In Response to Re: This is what makes me a monster - TK edition. :  My favorite thing at a wedding I went to was when someone passed out keys to all the young women before the couple arrived. When they did the DJ announced that the groom was now a married man, and asked that all the ladies he knew before return his house key. About 30 women walked up he was so embarrassed.

• I don't care about cash bars, dry weddings, dollar dances, bouquet tosses, or most of the things people seem to get riled up about. I don't care if people jop then ppd as long as they are honest to their family and not being gift grabby about it. Really, I don't care about weddings that much.

I agree with the BM comment to a point. Yes they should be excited and want to participate in stuff, but I've seen way too many people pissed off because their BM didn't want to fly in from across the country for every single party.

I'm down with this too. Basically, I think people just look for thinks to judge other people or freak out over. I know I used to (probably still do at times).
I agree with you, Cew.  Two of my WoW guildies JOP'd it six months ago to get a head start on US immigration (he's from New Jersey; she's from Brazil) and are having their church wedding in Rio de Janeiro in July.  I don't judge that at all... and not just because I did the same thing in reverse!  I don't care if a couple calls their post-civil ceremony ceremony a "wedding" or a "vow renewal."  If they say it's their wedding, it's their wedding.  Who am I to argue? <strong>I think TK is crazy paranoid about Internet security.  Don't get me wrong: I'm not about to post my date of birth and social security number in my signature.  But my full name and e-mail address?  BFD.</strong>
Posted by Celles
I agree with this. My full name is in many, many places, including on my college website, my publications from college and grad school, my facebook, whatever. I've never NOT told someone my full name when they ask. Hell, I just gave my full name and my phone number and my credit card number and expiration date to the bundt cake shop over the phone within earshot of my coworkers. Oh noes!

And for anyone who has been stalking TK for 2 years, it's not that hard to figure out who I am on things like FB. That probably goes for many regs.

<div>YES! Seriously. </div>
• I feel like a lot of the 'angst' around TK with regards to certain topics is fuelled by "well I HAD to do it to follow etiquette so you should to'...We had open bar...I don't care if I go to your wedding and it's cash. We did online RSVPs...just because you decided that you should go the traditional route doesn't mean I had to. I made a choice that was different that yours, called me etiquetteless...I will live.
• Birdie I agree. I hate guessing what people want. Give me a fucking list okay?

image
• I am also of the opinion however that if you come here, ASKING if something is rude or goes against etiquette, you had better be prepared for the responses...don't ask a question if you aren't prepared for all possible answers. 90% of the time the brides on here already know their ideas are probably uncouth in someway but they want validation. I don't hand that shitte out for free...
• Exactly! And I know you can go online and do a search, but I'm lazy and don't feel like going through all of the variations of you or your fiance's name. Fred. Freddy. Frederick.
• I agree about the registries.  I don't want to have to search for you online to find out wtf to buy you.

I just sent out my invitations, and I was really worried about a couple little mistakes I made (no inner envelopes, labels on the RSVP envelopes, probably other things) until one of my best friends called me and asked where we were registered--she said "how am I supposed to know?  You didn't include it in the invitation!"  And then I remembered I don't live in The Knot, and that most people really aren't going to judge me on this kind of stuff.

• I love cash bars, dollar dances and b-lists. I love that my MOH's duty is to show up flask in pocket. I have a FMIL from hell and a FSIL I cannot stand. My mother is wearing an ivory dress and I could care less how my BM are doing their hair or what shoes they're wearing. In case you couldn't tell, I'm a lurker :)

<div>Whatever, I think that's BS Any...I honestly don't get why people care. MYOB.</div>
• I don't care if someone has a cash bar. I mean yes would I prefer everyone had open bar of course but I have never been to an event that was open bar. I also agree that I prefer to be able to buy a drink on my own then not buy one at all. I don't drink beer or wine and I would like to be able to buy a vodka tonic.

Bouquet and garter tosses don't bother me. I also don't care about matching BM dress. I also never heard of WP gifts until I started posting on TK and won't get one in my own sisters wedding in July because we have never heard of them.

I don't get the obsession baby names. If it's a baby name thread, it's bound to be at least 4 pages long.

And

Am I the only one who didn't find that longass thread from a few days ago  THAT interesting?
