Goooood morning!

We looked at the cabins but I think they are mainly for families, and it's just the 2 of us. I'm hoping we can score some deals through AAA. Either way, come January I will be dragging DH to every inch of Disney and making him take pictures whether he wants to or not (so far, not, but I'll put him next to a hot princess and he'll be all smiles).

kd--yeah, I've been spoiling Whisky all week because I know he's going to hate me tomorrow. I have to pull his food tonight so he's getting a big, tasty dinner beforehand to remind him why he loves me. He's so spoiled.

ETA--MIAF, that's good to know. I was looking at the all-star movie resort because it looked like there would be a lot of pictures or statues of movie characters. And since I'm such a Disney dork, that would make me very happy to stay somewhere surrounded by my favorites.
  • The best part about it is that Chloe begged to go to Midieval Times for her birthday at the beach (Tuesday). J told her if she saved $50, we'd take her to M.T. and she could spend the $50 in the giftshop. If she saved $75, he'd match it with $25 and she'd have $100 to spend.

As of last night, Chloe has $124, so she'll have $150 to spend at Disney. :) She organized this huge chore list, and we assigned dollar amounts to each chore and she's busted her little ass working and saving money. And the max she can earn at once is $5; most chores are only worth $.50 - $1. She's awesome. Oh! And she's still going to a castle for a birthday meal, she just doesn't know it's Cinderella's castle yet. :)

OK, I promise to stop word vomitting about my silly vacation! Sorry!
  • Howdy bitches.
  • I'm turning into a total OMG!OMG! type person as I realize taht I am getting married the day after tomorrow.  I'll spend today running errands, trying to sneak in a nap, going out with my sisters at night (I don't really want to do this, but whatever), and deep breathing.
  • I almost fired someone in my office yesterday. I went home, tried to relax, worked out this morning, and I'm still mad at her. I'm mad at myself for apparently being an incompetent manager as well. Now I know I need to put together a training for my staff between the audit and when school starts.. GAH!

Work=stress overload and I can't keep my eyes open, despite my super duper vitamins.

Sorry for the negativity. Think I'll stay away from TK so it doesnt spread.

    Yay!!! Congrats!
  • Hello!

Bec - I'm so jealous of your trip!  We're going for our honeymoon, and I want to go NOW!

Seshat - We looked into booking through AAA, and ended up getting a slightly better deal booking directly through Disney.  We'll be staying at Port Orleans French Quarter.  Definitely check out quotes from both.

  • Totes jeal of Disney!  I'm trying to talk Wes into us going down and staying with SarahSmile and her husband and going to Disney.  Wes and Mr. Smiles are like besties.

I have something that's top secret, so the only logical thing would be to post it on an international wedding board--my brother's going to propose to his gf!  He texted me last night about ring shopping. I'm so excited.
  • Aw, heels, that is sweet & exciting!  How sweet that your brother let you in on it.

I'll jump on the jealousy train - I want to go to WDW very badly; maybe next fall.

Thanks for the well wishes, everyone.  I am so very excited!  I'll post pictures as soon as I can.
  • YAYYYY OWN! Congratulations!

Oh, Se. There are plenty of goofy Disney characters. You'll have your fill.

  • YAY OWN!!!! That's so exciting! Are you nervous? Please post pics in a bio so I don't miss the thread while I'm away. :)

Heels, does your brother have a plan? That's so exciting!
  • I'm not sure what the plan is.  I told him about Diamonds Direct a few years ago and thought he would blow it off thinking it was too expensive or that his gf wanted a non-traditional engagement ring, so I was shocked when he texted me to ask about it.  They are having their annual sale this weekend so it was really good timing.  I don't know how the proposal is going down, but I'll ask if he comes to town this weekend.
  • Yay Heels' brother! That's exciting!

  • Awesome vacay, Bec.  Have a great time.

    Congrats, OWN.  We want pics!

  • Congrats OWN! I can't wait to see pictures. Don't let your friends run you too ragged the next couple days, you deserve lots of rest!

And congrats to you too, Heels. That's exciting.

