I agree, I think its weird. I don't really get any vermin-y pets (hamsters, gerbils, etc) past childhood, I see no point in them.

[QUOTE]I know this isn't really a new opinion or whatever, but holy fuuck...some expectant women are borderline insane. I don't understand the bloody hysteria over watching every last piece of food you eat, scanning every.last.product you use for potentially harmful substances, etc. I expressed that opinion on TB and was nearly lynched in PMs for it. I don't understand the hysteria, and am a firm believer that moderation in life is the key to a happy, healthy pregnancy. I'm a grouch today and feel that all my opinions will be against the grain.

ewhit, change your weding date on your profile. I changed mine to way in the future.

Re: football. I can't stand it when people feel the need to comment on every effing play during a game on FB. It is the worst during a game when the same however many people post every 15 seconds commenting on the game and the entire page is just a few people with random football cheers. Next time it happens, I'm unsuscribing from them all. Make one damn post and just comment on that one.

Oh and if you want me to be invested in the class (Evaulation of programs) don't say on the first day, "you may be thinking you'll learn how to do a program eval by the end of this class, you won't, but you'll learn a lot of things about evals". I think you'd be okay.  There's not a picture or anything.  But basically the Bronx Zoo is offering a "name a roach" as a special kind of gift for someone.  Like how naming stars was popular a while back.  For an extra fee they'll get a chocolate roach and a certificate.  Perfect for V-day.

I'm mega-thankful that my doctor is also one of those laid-back, realistic, "everything in moderation" people. I was at an appointment the other day and having a brutal day, and she said "Go out for dinner, treat yourself to something you really want and then go home, put your feet up and have a half-glass of wine. I promise you'll feel human again."

I really do love her. I couldn't stomach the wine (the smell even made me nauseous) but I did appreciate the sentiment behind taking care of myself in more than just the physical sense.

I'm such an animal lover that Celles' picture makes me want to scratch the little bugger on the top of his head. So cute. :)

ETA: my love for animals doesn't quite extend to cockroaches. After living in Tunisia for 6 months, I'm done with those skittery assholes. The effing things were about 6-inches long and they'd hiss. WTF.

Have you guys seen the episode of Hoarders where the guy hoarded rats?  He had fucking thousands of rats in his house.  And they were all his babies and he'd let them climb all over him, tons of them at a time.

I don't really judge people for having pet rats but they are definitely not a pet I could have.  Watching that episode gave me hives.

Celles, probably because of the rat NIcodemus.  And his creepy glowing eyes.  And also because there were rats throwing knives and dropping bricks on each other and yeah, most of it was pretty scary.

AATB, I would throw up.  I'm not usually scared of rats but that is disgusting.

There was a storage unit around here that was discovered full of dead pythons.  Like, tons of them.  The guy was hoarding the snakes and couldn't take care of them all so he packed them away and they all died.

It was weird because after the story came out that a storage unit was full of dead snakes, the next day the story was... are the snakes really dead?  ...Don't you think you could tell?

Aw my chinchillas were both rescues. My first one a friend bought and just got tired of playing with her. She was going to let her go, which is completely inhumane and she would die within days, so I took her.

The second one, pictured above, was after the supplier of Petco and Petsmart was busted with awful neglect and abuse charges. The hedgies were eating their feet off for food, the chins hadn't seen daylight in weeks, and so much more. The surviving animals were spread out all over the south and I took in one chin. They're good little fuzzies, but I wouldn't have gone out and bought one to just have one.
