Thankfully I *should* make the July graduation ceremony (if it is all signed off by next month, which it should be), so at least my conferral will be close to graduation and it won't feel quite so disjointed. As for what to do now, well, I got and started my current position really on the premise that my PhD was submitted/almost over, so I guess I will work on that! What's an MPhil?  And is DPhil different from PhD?  They stand for the same phrase, but I've only ever met one DPhil.

I've actually moved on to my post doctoral work.  I'm not loving, sadly.  I'm not sure if I'll stay in my post doc, move to a different post doc (different research) or go over into industry.  I have plenty of options, especially since I've finished post doctoral work and will hopefully be published out of both my graduate and post doctoral labs...  I just have to decide.  Until then, I'm at the bench doing experiments!

what do you to do for your bank roll? Bankroll is a pretty strong word lol - I am a CSR at a company that sells health insurance to small businesses.

do you love it or hate it? I hate it with the fire of 1000 suns, but I love, love LOVE the girls on my team.

is it your dream job?  Absolutely not. I would love to work in entertainment - like party planning, or working in promotions at a club.

  • what do you to do for your bank roll? I'm a Print and Web Design Manager for a baby products company

do you love it or hate it? I deal with three product categories, and it's enough work for three full time designers. There are people I love to work with and some that I wish would find something else to do for 8 hours a day. I absolutely LOVE my manager, so that helps.

is it your dream job?  Design is my dream job. Designing for this particular company is not.

would you rather do something else? Some days I think I'd like to switch design fields and be a corporate interiors designer or a home organizer. Other days I wish I could be a park ranger. :)

would you rather do something else? Eh.  Obviously if my dream job came along I wouldn't say no, but I'm not chomping at the bit to get out of here.

what do you to do for your bank roll? I'm a government contracts and pricing analyst at a pharmaceutical company.

do you love it or hate it? I don't hate it per say, but I definitely do not love it. I think I'd like it more if the salary were where it should be for this position in this area.

is it your dream job? Not at all. If I could do anything in the world I would be either a) a book editor or b) a novelist. I tried for years to get into publishing to no avail and ended up in finance. Being a novelist isn't a steady job so it's not something I could pursue unless J could easily support us both, or if we won the lottery.

would you rather do something else? Yes, I've been sending out resumes for a few months here and there.

how long have you been at this job? 3 years.

  • what do you to do for your bank roll? um. everything? Technically I'm an "Office Specialist", but I do a little customer service, a lot of tech support, and a lot of whatever happens to come up during the day.

do you love it or hate it? both, depending on the day. I actually really love where I work, and I love what I do day-to-day. I could do without some of my coworkers though ;)

is it your dream job?  I genuinely have no idea, which is why I love my current job so much. I've gotten a lot of great opportunities to explore what I want to do. I do think I want to stick with something computer/tech related though.

would you rather do something else? Eventually. But I'm happy with where I am right now.

what do you to do for your bank roll? Distance Education Specialist. I work in the online education department for a university and am essentially a Blackboard admin, but I provide support for students/instructors and help instructors develop/get ready online courses.

do you love it or hate it? I really like my job, even on the days when everyone is angry. My boss and my coworker are amazing and this job is better because I work with great people.

is it your dream job?  I'm not entirely sure I know what my dream job is anymore, so I'll say yes for now. I like helping people and I love being in the higher education/university setting, so it's perfect for me. Plus the school treats us incredibly well and the administration here is top notch.

would you rather do something else? Maybe? I don't know. I'd like to own my own business (with H), but for now, I'm happy and I'm still learning. I think once I am not able to learn anymore from a job is when it's time for me to leave.