Sarah--thanks for the heads-up. We have lots of time to work with, so hopefully we can get a good rate. Ultimately I don't care where we stay, I just want to go to Disney. Although, I don't know that DH is prepared for the return of my 5 year-old self once we step foot in the park.
  • I can't believe it's already time for your wedding, OWN!  Exciting.
  • Yay, OWN, have an amazing wedding!!!

I'm also jealous of everyone's trips to Disney--I want to go back and FI has never been.

We're going to San Francisco in August--any suggestions?

Starmusica - thanks!  We lucked out because my dad covered out flights with his airline points (dude has a LOT of airline points).  I feel that everyone should make it to Greece at least once in their lives.  We hope to go back for some "big" anniversary in the future.

    Congrats OWN!

  • Bec, will she loan out?? I'm sure Mr. Man will be generous when he realizes he doesn't have to do the work. :)

I love you Missy. Even though you are not smart enough to take online quizzes to find out really important information. ~cew
  • Port Orleans, French Quarter is the PERFECT place for an adult couple to stay at Disney (that's where we stayed for the honeymoon). It's fun and festive but it wasn't too overrun with kids which was nice. The rooms were also really cute, although we somehow ended up with 2 twin beds instead of a king like we were supposed to get...There's also a really pretty river you can walk along at night which was really relaxing and a nice way to unwind after a crazy day.

I woke up very disoriented today, so I don't know how I am. I woke up dizzy and confused and cranky, and had a weird/bad dream so maybe that's it. I'm trying to figure out if I want to go peach picking or it I'm just too blah today.

Bec - Scott tried to surprise me with a trip to Disney but failed miserably, but mainly because I kept pestering him about our honeymoon. I'm a total planner and couldn't stand just "packing a few things" and getting on a plane without knowing the destination.

Seshat - I'll send good thoughts your way (yes KPS, I do think of posters during the day when I say this). Katie just had her dental done and came out of it great, and I know Whisky will do fine. It's scary when they are senior babies though. If it makes you feel better, I was saw a dental cleaning and the animal is hooked up to a lot of monitors throughout the process. If anything starts to go less than perfect they will stop the procedure and wake them up.
  • Katie--yeah I know he'll be taken care of. I used to work at the vet's office I'm taking him too, so I've seen the dental done a dozen times. I've assisted with them. But like you said, he's a senior baby and I'm a worried momma.

I'll have to look up the Port Orleans place. We want to go in January on a weekday since it's slower (less kids!) so we're looking for a nice, quiet place.
  • Yay for Port Orleans!  Glad to know we made the least kid-infested choice.  (Not that I'm anti-kids.  We're going to Disney, after all.)
  • The Grand Floridian is amazing - if you don't stay there, at least book a meal/brunch there - the characters for the brunch we had were Pooh, Tigger, Mary Poppins, and Alice.

  • I stayed at Port Orleans, and I love it! Definitely a bit more quiet and relaxed than resorts with more kids.
  • So, it's not too weird to be just 2 adults at a character brunch with no kids?  I want to do one, but at the same time, I'm worried it would be awkward for some reason.

I would totally do a character brunch with no kids. I'd purposesly start chatting with the characters and ask a bunch of questions about the movies they're in as though they were real. DH already thinks I'm crazy, so it would be worth it to see the look on his face (the "I can't ebelieve I agreed to this, get me out of here" look).

Part of the thrill of going to Disney for me is messing with DH. He's so serious, I want to make him talk with all the characters.
  • We did a character dinner with just us two and it was still really fun.

I strongly recommend (as in you HAVE to go or you'll never forgive yourself) Narcossis at the Grand Floridian. The food was pricey (takes 2 meals if you use the dining plan) but it was the best food I have ever put in my mouth.

Also take advantage of the park pass and the after hours. It was so nice walking through Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom when 90% of the people (and kids) had left already.

If you have any questions about things to do or see I could talk about Disney all day, so feel free to ask. I thought it was so completely stupid to go there as two adults, and now I can't wait to go back sans kids.
  • Thanks for the help!

We made reservations at Narcossis, Luau Cove, and Chefs de Paris. We're there for 10 days, but one day is dedicated to Harry Potter World at Universal.  I'll definitely talk to FI about scheduling a character dinner.

If you have any other insightful tips, they're more than welcome!  I was only at Disney once when I was 5, so I'm pretty much going into the trip blind.
