Re: Unpopular Opinions

  • I agree, ceh - borrowers and lenders are both to blame.

  • People who blame banks and other stuff for their financial problems are stupid.  Its not rocket science here.  You make X, your loan is Y.  If X cant cover Y, then dont do it.

  • When H bought our house, he was approved for $X. He thought that seemed high, and the house he bought is in a much lower price range. If he were to lose his job tomorrow, we could still pay the mortgage (plus food, gas, electric and other absolutely necessary things) with what he would earn at an entry level job in his field, one with high turnover that's always hiring.

Same here.  We could have bought a friggin huge house with a high mortgage that we could have swung, but if God forbid something happened, we would be in trouble fast.  So we decided to buy something with a much lower mortgage to be safe.
Now that I'm pregnant, I'm realizing just how stupid it is for people to be so adamently against free BC for everyone.  Seriously, my pills cost like $19/mo or something (before insurance), and I paid $4/mo for them after insurance. I don't even want to know how much this whole pregnancy is going to end up 'costing' us.  And by us, I mean my insurance. I had to pay ONE copay of $15. That's it. My insurance covers teh rest, which I'm guessing will be at least $20,000? If not more? I have no idea, to be honest.  Either way, that's a lot of fucking packs of birth control pills.

  • We told the bank not to tell us how much we were approved for when we went looking. We went in and said "we want to spend $150k. can you approve that?" They obviously did.  At closing, we did ask the mortgage guy what we would've been approved at... $350k.  That's INSANE, given our income and current debt (mostly a crap ton of student loans.)

We did kind of the same thing when we were buying a car.  We didn't ask how much we could be approved for and then base it off of that.  We decided how much we wanted to spend and asked if we could be approved for that.  I don't want to know what we could have been approved for.

How about you pay what you owe!!! Don't fucking wrack up huge debt or speed or drive recklessly if you don't want to pay for it! It drives me nuts that there are companies helping people get out of their responsibilities.

<div>Yep.  We got pre approved. If we actually took out a mortgage for that amount we were approved for, we would barely be breaking even every month between the payments, H's student loans, and basic needs.  If one of our cars were to break down and we had to add a new car payment, we would LOSE money every month.  It's insane. </div>
You guys realize that ED is about way more than men getting erections or not, right?  I mean, yeah, if you take it down to the absolute basics, sure that's what it's about. But then that leads to mental health issues (self esteem, depression, etc), marital and relationship issues, etc.  I think BC for women should be covered as well...but it's a far more complex issue than many people in this thread are making it out to be.
    Posted by J&K10910
This may be addressed already, but I haven't gotten that far. Certain types of birth control can be used for women's mental health issues as well - specifically reducing PMS and PMDD symptoms.
