Snarky Brides

what is your profession?

what do you to do for your bank roll?
do you love it or hate it?
is it your dream job?
would you rather do something else?
how long have you been at this job?

I work at Lowes Corporate Offices in executive support. I like it pretty good, it has its ups and downs, but I jumped at the chance to work for a fortune 50 company at an above entry level position at 21.
I wish I would have pursued cosmetology, its my dream but hairdressers dont have a 401k lol
I have only been at this job for 8 weeks.

  • what do you to do for your bank roll? I teach
do you love it or hate it? I love my choice of career, I do NOT love my current assignment, nor do I love my assignment for next year. This is a huge source of stress for me.
is it your dream job? Working in education is, as mentioned about, my current assignment, not so much.
would you rather do something else? Um, I don't know, I haven't every really done anything else - I have worked in the general field of education since I was 19. I could definitely enjoy other roles within my profession. I would like to end up in a policy making position but those are hard to come by.

would you rather do something else?
Sometimes, but then I remember that I'm fortunate to have a job in my field.

how long have you been at this job?
    Just shy of one year.

do you love it or hate it?  Hate it!  I do sewer billing for low income areas so at least once a day I have some cry and tell me they have to choose between feeding their kids and paying their bills.

is it your dream job?  Absolutely not, but it pays the bills while I go back to school.

would you rather do something else?  I've been going back to school at night for elementary ed.  I'll start student teaching this fall!

what do you to do for your bank roll?
I'm working currently as a group home rehab aide.  Brain injured middle age men.  I'm in grad school, so this is temporary.

do you love it or hate it?
I love my clients, but don't love the job.

    is it your dream job?
    No no no.

would you rather do something else?
It's in my field, sort of. I'm studying clinical neuropsychology, so I'll be dealing with brain injury.  But I can't help them like I want to.

how long have you been at this job?
    A year and a half.

  • what do you to do for your bank roll? At the moment I don't have a bank roll, since I just graduated last week. In the fall I start graduate school (doctoral program) for chemistry, I will get paid a salary for that (a salary above and beyond total tuition paid).
do you love it or hate it? I don't know yet. But I do know that I love chemistry.
is it your dream job? Graduate school isn't a dream job, but it's necessary for me to get my dream job, which is working as a college professor.
would you rather do something else? Again, grad school is really a means to an end.
how long have you been at this job? I will be starting in the fall, but I have been studying chemistry for the past 4 years and working in a research lab for the past 2.

Yeah, you only have to be 18 to serve here.  Although it is really illegal to be under 18 and do it.  Even the bussers have to be 18 since if you are 17 you are not even allowed to touch a beer bottle or empty wine glass.  its weird.

But like I said, it wasnt a huge deal back then, like it is now.  Nightclubs are different than restaurants.  I have worked at many and not filled out paperwork.  The last 5 years or so they have cracked down, probably because of insurance purposes.  And Boston is getting stricter and stricter.
