted".  She wouldn't even wear flip flops in the summer, just barefeet.  If she had to go into a store she would wear the flips flops but definitely nothing closed-toe.  In the winter she would either wear socks outside or socks and flip flops.  Her feet were fricking black and I wanted to puke everytime I saw them.
