what do you to do for your bank roll? University Controller

do you love it or hate it? Neither. Its ok. Most of it comes easy to me, except having to fire people, which I had to do last week for the first time.  

is it your dream job? No. I love working for non-profits (except the lack of pay). Yesterday I was looking up job descriptions for the new position I am hiring (under me) and they were all posted as making more than I do. That was an eye-opener.

would you rather do something else? I'd love to be a fraud examiner, or work in conculting for non-profits, helping them set up administrative infrastructure so that they can sustainably accomplish their program goals.

how long have you been at this job? I have directed accounting departments for 8 years, but only 5 years at this particular institution

do you love it or hate it? Most days I love it. Somedays I want to scream, like yesterday
is it your dream job? In the fact that I get paid holidays, weekends off, and bankers hours, yes. It doesnt pay nearly what I used to make, but it's less stressful.
would you rather do something else? Well I'd rather someone pay me to play with my kitten all day, but that wont happen. So in that manner no.
how long have you been at this job? coming up on 3 years. I was at my last job for 20 yrs, till they sold everything.

</strong>I'm a registered nurse.

</strong> I've been out for three weeks, so last night I loved it (It helped that I had a fantastic group of patients.) three weeks ago...close to hating it then. Stressful, but fulfilling.

</strong>I didn't think so, but now I think its the job I was meant to do.

Part of me would like to be a SAHM, and sometimes I think about being an interior designer, but I think when it comes down to it I'll stick with nursing because its so versatile. I work overnights in a hospital now and make crazy good money. When we decide to have kids I can do per diem work at the hospital, or take a day job, or work in a school, or do home care, etc etc.

</strong>I graduated two years ago from nursing school, but I've worked at the hospital for five years total. I was a phlebotomist when I first started.

do you love it or hate it? I am pretty meh about it. I love my boss though!

is it your dream job? Nope- I think my dream job would be starting my own business. Problem is, I don't know what type of business I would have.

how long have you been at this job? I have been with this company for over 5 years, been in my current position over 2 years.

what do you do for your bankroll? I teach middle school art.
do you love it or hate it? I love it.  although I am ready for summer vacation right now and my 8th graders are getting on my nerves.
is it your dream job? I think my actual dream job would be to teach at the college level. Although getting my MFA is a daunting task.

would you rather do something else?  Not right now. thought I think I will be looking in to moving to high school in the next 5-10 years.

threepinkroses, sorry for the late answer.  I got all busy yesterday.  No, I wasn't seeing nursing as a stepping stone.  I loved it, and did it for 10 years.  I got interested in medicine after I was a nurse.  I kind of wanted to be a better nurse, if that makes any sense.  PM me if you want details, or advice.  I'm now teaching medicine at the university.

is it your dream job?  It is. It's what I went to school for, and the pastor I work with is really awesome

I am a school psychologist for 3 schools Pre-K-8.

do you love it or hate it?
Like it very much. I don't feel I could've picked a better field for me to go into.

is it your dream job?
I am not sure yet. It better be. I took out over $80,000 in loans to pay for my degrees.

would you rather do something else?
Not right now. However, I could see myself becoming a registered dietician/nutritionist or make-up artist some day. I also am a painter, and I would love to pursue that talent in a more professional way. That would be a retirement job.

how long have you been at this job?
2 years, going on three. Then I'll have tenure in my school district before I have any kids, and I can take a leave of absence if I want.

Like some of the others, I also want to eventually be a SAHM. I think it would be a priveledge actually. And I consider myself a feminist. But, FI is supportive of whatever I want to do, and he is actively working on developing his job skills to have good paying jobs in the winters (since his annual income is just from the summers fishing, and my income carries us through winter). He wants to be able to bring in enough income that I could stay at home with kids if I wanted to. But he doesn't expect it or anything.

what do you to do for your bank roll?  Technical Writer for a high tech company

do you love it or hate it?  Mostly hate and seriously considering taking early retirement with a year's salary and two years of medical benefits.

is it your dream job?  I love tech writing, I'm good at it, but I am not loving the high tech environment any more.

would you rather do something else?  I am weighing my options: possibly nursing or buying rental property. 

how long have you been at this job?  Tech writer for 26 years.  11 years with this company.

WOW ladies!
I have always noted how well spoken and smart so many of you are. But like Katie (i think, sorry if im worng) said its a privillage to be rubbing cyber elbows with such amazing smart talented women!
Its been really cool and fun to see what you guys do, and would rather do.
*update on my post.
-I really miss being a SAHM more than cosmetology, although its been great for DD to be around other babies.
